They were not neglected.

They are criminals.

Many are abroad doing the same thing.

Stop justifying criminality.

Am not justifying any criminality, in fact they deserve jail terms but in a country where 90% of young people are jobless what do you expect??

my brother there is something they called self discipline and honor...it is not A MUST to be rich. There are many jobs one can do if you not the lazy and greedy kind.

There is something called honor and discipline but that doesn't negate the fact that most financial criminals went into it out of hardship and frustration. Seeing the risks they take to commit some of these crimes will tell you no right thinking human can venture into it unless no out of frustration.

However, once they go into crimes, coming out becomes difficult that's where they get corrupted

The Jamaican anti-graft agency said investigation into the cybersecurity attack was still ongoing.

Victor Olorunfemi

Two Nigerians have been arrested in Lagos for allegedly duping the Jamaican government of one million dollars.

The arrest was led by the country’s Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

According to Loop News, the two men were detained in their residence in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos following an investigation into the involvement of an international cyber group raced to Nigeria in the cyber fraud.

The three agencies subsequently coordinated an arrest warrant secured through international collaboration.

MOCA’s director of communications major Basil Jarrett said the agency had in 2023 received a complaint from the National Water Commission over an attempt to defraud them of over one million dollars through a business email compromise which had illegally routed the funds to the criminals.

Meanwhile, MOCA immediately launched an international investigation into the matter alongside US federal law enforcement partners which ultimately resulted in the stolen funds being seized while the majority of it was returned and also led to the location of the two perpetrators in Nigeria.

“MOCA, in collaboration with its US federal law enforcement partners, launched an intensive, international cyber investigation into the attack, resulting in the monies being frozen and ultimately, the majority of it being returned,” Mr Jarret said in a statement released by MOCA.

“This outcome not only highlights the resilience and preparedness of our cybersecurity defences but also underscores the critical importance of international cooperation in addressing cyber threats,” he added while also commending NWC quick steps following the incident.

Meanwhile, MOCA noted that investigation into the cybersecurity attack was still ongoing as the agency suspected that other individuals might be involved in the sophisticated cyber fraud scheme.

This is great! I'm glad these idiots were caught.

This is exactly how the international fraudster called Emmanuel Nwude the so-called Owelle of Abagana, his wife and a few cohorts defrauded a Brazilian bank in the 1990s in what became the third biggest bank fraud in history running into millions of USD ($242 million). The idiot with his chieftaincy titles went on a spending spree purchasing skyscrapers on Allen Avenue, Lagos, and was building houses in Lagos and his Anambra home state. I remember he had massive shares in Union Bank as a director purchased with the proceeds of the advanced fee fraud stolen from the Brazilian bank.

He was celebrated in the soft cell magazines as a big boy and was even elected into the House of Reps, but when the INTERPOL finally got a hold of him in partnership with Nigerian intelligence teams, he was toast! That episode is one of the MAJOR reasons why I don't believe the supposed sources of wealth of these young people because many are drug barons with Methamphetamine labs that have been busted by the NDLEA as widely published in the mass media in housing estates in Lagos, Abuja, Asaba, and their Anambra towns such as Nnewi, Obosi, Ozubulu, Ihiala, etc.

Some are international fraudsters like this Emmanuel Nwude guy, Obinwanne Okeke otherwise called Invictus, and Hush Puppy, so, it's very important to know peoples sources of sudden money before hailing them as examples of genuine entrepreneurs. Period.

Weren't you neglected by the government? Why didn't you venture into internet scam? Your likes are the one supporting those internet fraudster with this kinda statement. Instead of you to condemn evil act, you're drumming support by saying government neglected them. Nigerian government has been neglecting her citizens since inception.

It's a shame.
They can never see it. They are too opportunitistic to see what damage this is causing. Only this morning, I was engaged in conversations with some Nigerians who thought someone inadvertently sending money into their account was simply channeling them their blessings. That's how weird the thinking has gone.

It's actually not that hard...you are trained to be careful not to click on links...they can download virus...and they will Just download password and appear to be someone else...it's elaborate but with tech and more international coordination, days of scammers are numbered. US will track IPs and supply to Naija Authority to carry out the raids...and those VPNs lol...may be US virus too...making you believe you can mask your location ...even encryption US intelligence can hack..good luck

Go tell am Bola Almed Tinubu first... He paved the way as an high ranking officer of fraud to the whole world, so where head na fraud what do you expect again to hear.
Your reasoning is blinded by tribal prejudice. Tinubu was never convicted (as a fact) of any fraud...not even a rigged election. Your agitation to have someone of your choice to be president does not mean you should now give a dog a bad name just to hang it.

The annoying thing is your fellow smartphone literates can't present an objective argument at any time..just abusive/cursive language.

Even Obi (that you claim to support) has tried to disassociate from your mental numbness.

Na wa o.
How these boys dey do am sef?
Not that complicated, all you have to do is know how to spam

They use spamming tools to gain access to the email box of the CEOs or CFOs of any company that is their target, then they monitor the transactions the CFO is in charge of

Imagine you are the CEO or CFO of a huge furniture company and you are doing business with another company that wants to do interior decoration for a hotel worth 500k dollars

Once the company you are doing business with asks for your account number to pay the money into, they send their own account number which is extremely similar to the company’s own OR they clone the email of the CEO/CFO, control the entire transaction and send their own account number from there

The account number is usually provided by third parties in Asia, once the money gets there, the trail is lost forever because you can’t investigate money laundering in Asia due to their strict laws

These guys probably used a compromised picker

Don’t ask me how I know

The is just one the so many cyber crime cases that goes unreported daily worldwide. Cyber security is a must for every organization, be it public or private.

Business email compromise is a major threat with highest rate of success.

These guys are geeks, and I know one thing for sure is that the FBI is just arresting to make them private consultants, so when ever there is a cyber crime their expertise will be used. Note that in Business email compromise you don't follow any script like dating scam, BEC demand expertise. If you doubt just try sending several BEC emails if they will not end up in trash/spam box courtesy of DMARC and SPF.
