That's because most of the out of school children are either nwaboy learning trades and uneducated northerners that are transported to the southwest everyday.

foolish southerners will start rejoicing. they are just twisting stats to position their pockets for windfall from the centre. someone who rejects western education and goes to almajiri is not a child oit of school.

The only thing that children in Almajiri schools learn is the Quran. Nigeria does not need 15 million islamic preachers. All of these children will only be able to contribute to the economy in the most basic ways aka farming and cattle herding. They will remain in poverty and won't help Nigeria to advance. They'll either get involved in the clashes between farmers and herders or will be recruited by extremists.

If the North wants to continue rejecting western education despite its many proven benefits it can do so. Islamic countries in the middle east have all established western education but the North only wants to study the Quran. Thats fine. Thats their choice. However, if northerners then remain in poverty while the rest of the world progresses, if they continue to beg and be faced with constant insecurity because of the high population rates and low economic gains then that is but a consequence of that choice.

The percentage of out-of-school children in Nigeria varies significantly across different zones due to various socio-economic, cultural, and security factors. Here's a general overview based on recent data:

North-West Zone: This zone consistently has the highest percentage of out-of-school children. Estimates often suggest that around 60-70% of children are out of school in this region, particularly in states like Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto.

North-East Zone: Due to the Boko Haram insurgency and other conflicts, the North-East also has a high percentage of out-of-school children. Approximately 50-60% of children are out of school, especially in states like Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa.

North-Central Zone: The percentage of out-of-school children here is relatively lower compared to the North-West and North-East but still significant. The rate is around 30-40%, with states like Niger and Benue contributing to this statistic.

South-West Zone: This zone, which includes states like Lagos and Oyo, has a much lower percentage of out-of-school children, typically around 10-20%.

South-East Zone: Similar to the South-West, the South-East has a lower rate of out-of-school children, with estimates around 10-15%. States like Anambra and Imo perform relatively well in terms of school enrollment.

South-South Zone: This zone, including states like Rivers and Delta, also has a lower percentage of out-of-school children, around 15-25%.

These percentages are approximate and can vary depending on specific reports and data sources. The high rates in the northern zones are often attributed to factors like poverty, insecurity, cultural practices, and the lack of adequate infrastructure.

There was no argument. Just another ignoramus blabbing about when a simple google search could have saved his face. Hallmark of stupidity.

Umunya is a small town in Anambra and the orientation site of the state NYSC for about 26 years until they moved to the permanent site in 2019.

Many in the know would have read your comments and just laughed you off as a village clown but such ignorance and intellectual laziness is exactly why we have lots of misfits in positions of leadership today. Leaders were not born as leaders.

For your current level, your focus should be on building intellectual capacity not picking up fights on Nairaland. You are punching above your weight level.

This is my last response to you.

The eastern kids in the West enrolled in schools far outnumber the Northern kids. If you're talking about settlers that are contributing to the high numbers of out of school kids in the west, The SE isn't significantly represented.
The bolded may be right

It's a lie. I can say that with confidence because I worked in the agency for Non-Formal Education which gathered such statistics in my state. SW. We normally cook statistics in order to get grants from international donors. I can bet it, the total number of out of school children in SW can not reach 1%. What are they doing at home, even the poorest of the poor strive to enrol their children in private school.

Even in our villages and farm settlements, you hardly see children playing around during the school hours.
No matter how poor our parents especially our mothers, they will do everything in their capacity to send you to at least secondary school.
Whatever you become afterwards is your fault

most of those thugs and miscreants are still from South East. You can't see an underage selling agbo in South West.

This is exactly how Igbos leave issues and face Yorubas all the time, then start crying of tribalism, nepotism etc etc when Yorubas retaliate.

The most stinky thing about these guys is their hypocrisy; you chestbeat against others and call others tribalist when they do same, you support criminal politician because he's from your region and call others tribalist for doing same, you openly denigrate other people's cultures and values etc and then cry victimization and bigotry when others react, and so on....

You all are the greatest c.lowns the world have seen.

We have seen how PO name has been mentioned severally on a post or thread by Hausa fulani. We have see how yorubas leave elections and started attacking Igbos, my brother stop f00ling yourself there
