Is Arabic all that Almajiri schools were supposed to teach?

Why can't they learn the regular Boko (Western Education) like the rest of the country. They can even learn it in Arabic, Fulfude or Hausa. Even Saudi children are learning Boko. Are they more pious than the Holy land?

The decimal system we use today is from Islamic scholars - and taken /appropriated from Hindus. No one then had any problems taking knowledge from dyed in the wool idol worshippers and appropriating it. But today we have dogmatic brainless clowns who want the respect and fear of the Islam of the past without the knowledge that gave that power.

You can see that Sanusi's position here(As a northerner) is different from Fashola's criticism of the Almajari school system.

While Fashola is talking down on the Almajari system lamenting that Almajari graduates will not be equipped with necessary employable skills, Sanusi actually thinks an Almajari is as good as a regular literate person.

If Sanusi a core northern elite believes an Almajari being able to read and write in Arabic is enough, where does that leave southerners who believe otherwise?

The Jews and Muslims, kinda similar in the way they carry their religion.

Even the Jews are like that. I was watching a documentary on DWTV about the Jew community in the UK. How some of those kids are tought Torah and Hebrew same way those Almajiri are thought Arabic and Quran.

In Islamic settings, the system is good but it has been bastardised with children on the street begging. Left for me, it should be scrapped. There is a school called Islamiyya. They can teach them Islam, Quran and Arabic in that school. The kids here are properly dressed with uniform.

I don't agree with Sanusi on the literacy issue. Maybe yes in Islam but definitely NO in Nigeria setting. Sanusi wei some of his children graduate from abroad school.

GloriousGbola:

What is the actual value of 'Islamic literacy'?

Sanusi got his Islamic degrees after he got western degrees and worked in a bank. On its own Islamic literacy will have done the same thing for Sanusi it did for the almajiris - nothing. Could he have become CBN governor with that?

Even in the west you do not have hundreds of people studying theology in university.

You know the way liberal arts degrees are often mocked? This is the same thing. What is the monetary value of Islamic literacy beyond a communal flex where you are addressed as 'mallam'?

Then again I am a lowercase Muslim concerned with the distractions of this brief world tongue

I remember the guy who was teaching us Arabic as kids. He is now on a state pilgrimage board I think. He did well for himself. But How many pilgrimage boards are there? What is there for 'islamically literate' people outside of packaged ilekewu for children of the rich?

Is just a religious thing and nothing else. You know, some people are very religious.

So who does he support in Rivers state, fubara or wike? 😁

You're rationalizing the continuation of the almajiri system as is, and someone points out the problem with the current almajiri system and this is your response cheesy

Ope is notoriously bad with politics. I find some of his takes genuinely weird.

The only calculation that will return BAT in 2027 is rigging. None of that NC or SS alliance.

Tinubu winning in Rivers and Hope winning in IMO conclusively showed that this is false. The only thing you need to rig is INEC.

Infact, the only reason Otti won was INEC despite his popularity.

Apartheid Boy seems very invested in periodically stoking unrest and heating up the polity. I’m really curious what his end goal is. I understand that the only ideals the rich really are aligned with are the ideologies that doubles financial equity and Musk can give a rats arsë about free speech and other lamba he keeps yarning for the simple to ingest.

What do you suppose is Musk‘s end game?

Rigging has never made sense.

Uzodinma won with over 500,00 votes in IMO. Ododo had more votes than voters registered in some places. Tinubu had more than 80,000 votes in Obio Akpor. All of these guys are serving their term now.

If that INEC woman had compromised, Otti will not be on seat today and there's nothing anybody would have done about it.

2027 still far sha...

These Northerners showed their hand early when his administration began, he should have since then begun building alliances North Central, SS and maybe SE, but his appointments, refusal to speak to the issues in the Middlebelt and persisting in campaign mode (ronu rascals stayed ronuing) showed he believed in his NW/NE alliance a little too much.

An alliance down South and in the Middlebelt is too obvious a play at this point...maybe he's banking on executive powers and INEC to do the job for him.

That type of blatant rigging in 2027 will lead to a crisis in the North.
If he can't shore up support and build a winning coalition by February 2027, he should quietly return to Iragbiji.

Nigeria is bigger than Tinubu.
He should not create conditions for the military to return.

Perhaps you have to cast your mind back to 2011 when Buhari lost. What happened eventually?

Doubt the outcome of Tinubu rigging will come any close to that.

Tinubu doesn't have the support of the masses down south.

That plays a major role in these things bro.
GEJ was loved in the south so the north could only do it and be done with it.

The SS and SE nor like tinubu.
Surely you don't think it's only SW he is looking as a base

Maybe you don't get my point. As it stands today, Tinubu has no base anywhere. Not even in the SW.

With the way he's going about his presidency, it seems obvious to me he's banking on INEC.

Another major issue is Tinubu surviving a campaign run, him being as unpopular as he is means he'd need to campaign aggressively... With the way Dem dey hide the man like palliative, it's clear he's still not quite there physically and cognitively...gaffess go just too much, hurting his chances even more.

3 years still far, and the man has a mandate to deliver, that might yet save him.

2011 to 2027 is 16 years apart.
We are surrounded by military regimes and there's a Cold War underway.
Political dynasties in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have fallen.

4 more years of Tinubu is not worth that risk.
SE, NW, NE will not vote for him.
At least half of NC and half of SS will not vote for him.

Any such blatant rigging will make 2011 sound like a walk in the park.
And he'll have to sic the military. Hundreds if not thousands will die and when the dust settles he may find himself in France.
He still has some time to build a viable coalition and then he can pump up his numbers to eke out a win.
If he wants a Maduro style election win, the outcome will shock him.
