20k can add to what a parent is giving to the student and support them monthly.

Please stop responding to sadists. Nothing you say or show they won't find fault with.

Their hatred for Tinubu, an extension of their hatred for Yorubas, is irredeemable. Meaning they will alway attack any of his good initiatives you bring here.

They are nasty trolls so don't feed them.

Great initiative and I am glad the FG is delivering on its promise. Quality education, the type that trains solutions providers, will solve 99% of the problems of Nigeria

This is the first time students will be benefiting from FG right from the source.

Also, I like the initiative of the upkeep. With this, it will solve problem of middlemen.

If FG want to disburse any economic outreach to students, they now have their accounts that can be tracked. Compared to when politicians will just prop up fake names to siphon money.

Unfortunately, what can 20k do for the students in a month? Indomie alone is 15k per carton now. Won't the student transport himself to school? What about other needs of the student? This is more like blowing air into the eyes of a blind man. It makes no difference!!

so the govt should take the entire responsibility for feeding, transport, and everything, haba. We are ven talking about university students not primary or secondary sch pupils o

No it hasn’t solved all the problems. Nigeria problem cannot be solved in a day.

However, this will solve the problem of several hundred thousands of students whose parent cannot afford to pay their school fees.

It will put 240k per annum in the account of those students for upkeep.

This is a good step in the right direction.

Will they receive 20K monthly?

I feel this is a waste of public funds. This is just another avenue to loot.

So what do you propose? Government should use it to pay subsidies to ghost since anything given directly to the common man is a waste.

Will they receive 20K monthly?

Yes every month for 12 month.

So in the next session, they reapply for the loan if they still want it and they continue receiving the 20k monthly.

if you don't respond you'll allow them to form another narrative, already someone is saying it's a waste of public funds for money going directly to beneficiaries, I admit the govt itself has not done enough sensitizing the public about this as many even think it's a scam as usual. I learned many medical students at a university can't benefit now as they refused to apply.

but the students are already receiving it in their account, how's that a waste?

Have you heard the phrase "Ghost workers" before? Those in charge will start disbursing funds to fictitious names that are not even students. In the end, someone will end up becoming a billionaire.

You are right that they are trolls.

But I just had to do one or two responses for unsuspecting public who they will mislead with their hate.

Southern students must apply massively for the loan for those who can’t afford their school fees.

I'm happy Tinubu is failing grin

Master strategist with no strategy. He took our money that was used for subsidy to start distributing it to few people
LegendHero:
FG have started disbursing the student loan which they pay directly to the university. In addition to that, students are receiving 20k monthly for the upkeep money.

Many student have taken to Twitter to share screenshots of the alert they received and the NELFUND official Twitter page is now bubbling with events.

The fund is not available to all universities yet as it was disbursed to six university with the required approval and those starting their session.

Are they not doing BVN and NIN verification any more?

It’ll be hard to loot this. It is a big hassle for student to even get approved because they go through rigorous verification to confirm they are genuine student.

It’s a connection between NELFUND, schools, and students.

Those three bodies will checkmate eachother.

You don’t need to trust it. When people start receiving and showing their proof in the hundreds of thousands, no one will beg before you trust it.

Of course there is. This is why fraud and kidnapping have become a thing of the past in Nigeria.

it's to supplement the student expenses or do you expect the govt to feed the students for the entire month?

That's what I'm trying to let him know that whatever Tinubu is trying to achieve with this 20k payment is so small compared to the damage he has done, that the effort is looking almost insignificant.

In 2005 when I was in Unilag with my younger brother, if I'm sent 20k the money could last almost a month for the both of us taking care of all our needs, in fact the first time I was sent 30k it was almost like 300k value in my account, I was actually feeding a friend who was broke at the time for weeks from the same money after sharing with my brother grin...

I'm not putting all the blame on Tinubu but he further compounded it in just less than a year...

I'm not saying 20k is too small or too big but I can tell you 20k in present day Nigeria isn't what it used to be in value before Tinubu came onboard...

Students and non-students will definitely receive the funds, and in the end, the corrupt ones will become richer. The same thing happened with Covid-19 funds.

OP is doing a good job strengthening his case. Those with open minds will take the positive message he is delivering.

Those with hidden agenda will bait till they succeed in derailing the thread if given too much attention.

If a parent is giving 20k before to their student and they always complain of hunger. FG giving them 20k more to make 40k is a good thing as this will at least make things better for them.

If I go on Twitter today and say I want to do giveaway of 20k for students, almost 90% of student will drop account.

Please, say something else. They do workers verification more often than not, but there are still thousands of ghost workers literred across ministries. These people always find a way to cheat the process.

You're right and I think this is very good feedback, perhaps going forward the 20k can be increased to cope with the present-day realities.

people cheat systems and processes all over the world so it's no big deal, it's up to the govt agency involved to do their checks and balances like JAMB that can now easily detect fake JAMB results.
