I used to think this way. Recently, I decided to help a brother who read mass communication to find a job. I was shocked. This guy can't even find his name on the Internet. This guy can't do practically anything on his own.

This is someone that spent all his days complaining about lack of jobs in the country.

I told him if I am an employer, I can never employ you. You want me to display your mass communication degree on the wall In the office? Is that what will do the job? Zero skills. You think we owe you jobs because you have a degree you can't even defend.

43000 out of 52000 failed.
Only 9000 passed.
Cut-off mark 50%.

A clear signal that our qualify of education is dropping, & more people are regarding education as scam. To them, going to school is just to get the certificate, &not to learn.
Imagine if cut off mark was 70-80, failure rate would have had 95%

The future of Education in this country most esp Oyo state is scary, we are in deep shit. The present admin in Oyo state failed terribly in terms of Education and the genesis could be traced to when he remove the 1k per term levy of Ajimobi.
The masses was happy then when he removed it but that single move made me lose hope on GSM and I know nothing good could come out of his admin.
The 1k then although was initially mismanaged but gradually, changes started coming to public schools, they started making chairs, etc.
A woman then went to agidigbo and started lamenting on how she has to pay 3k annually for her 5 kids in school, my question to her is why will you have 5 children when you can't afford 15k in a whole year.
We deserve our leaders

Forget this, the questions were not hard for intending applicants, 50 question in all, 30 questions from your field, 5 questions each from Maths and English, 5 from Critical thinking and the rest from current affairs.

I still maintain my position that 80% of Nigerian Graduates are not employable

Oga those ppl failed, i personally knew like 8 ppl that applied, 3 ppl scored 64, 60, and 50 while the rest performed woefully and it was not surprising considering how I evaluated their thinking.
Those 3 ppl no get anyone except their Creator, infact one of the ppl that failed was boasting that he has given his form to a Governor Aide before the result was released
God bless you for your submissions and being truthful.
Gov. Makinde's removal of 1k per term levy introduced by late Ajimobi was a very bad policy of his government. He did it just to earn cheap popularity. Most schools in Oyo state conduct exams by writing with chalk on the boards. Why removing the 1k when he knew the schools would not be funded?
The quality of education in Oyo state needs total review. My 2 cousins that sat for the teaching test also failed woefully

The result was manipulated to stop large number of people from advancing to the next stage.

Why do you people keep shouting "manipulation" up and down. So they manipulated the results to favour the strangers and demerit another stranger.

What i see to the mass failure is that the test are set outside the scope of majority's expectations. You may find it difficult to secure fifty if you're not into education (teaching the subject you are tested on). 80 percent of the questions asked on your area of concentration are drafted from JAMB past questions. They just picked from the technical past questions.

A good percentage of people who applied have left schools for many years.

Why is it that the poorest in UTME are meant to go to colleges of education?

That's not fair!

You already concluded that majority of the said applicants are NCE holders. You're playing , right?

No! I didn't conclude!

And it's just only one of my opinions!

The bar should be raised for all educational courses!

But remains the foundational problem of poor teacher trainees in Nigeria.

Go and check the cut off marks for education-related courses and you'll see what I'm saying!

So it was because 1K levy was removed 5years ago in public primary and secondary schools that made these ones to fail or what is the correlation in this and that? What?

Do you know what that levy did? It made Oyo to have the highest number of out of school children in the SW. After its removal over one hundred thousand students have returned back to school.

Or is it Lautech? A school that was shut for over a year even with exorbitant school fees they were paying then

Do I support people having children they can't take care of? CAPITAL NO. But when it comes to primary and secondary education, It must be totally free. An Educated society will do better than one that isn't

Do I support

I'm not sure you went to public schools or visited any one in this present oyo state admin.

Did you know that in many public schools in Ibadan, exams are being written on chalkboard for students?

No chairs, leaking roofs, teachers are also not involved with the student welfare again as long as their salaries are getting paid which of course GSM is doing that.

Is that a proper education?
The Yoruba said "the number of teeth doesn't matter, but how strong it is to bite meat"

Let me give you a case study,
Eleta High School in ibadan, before the 1k per term thing was one of the worst schools in Ibadan, but during the 1k regime, some visible changes started occurring, roofs were being fixed, part time teachers were employed to augment subjects with no teachers etc

After the removal, things are so bad that, there is no more chair in the classrooms, students of different classes have to pack themselves in non leaking classes when there is rain.. Teachers are no longer interested in student welfare.

A cousin of mine going to CAC, Muslim, preparing for WAEC, I was asking him the other day about his academics and he said they only have teachers for 8 subjects and 2 of those 8 don't regularly come. These students are expected to write 9 subjects in WAEC.

The honest truth of the matter is the government can not fully funded our schools again be it primary or secondary due to whatever reasons be it corruption or lack of funds..

Can you or the elite send your wards to public secondary schools as it is now ?

The idea of paying 1k token per term is a great one if we are being honest with ourselves

And the Lautech part, kindly check on anyone in Lautech now to know about their fees

You see the rot in public education in fairness to ajimobi didn't start under him but he barely did a thing. He only wanted to push his inefficiency in public education to the people.

I'm happy that you mentioned non availability of teachers. Ajimobi did 8years and he didn't do any recruitment. Today seyi has done over 22K

5000 for secondary school teachers in his first term
7000 for primary schools. The last time primary school recruitment were done was during ladojas tenure in 2003. Over 20 years ago. Do you know how many people would have retired then

Another 10,000 again for secondary and special schools. If Ajimobi had even done half of the recruitment seyi is doing, you know it would have gone a long way. Maybe you should put sentiments aside and look at the facts.

Schools under Ajimobi were also heavily dilapidated. He was just building three models schools when we had those that were spoilt. What is the essence of building a new house when you haven't completed the one you are living. It makes no sense

Today Seyi's investment in education no administration has surpassed it since 1999. It is only Bola Ige that has surpassed seyi in investment in education.

Still yet there is still so much more to be done. Today the renovation of schools have started apart from the ones done last year. With even the World Bank helping with a grant of 3.5Billion naira
https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/world-bank-grants-oyo-n3-5bn-to-renovate-105-schools/%3famp
1. Recruitment of 17,000 at a whoop in this period of economic meltdown

10,000 secondary and special schools
7,0000 for Primary school. The last time Primary school were done was 2003. Ajimobi never did Primary school Recruitment, all he was doing was complaining of no funds while no paying pensions and even owing salaries

See,The 1K then did nothing. It only increased the amount of out of school children because yes there are some people that cannot even afford to pay that 1K sef.

Today, what is the issue in the North? Illiteracy. Do we have a mass of uneducated people because they cannot? Capital NO.

In Europe and America,Primary and secondary schools is free. Totally free so that no child will stay at home because of fees. It is tertiary education that is expensive

I was born in the 80's and never attended a public primary school because even at then public primary schools were a sore. I only attended a public secondary school. During Ajimobi period,if you see a school that is well taken care of,it is the old students that were doing it.

Yes,it is the Old students. I know because my mum retired from saint Anne's Secondary school in 2020.

The 1K barely did a thing in school infrastructure. It only added to the high rate of out of school children in Oyo state

Since 1999 no governor that dnt do recruitment of teachers in Oyo state... Even I know lot of people that are still working that got the works during Ajimobi era. The 1k that Ajimobi introduced was good policy just to maintain each school with Students Government Body now most of public school are nothing to write about... Now most schools are collecting money codedly and let me remind you Ajimobi paid for waec in first term for students in Oyo state which GSM never do.
