Facto! Apt in BankyGee's voice!

Your last paragraph is the koko!
Most recent Olympic winners are trained in US Universities just like our athletes too. Even the European Athletes bar few!

I wanted to comment on this earlier today but decided against it. It's obvious many do not even understand the problems they want to solve. Let's get this out of the way, our administrators are bad, ineffectiveness and everything in-between and maybe we can attain a little more success if they fix up, but that isn't the problem.

The truth is Nigeria is not rich enough to fund sports or prepare athletes for the Olympics. . It takes an average of $100k yearly to prepare a gymnast for the Olympics and for other sports ranges from 20-50k$ yearly for each athletes. This is the cost implicationin societies with already established facilities. We just can't measure up. Also, most of the funding for these countries come from sponsors and private organisations. They shoulder the responsibility of financing sports.

The truth is Nigeria has a better chance at medalling at the the Olympics if Government gets out of Sports administration completely. That way civil servants will know there's no free money to feast on and it opens up sports associations for more equipped people who can sell the business to take charge.

On the alternate, we can spend more identifying future talents void of sentiments and nepotism, then find a way to get them highschool/college scholarships in the US so US can train them for us. That's what we've been doing the last few years anyways.

It is simply delusional to think just 1 year support brought this success. lol! They came in when she was already breaking records upon records at NCAA. Normal norm for developing countries. How many of their Athletes got the same support?

When did she leave St Lucia? From where did she join Texas Tech, and what year? lol!

Will USA grant its A list athletes diplomatic passport ?

Both teams are not that good! The female team has been lucky especially against Colombia. Nothing spectacular there!

Multiple reports have it that Victor Osimhen may have to remain at Napoli because:

- He and his agent reportedly don't want a loan deal of any type.

- He and his agent reportedly won't accept any wage cut.

I like this St Lucia you mentioned, this was last year. Her government saw potential then decided to invest
What our athletes needs is support even from individuals…..Chioma Ajunwa was able to win Olympic gold cuz Segun Odegbami took over her management and supported her training programs when she was finding it difficult to get financial assistance from sports ministry

Only you said most of our athletes are based in the US, and at the same time you are making this submission.

I think your problem is that you think I’m blaming this current government. What has Nigeria achieved in the history of Olympics?, you tell me why we never win a good number of medals. Let me hear ur wise take then. Waiting

Mod
Compared to Naija that has won a total of 27 medals in the history of Olympics

Chelsea would have signed Osimhen if it weren't for AFCON! Having both Osimhen and Jackson doesn't make sense with a disorganized federation like CAF. However, I still think Chelsea will sign him, especially with Conte wanting Lukaku. That Omidiran link is just a to force Napoli's hand!

This wasn’t suppose to be an argument. He wrote a whole lot which still points back to government. It’s either you are playing dumb or plain dumb. Dude how old are u sef?

Joebie:
Dude, government policies determines if the private sector will thrive or not. This is very basic

No one is absolving government of responsibility, if you read my post carefully I said as much. The crux of mt my argument is even with good administrators and policy backup there's little we can achieve because Nigeria sadly isn't rich enough to fund sports. It is why my advocacy is for government to completely handsoff sports in Nigeria.

So my argument isn't for more government policies but just one policy, which is government divesting from sports.

Also, the private sector in Nigeria is well equipped to fund sporting events in Nigeria. The only reason they won't right now is because there's little or no return on investments when they partner with any sporting brand. Government divesting totally from telecommunications and entertainment is what led to the boost we've seen in both industries. BB naija which is just a program here more sponsorship yearly than Nigeria's biggest sporting brand the Super Eagles and all their money comes from the private sector.
