Let's do small arithmetic:

Bag of Brown Beans in 1983
=₦200
Bag of Brown Beans in 2024
=₦100,000

So Bag of Brown Beans increased 500times in 41years

So if we continue like this, in next 41years (year 2065), price of Bag of Brown Beans will be:
500×₦100,000 =₦50m grin
Werey grin

Are you guys okay? So because there was never a time things were cheap we should continue like that and besides I could recall the economy was not like this during yardua and Jonathan's regime until the same APC got to power and destroy everything

You are not intelligent. My post was never about any party.

If you are too young to know the history of your country, go find out!

What has APC or any of the other 'robbery machines' (PDP, Labour, NNNP, YPP, ADC) got to do with the simple post I made? Are you so daft not to have understood simple English?

For those who don't want to read the long letter, here is a summary:

The author, Dr. Tai Solarin of blessed memory, was the head of a school with 2,300 students and was facing severe financial crisis due to rapidly increasing food prices. The school was struggling to afford food for the students and pay staff salaries. Despite the dire situation, the school cannot close and needed to increase fees to cover costs. The author was concerned about the impact of increased fees on parents but believed it was necessary to keep the school running and maintain teacher quality.

Essentially, the school was caught in a difficult position between rising costs and the need to provide education for its students, reminiscent of the current situation most proprietors have found themselves.

You're welcome 🤗

There has never been any good time in this country truth be told. I listened to a 1977 song track about how things were so difficult too back then, exactly what happened then is what we are facing currently and one wonders why this country can't move forward...

Honestly it's best to just give up hoping this country can be ok any time soon.

grin funny but true.

A simple search on Google should tell you that Buhari took over power in December 1983, so he couldn't have caused the said "hardship" on the 30th of November 1983.
As a matter of fact, the military used the said hardship as an excuse to overthrow the Shagari led civilian government. Gosh!,we need to reintroduce the study of history in our schools.

Shagari plunged Nigeria into recession through unmitigated, unseen-before massive corruption.

Check the beginning of Onyeka Owenu's documentary in 1983 on YouTube.

Shagari was a democratically elected president, they should have allowed him to complete his tenure. The economy under Shagari was far better than under the military governments that succeeded him. Corruption under Shagari was small compared to what eventually happened under the military

I remember when there was trade by batter, you must have had an equivalent to exchange for something and that brought the mathematics of equation, measuring two equations termed “b” and “a” or “y” and “x” to equate the midpoint of -1, in this instances, take for example what you would describe your students on the economic scales of needs and wants, goods and services, demands and supplies. Your answer must have been the results of the mathematics you are not keeping as the head of academics called the principle of accounting of cr and dr

You youngings...need to go back to the archives.

Babangida, the evil Genius, appointed Dr. Solarin as head of ppls' bank, but wait...what about the board of directors and others?
They were handpicked by Babangida, as sleeper agents, to make sure the bank failed ( the original plan).

Ppl forget that Babangida conducted elections and pretended he was going to handover to democrats, but then took the title " President Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida" not "General" again.

He was sending a message...
All I'm saying is Babangida BELIEVED in the MACHIAVELLIAN APPROACH to life: make you assume he's going one way, but he's planning for you to fall in the pit.

For the records, Dr. Solarin resigned his position as President of the Peoples Bank: he was disgusted with what he was seeing.

He failed woefully. End of story! All these are flimsy excuses that holds no water. grin

Tai Solarin’s opinion that the problem is not scientific is debatable. From his time till date is enough data to compute the shenanigans of our economy and begin to make informed choices or else the empire will fall to individuated entities. It’s been done before . No country/empire is too big to fail, if my knowledge of history is anything to go by.

Buhari took over on December 31 1983.

The hardship was caused by the oil price crash of 1982 plus wasteful spending and corruption and the fact that we had become too oyel dependent
