No kind of self praising policy this useless Tinubu government has not introduced, yet no tangible result. Just waiting for 2027 so that we can throw out this directionless government

Policies that dont trickle down.

Policies that line the pocket of the rich.

Food can never be cheap with current petrol prices.

There is something called supply chain, which tinubu and the rest of his administration is refusing to acknowledge.

You cannot make the supply change expensive (with expensive fuel) and expect food to be cheap.

You are out of touch with implementation of your fiscal policies.
This is what I've been saying
There's no food shortage in Nigeria. At least, the high cost of food items is not caused by food shortage. What we are battling with is cost of doing business. Any business be it agric or tech and it is caused by spiralling fuel price.
Any other thing is just a waste of time. Even the imported food will still be transported. The dollars to import it will still be sourced at 1600 to a dollar!

Unfortunately, the sun is beginning to lose its touch with good journalism. I took my time to read the Op and I didn't see any strategy. The exact quote from the minister is just what everyone who took economics classes in senior secondary school should know so I wonder where the strategy is outlined in the story. This is shameful.

“When inflation comes down, the exchange rate will stabilise. Interest rates will come down and the economy will have a chance. People will have a chance at reasonable rates to invest in various sectors of the economy, increase productivity, grow the economy and create jobs which is the key to reducing poverty,” he said.

“As food prices decrease, inflation is expected to drop, which will stabilise the exchange rate and lower interest rates. This environment will encourage investments, boost productivity, and create jobs—essential steps in reducing poverty” he said.

So long as corruption and looting is still the talk of the day, all this strategic approach will always be a sham.
He built Lagos, but in Lagos he was the sole looters, nationally now there's region by region looting, state by state, then personalized/individualized looting.

Tinubu can't change course for better. He doesn't know how and what to do.
The hope available now is soonest this hunger and hardship will be the new normal, people will get use to it and move on with life.

You've said it as it is. Nothing will change.
People will only get use to it and move on with their life.
This is the whole truth and very unfortunate.
You did something and the economy turned upside down. You need to undo your actions to put the economy in order.
Instead of this, you are running from pillar to post, making empty promises, sharing audio palliatives, giving Governors and whoever cares more money and expecting things to change.

This is a welcome development, finally some serious planning from the FG. It's about time they put the citizens' welfare at the forefront instead of the usual empty promises. Let's see how this strategy translates into real benefits for everyday Nigerians.

It's a commendable effort by the Minister. Loans for the informal sector weren't mentioned; loans from government programs or financial institutions typically require business registration. The issue of farmers' insecurity must also be addressed, and we need more companies that are export-intensive. Most of our youths have a skill deficit required in the modern-day economy.

To capitalize on the government's initiatives, align your business strategy with food security, inflation control, and financial support measures outlined by the Minister. Engage with relevant stakeholders, research more funding opportunities, and adapt your operations to leverage these focus areas effectively.

With Sen. Abubakar Kyari on the saddle @ FMAFS, President Tinunu's administration will hardly achieve any of its plans for the agricultural sector.

That being said, it's high time the President rejig his cabinet & throw out dead weights of which his cabinet is loaded with many of them. He should also consider appointing a non-northerner as Agric Minister; last time we'd a Minister in that ministry that actually made any impact that even - majority if not all - smallholder farmers (who produce at least 80% of our Agric produce) could attest to, he was a non-northerner (Dr. Akin Adesina, now AfDB President).

Since then, every other Agric Minister (before him & till date, all of them northerners) have just been occupying that position with nothing tangible to show for it other than a trail of corruption and bad loans.

how have all these you have said improved the living standard of nigerians?

after removing fuel subsidy, tinubu has resorted to giving out palliatives running into billions if not trillions in the name cushioning the effects of removal of fuel subsidy.

if you are going to be giving out "palliatives" running into billions to cushion the effects of removing fuel subsidy, why then remove the fuel subsidy in the first place?

if fuel subsidy is not sustainable, how is giving out palliatives everyday sustainable?

how is sharing palliatives everyday better than fuel subsidy?

how has palliatives improved standard of living, reduced inflation and made the economy better?

if tinubu is a first class accountant as you guys claim, why didnt he focus on auditing fuel subsidy management and NNPC as a whole to remove the fraud in the system?

how has the harmonised fx benefitted the nigerian economy?

is nigeria better off now or worse off than before?

after "harmonising fx", the same tinubu went to Afrexim bank to borrow 3billion dollars to defend the naira using crude oil yet to be produced.

so what is the wisdom in floating the naira and still borrowing 3billion dollars to defend the naira?

lets see some of tinubus real achievements:

dollar from 700naira to 1600
bag of rice from 30,000 to 80,000
inflation from 22.79% to 40.7%
from june 2023 to december 2023, tinubu borrowed N3.8tr from CBN despite his imaginary savings he said he has made from removing fuel subsidy. the same subsidy he fought jonathan not to remove.

despite telling Nigerians that there is no money and that nigerians should accept the suffering he imposed on nigerians as a sacrifice to make nigeria better,

tinubu spent ₦3.7b on new cars and N244m on tyres.

Built new VP's house at the cost of ₦21b.

Renovated National Assembly at the cost of ₦30b

bought SUVs for the legislootors at the cost of #160m each.

Travelled to Ethiopia for just one week and expended ₦1b.

Expended over ₦90b for Hajj operation.

The commendation for announcements of this initiatives stems from their potential positive impact on the economy if implemented, addressing pressing issues.

One of d fundamental beauty of democracy lies in the power of the majority to elect their representatives, allowing the electorate to judge the skills and capabilities of government officials through the democratic process of elections. Accountability bcums a serious deficit when they finally cling power.

Independent institutions, transparency laws, and civil society vigilance are vital checks to enforce accountability when leaders finally consolidate power. Upholding media freedom, judicial independence, and electoral integrity complements these mechanisms to safeguard against abuses of authority.
