Corruption and cluelessness in Nigeria has always been from its origin, but this Tinubulation is the father of them all.

Tai Solarin would have been a Tinubu supporter for obvious reasons if he was alive today, so he is one of the 'heroes' I have brutally learnt not to take too seriously.

That said, the Second Republic and its aftermath.... From Shagari down to the useless Buhari, down to IBB was when the devastation of this country became tattooed into the DNA of the country's polity.

Was he a bad person or you just felt cursing him will ease ur pain...just curious to know.

He's not cursing the man. That was one of the famous quotes of Tai Solarin who was a staunch educationalist.

The cost of living has always been on the rise in Nigeria, inflation has been a perennial issue.

200 a bag of beans is good deal compared to the reality of today.

Good deal? Did you know the salary of a University lecturer in 1983? How old are you? LOL! In that year, in 1983, more than half of Nigeria's population could not afford the N200 bag of beans you termed "good deal"!

Truth is, from at least under Gowon's profligate (wasteful) regime, where salaries of workers were arbitrarily increased and backdated (even when Chief Jerome Udoji, the Chairman of the Wage Review Committee, did NOT recommend any back-dating), inflation in Nigeria started a flight and our country never remained the same!

It was after this stupid salary increase by General Yakubu Gowon, that the average Nigerian started buying tonnes of foreign goods and our taste for imported stuff changed! FOREVER!

THERE WAS NEVER A TIME THINGS WERE NOT EXPENSIVE IN NIGERIA, AT LEAST FROM 1970! FACTS ONLY.

The items this current generation thought were cheap (because they used current prices to compare) were NEVER CHEAP! Just as it is today, majority of the population could not afford those items!

When an uncle bought an Opel Record card for about N300, he was the ONLY ONE who had that car in the entire city he lived at that time!

When school fees were less than N100 per term, majority could still not afford it.

If Canadians and citizens of those countries our young persons run to had fled their own countries, would they be able to run to those countries now? NIGERIANS MUST DEVELOP NIGERIA!

Nigeria needs a reset!

We need an ELITE CONSENSUS, where those in government and the elites (big-men businessmen, the intelligentsia, enlightened, etc) would sit down and agree: WE WANT OUR COUNTRY TO MAKE PROGRESS, ENOUGH OF INDIVIDUAL GREED, else, we would continue to move in circles, and succeeding governments would continue to be worse than their predecessors! This is NOT about Tinubu, Atiku, or Peter Obi.

May God help my country, Nigeria, to move form potential to reality! AMEN.

Let's do small arithmetic:

Bag of Beans in 1983 =₦200
Bag of Beans in 2024 =₦100,000

So Bag of Beans increased 500times in 41years

So if we continue like this, in next 41years (year 2065), price of Bag of Beans will be:
500×₦100,000 =₦50m grin

And household income also Increase relatively. Or are you still earning 5hunred naira like my father did back then?

This was shortly after Major General Muhammadu Buhari took over government. We hear that it was one of the worst times for Nigerians under that dullard's first shot at leading the country. His second shot between 2015 and 2023 wasn't any different!

GOD BLESS YOU, MY BROTHER/SISTER!

Younger folks did not know Nigeria of yore.

There was NEVER a time things were cheap.

Never.

They should listen to old musical records of the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s.

He wrote the letter from his heart, and painfully so.

I could vividly picture the weight on his mind as he penned his missive.

Adieu, Dr. Tai Solarin.

Small pikin Shagari was in office when this letter was written. Some of the issues raised in the letter were one of the reasons Buhari seized power on 31st December 1983.

The reason why I say Nigeria can never be better. Almost all Nigerians are corrupt because of the corrupt environment that we grew up in. Everyone are just waiting for there opportunity to stab the treasury bag and loot it till it lose wait. Hence the reason we have been having perennial bad government since second republic.
