so the govt should take the entire responsibility for feeding, transport, and everything, haba. We are ven talking about university students not primary or secondary sch pupils o
Are you aware it's a loan that's to be paid back? You make it sound as if they are giving them free money. What's the point of a loan that can't meet your expenses and you might need to borrow more.
Look at all those alerts, most of them had less than 1k before the 20k entered.

This is the first time students will be benefiting from FG right from the source.

Also, I like the initiative of the upkeep. With this, it will solve problem of middlemen.

If FG want to disburse any economic outreach to students, they now have their accounts that can be tracked. Compared to when politicians will just prop up fake names to siphon money.
This is not true. There was student loan in the 70s and it was scrapped due to the fact that most loanees couldn't pay back

Secondly, FG has many grant and awards for students in different universities before student loans so how can you claim this is the first time students are benefitting from FG. Have you considered that students now pay more in fees than before in exchange for student loans? How is this something to be joyful about?

I hope you know it's not by force to apply for the loan too. Many have refused to apply so what's the stress

What can 0 Naira do for students every month?

Which student was getting 0naira? Stop saying what you don't know

Fed universities were tuition free before the student loan thing started. Now, students are being given money to pay for tuition fee which they will be expected to start paying back immediately they finish NYSC.

So how is this a good thing?

people cheat systems and processes all over the world so it's no big deal, it's up to the govt agency involved to do their checks and balances like JAMB that can now easily detect fake JAMB results.

How can the government agency do their checks when they are the ones cheating the process? Did you think I was referring to the masses? And no, in most countries, public servants are not rogue, and are often held accountable for maladministration. So, don't try to justify nonsense.

The stress is that the loan is not worth it. It is basically for students who can't afford the fees right? Well, how does it make sense that you are giving them money that will not see them through the school and at the same time, expect them to pay back?

How does that change the fact that it does not solve any problem

This reminds me of anchor borrowers scheme

Same folks who were hyping it are now blaming Buhari for everything wrong in the country

If your head is woven around politics that is your business. I'm speaking my mind how I see it.

I have not said anyone should not take it if they are interested. Besides, Nigeria has over 2million students in universities alone and the beneficiaries are just 20k. How those were selected I don't know but it is obvious majority students don't believe in the scheme

You really believe only 20k students applied out of about 2million students?

You know they are real students when account balance after receiving 20k did not reach 21k on the first week of the month.

Which of the FG school is paying tuition? Tuition is free in Nigeria.

It is still tuition free even with the student loan. It seems you’re getting your news from elsewhere.

Show proof of FG schools paying tuition abeg. Let’s see the itemization that says they are paying a penny for tuition in FG schools.

Seems you missed the news when FG schools were increasing their fees last year.
Almost ALL Fg schools increased their fees last year

Stop saying nonsense. Schools are increasing fees and tuition is still free.

Even before student loan, schools increase fees back from 1999 because they adjust.

Are we paying same amount we are paying in 1999 in all FG schools?

How much I paid in FUTA keep increasing across every 2 years at least and sometimes they just slam some increase yet tuition is still free.

Go and check the itemization for those students, tuition is still N0 even till today.

Below is UNN in 2022 increasing fees. This is before Tinubu.
Another in 2017 where almost 10 FG school increase school fees.

The NUC had to come out to claim tuition was still free after much outcry
You're not in Nigeria but you'll be arguing about events from your cocoon

BTW, the headlines you're posting says tuition fees while your argument has been that no tuition. Are you arguing against yourself now?

lol see this one. I am more on ground than you.

I have cousins that I am paying school fees for regularly. That’s because I’m still young and not married yet to even having kids.

See Nigeria don’t know the difference between tuition and schoolfees. So they use it interchangeably. So while you see news house writing it as tuition, they still mean school fees.

In 2017, FG universities hike tuition, yet tuition is still N0. That’s simple because they hike school fees.

Since you said na Tinubu student loan cause school to start charging tuition, why is FG increasing tuition in 2017?

FG have started disbursing the student loan which they pay directly to the university. In addition to that, students are receiving 20k monthly for the upkeep money.

Many student have taken to Twitter to share screenshots of the alert they received and the NELFUND official Twitter page is now bubbling with events.

The fund is not available to all universities yet as it was disbursed to six university with the required approval and those starting their session.
