This is a sign of a failed society where there's no mortgage facilities

The rate at which we sell land anyhow in this country makes me laugh

If things are well.structured, the person who built this house will afford well completed 2bdr & parlour mortgage house. Instead of only him owing a full plot of land, the said plot of land can easily contain 12 units of 2bdr flat with 3 units on each floor. By so doing, large parcel of land will be preserved and there will be no need for anybody going deep bush to build house. Building a house inside thick forest should not be celebrated but I don't blame some of the people building houses inside forest because these days, caretakers parading themselves as estate agent are very wicked, a house that landlord gave them to let out at the rate of 400k over year they will inflate the price to 600k per year & total package will be 900k per year whereas with 400k per annum, total package supposed to be 480k naira only

Government failure

Greediness of estate agent

Mentality that anybody who's yet to build house is a failure

These are the 3 factors that contributing to people building this kind of houses

A residential building is not supposed to be far from healthcare centres, police stations etc

There is nothing wrong with completing a section of your building first and move in before completing the rest. Things are extremely hard so man must improvise to survive.

Some useless tenants that cannot afford even a room in a city will not learn lessons from this picture. They will be owing landlords years of rent and still be fighting them instead to go build one small cubicle in a remote location where no one will disturb them.

Everybody wants to live in the city.

That's the issue I have with that building. The money spent on roofing alone (planks) would probably buy few more blocks. Why do people keep adopting high roofing systems these days. Some people don't have a justifiable reason for their actions oooo

Polytechnic graduates are practically way more efficient than university graduates in engineering and construction fields.

Ask the employers.

The house isn't complete. He just developed one wing so he could move in. When that building is complete you won't even recognize it again.
