A national embarrassment anyway.

Japan attained national literacy in 1900. That’s 224 years ago. When will Nigeria attain such a feat? Without doubt, education is a factor in fighting poverty.

Funny generalization. You've obviously not been to Idi Araba, Alaba Rago, etc. They have communal enclaves where they live with their wives and kids.

It's a lie. I can say that with confidence because I worked in the agency for Non-Formal Education which gathered such statistics in my state. SW. We normally cook statistics in order to get grants from international donors. I can bet it, the total number of out of school children in SW can not reach 1%. What are they doing at home, even the poorest of the poor strive to enrol their children in private school.
the statistics is moderately correct. Out of school children in Lagos alone is massive

Okay, it shows that those guys failed to capture those children that are selling Gala in Lagos and in other regions, again it's the smallest region
The one they recorded as out of school are those one hawking agbo and quick action in every corner of southeast.

The eastern kids in the West enrolled in schools far outnumber the Northern kids. If you're talking about settlers that are contributing to the high numbers of out of school kids in the west, The SE isn't significantly represented.

It's higher by both absolute numbers and percentage.
Re: Percentage Of Out Of School Children Per Zones In Nigeria by Tizu(m): 10:12pm On Aug 07
That 3.7% in the SE are the children of northerners living in the region.
Also same with that of the South West.
Go to Agege and Ebute Metta you will confirm what I have said.

Re: Percentage Of Out Of School Children Per Zones In Nigeria by Bandirao(m): 10:23pm On Aug 07
This lists is so highly biased against the north, although there are many displaced persons in the north who are displaced by bandits and boko haram living in idp camps contributing to the high figures, There are many who are attending almajiri system, indeed almajiri system needs to be formalized by the fg so as to avoid confusion like this
Re: Percentage Of Out Of School Children Per Zones In Nigeria by Azazyel: 10:25pm On Aug 07
I know a lot of people would come here to laugh at SW forgetting that there are many people from other regions living in the southwest. The research was done based on location and not nativity. If the non-natives were excluded, you would see the data drop to 2% and below.

Re: Percentage Of Out Of School Children Per Zones In Nigeria by OBALUJONES: 10:28pm On Aug 07
Reduction in south of school drop out was because the mother's in south are hardworking, today, it is those mother's that are responsible in sending their children to school.some father's are responsible in sending children to school but few of them, in the northern part, mother's are not allow to work, the mother's are not allow to come out, therefore the father's probability of sending most of their children to school will reduce and drop out will have to increase. In the north , you will only see man in the market except the others tribe

You see one of the reasons they want Igbos out? They can't stand the competition. They prefer the north that can be handled.

South East drop outs are being counted for South West since they refused to stay for their region.
