Broveens42: Are the shooters shouting: Owerri on Fire; Relocate from Owerri? Similar shouts by those who made the once bubbling city of Orlu become vacated, as they shot at police and soldiers, burn government promises in Orlu, and led to IMSG abandoning Orlu since 2021. They tell people it's IPOB. But what business has IPOB with Orlu? Is Orlu the headquarters of Biafra? Is Nnamdi Kalu from Orlu? A whole region of Imo state (Orlu) and extending to Anambra State was put to ruins by political actors. 1 Like |

SmartPolician: Problem is,how are we sure the roads he's constructing are solid ... So that the next governor doesn't start constructing roads again As you said, if one governor could have constructed good roads, then the next would have focused on maybe improving the economy of the state, then the next education and health... Rather than repeating what the previous government did |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by longayink: 2:12pm On Aug 07 |
However solid a road was built, human/vehicular traffic wears off the road with time. There is population influx to Owerri from rest of Imo state, because of continued heaping of all govt institutions in Imo state in Owerri district. Human/vehicular traffic quickly tears off the roads of Owerri district. Those who located all government institutions in Imo state in Owerri, and the succeeding governors who swallowed the falsehood that every govt development project must be located in the state capital, are to be blamed for unending reconstruction of roads in Owerri district. Give it 4 more years, the roads being done in Owerri district will require resurfacing again. 1 Like |

Yampotatocarrot: He's using a good construction company - Craneburg. Craneburg constructs roads and flyovers for Lagos State government too. This is not like Rochas who patronized unknown construction companies and the roads damaged before the end of his tenure. 2 Likes |

longayink:Lame talk, repeating same old trash. So why do Anambra, Enugu, Abia and other states u claim have multiple cities still have to construct and maintain roads? I thought with the multiple developed cities they would not have to construct roads since the population is not concentrated just at one place. |

Nnewi. Every gov of Imo has been building state capital - Owerri - for 48 years. Blinded citizens don't ask why? 2 Likes

Obi1kenobi: They think development is building plenty residential, with one long road and no tar on inner streets There are many places in Imo state that feels like you are in owerri; mgbirichi/Avu, Nekede/Naze, orogwe/Irete , Nkwere/amaigbo, Ngor okpala, Obowo/7&half , Amainyi/7&half , Oguta, Owaala/Owaelu , 7&half/Malaysia market , Isinweke/ umuihi, Emekuku etc 2 Likes |

Broveens42: So people in these places build their own inner roads while IMSG builds inner roads in Owerri federal Constituency? Don't forget that Orlu is the 2nd largest urban centre in Imo state. It's the duty of IMSG to build and maintain the inner roads in Orlu urban. The inner roads in Orlu urban are too many and fully built up with posh houses, as you also observed. 3 Likes |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by longayink: 3:16pm On Aug 10 |
Obi1kenobi: Dumb talk? Owerri zone fought Udenwa over relocation of IMSU from Owerri. Owerri zone fought Ohakim over talk that IMSU would be relocated outside Owerri. Owerri zone fought Okorocha standstill over talk that IMSU would be taken from Owerri to Ideato. Don't pretend you don't know that it's all the government institutions in Owerri with students and staff population nearing 300,000, that make Owerri develop ahead of rest of Imo state. Cities develop because of just one public university in them. But Owerri zone clutches tight to more than 4 public universities, and does waka to rest of Imo state. 1 Like |

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Obi1kenobi(m): 4:07pm On Aug 10 |
longayink: Again, this is just a nonsense talking point. I don't know what you mean by "Owerri zone fought". Fought how? It's not that easy (and a waste of resources) to relocate an entire university. Nothing stopped all these Orlu zone governors from building universities in Orlu, since many Orlu village men with no imagination think that only universities bring urban development - even though Onitsha does not have one single university or tertiary institution of any kind (technical colleges, nursing colleges, teaching institutes etc) and is still by far the most populated and urbanized area of Anambra. You people's Owerri envy no go kill you sha. I've said it many times in this thread that I have heard many groups of people crying marginalization in Nigeria (usually because they are forgotten, abandoned minorities in their state) but Orlu people are the first and only existing people in Nigeria that I've heard crying marginalization despite ruling the state for over 20 out of the last 25 years in Imo state (the Owerri zone ruling for less than ONE year), and having big majorities in the Imo House of Assembly. Una no get shame at all, sha and you don't know how silly you sound to the rest of us. 3 Likes |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by longayink: 4:32pm On Aug 10 |
Obi1kenobi: You wrote "Orlu Village people." For Orlu to remain village forever is the true wish of people of Owerri zone. No blame you sha. Blame govs from Orlu zone who are building state capital for Owerri; Owerri whose people know they are more related to Ikwerre in Rivers state, than to any other group in Imo state. FYI, former gov Evan Enwerem from Owerri was number one gov responsible for underdevelopment of Orlu. Enwerem refused to continue with contract of Orlu urban roads and drainage, he refused to implement the regional water supply project of Orlu. He inherited the two projects from preceding military gov. Population influx to Owerri due to all govt institutions kept in Owerri tie the hands of govs from Orlu zone to building more roads and urban infrastructures of Owerri. Now gov Hope Uzodinma is taking on some major roads in Orlu. 2 Likes |

Nnewi is like America compare to the glorified village Owerri. Nnewi has a bigger economy compared to Owerri. Have you wondered why most imo indigenes prefer to live in Onitsha, Enugu and Awka ? Imo state is a cursed backward useless worthless state. The whole of Anambra is by far more developed than the whole of imo state that’s why Anambra is the abroad of ndi imo state . Even ordinary Ekwuluobia is getting a flyover but Owerri is yet to have a functioning flyover. Shameless people that couldn’t develop their state. Broveens42: Pictures: Owerri 4 Likes

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by 0bjpmb: 3:16pm On Aug 11 |
Owerri is generally a glorified village. Tell your governor to develop Owerri to attract outsiders to come live in Owerri. Owerri is the only place in Igboland where only imo indigenes live. Enugu and Onitsha are mostly where imo indigenes that are in the southeast prefer to live . You people should start by sanitizing and banning okada in Owerri. This is worldbank Owerri Broveens42: 2 Likes

You tell yourselves that Orlu seized governorship post of Imo state, therefore Orlu must be hated and destroyed. By the time we take it to your doorsteps, hmmm...... Frustrations? longayink: If you had common sense, you would know that every Imolite comes here to follow the progress taking place in Imo State, seeing the entire state from a broad perspective, understanding that we are one people and not complaining about things they cannot change from this platform. Nobody is your enemy. Politicians from Orlu zone holding the governorship position for years without fixing your zone are your biggest enemies. 2 Likes |

SmartPolician: The photos of Owerri youths drinking on top of flooded and worn-out Nekede-Ihiagwa road were posted on this thread or on Nl after Hope Uzodinma became Imo gov. The same period, they also posted here photos of Owerri youths conducting marriage ceremony under the flooded Egbeada-Ohi-Orogwe road. Your sort either posted the photos or you liked the photos. All were blackmail on gov Hope Uzodinma then. Shortly after, the roads were fixed. But when some of you read about mention of Orlu here, you go ballistic and insult the poster, tell the poster that he should go to govt house Owerri to complain, not here. You claim we are one in Imo state. Lies. The sad reality is that Owerri is more one with Ikwerre than to any other group in Imo state, and that explains why people of Owen zone drag every government establishment for Imo state for location in Owerri district. 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by longayink: 5:19pm On Aug 13 |
SmartPolician: Owerri has become a behemoth for city. Allow other towns in Imo state breathe fresh air. Enugu people gave a blanket cheque to former gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to modernise Nsukka. Ugwuanyi did that. In Imo state, people of Owen zone still drag practically every government establishment that induces development for location in Owerri zone. Too bad, too primitive. 1 Like |
