Owerri has become a behemoth for city.
Allow other towns in Imo state breathe fresh air.
Enugu people gave a blanket cheque to former gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to modernise Nsukka. Ugwuanyi did that.

In Imo state, people of Owen zone still drag practically every government establishment that induces development for location in Owerri zone. Too bad, too primitive.

You need to understand that Imo State is in a big mess. Someone would've thought that considering how Hope Uzodinma got into power, he would prove a point that he would be better than Emeka Ihedioha. This is exactly what's currently happening in Enugu. People generally believe that the LP candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, won.

Now, Peter Mbah is rapidly transforming Enugu to prove a point that though Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was a monumental failure who likes to eat egusi soup (yes, 90% of Enugu people will echo this and if you know Enugu well, you will agree with them), he is an excellent leader from his PDP.

He has turned Enugu into a construction site - from building new city in Emene to installing cameras to check reckless drivers, reviving abandoned state projects to building inner street roads, tackling Enugu water issue to building smart schools across the state, building world-class bus terminals to attracting foreign investors...it's a long list of projects in one year. You won't see Enugu people blowing his trumpet because they wanted LP to take over. Hence, people massively voted for LP.

In Imo State, Hope Uzodinma is more interested in politics than development. Dude is seriously working hard to become the next VP after Tinubu's tenure. That's why he is always in other states commissioning projects. When you have such a governor, you just know that you have lost a period of 4 years. So, it's better we just appreciate the little he is doing.

BTW, the problem of imo State has nothing to do with Owerri people; nobody can tell a governor where to site his projects. We just have the worst of us running the state. To be clear, it is even more worrisome that the most influential people in Imo politics are men of questionable characters and source of income; I believe you know this. Each time I think about this, I know that Imo State has a long way to go because men of goodwill have allowed evil politicians define the future of the state. However, there's something good about Hope Uzodinma - he uses Craneburg for his road projects.

the gap between enlightened Nigerians an unenlightened nigerians is unbelievably deep. I think it's one of the main issue we have socially. Uzodinma is not enlightened. He's primative. He probably doesn't know what is happening in Enugu etc and if he did he doesn't think it matters and doesn't think anyone else knows.

Which one is built new city in emene?
The way you people lie eeh, one would think nobody travels.
This same Enugu I transversed it's length and breadth last week?
The whole of Enugu gives me the vibe of some parts of Ehime mbano LGA , imo state, with dilapedating street roads, red sands and dirts.

The difference between Ehime mbano and most parts of Enugu is the dense residential structures.

Imo state has so many LGA'S with same ambience with Owerri city .... (Verifiable)

Stop defending Hope Uzodinma's foolishness.

There's no lie there. Next time you go to Enugu, visit the back of Proda (after Bethel Estate) to see the work going on there.

If you don't understand something, ask questions. https://newenugu.com/

Have you been to Avu/ohaji/mgbirichi sides ?
Have you been to ohii ?

My brother travel and you would realize Imo state is on another level, forget our corrupt governors and their short comings

Are you an IPOB member? I know only IPOB members are always incoherent, emotional, love deviating and lack comprehension skills. Someone is talking about how Hope Uzodinma has wasted 5 years in office with almost nothing to show for it and you are taking about private Estates in Imo. undecided Even the New Enugu project is not an Estate but a new district in Enugu so wetin carry all these private estates enter this discussion? angry

Lol. You're the one being too emotional because you ain't used to objectivity in discussions.

I showed you facts by mentioning names of areas in Imo state that feels like Owerri city, and had received massive attention through uzodinma's massive federal road projects, but you call it a waste by mentioning a district in Enugu that looks like Ehime mbano LGA, with red sand and absence of landscaping.

I expected you to counter my points proportionately.

I talk am. One day Owerri shall request for their ancestral matket to be restored as it was before the last two govs from Orlu zone came to Douglas House Owerri.

This market was demolished by Okorocha government, new one built at Egbeada Owerri, and a huge hospital was built in its place.

Uzodinma govt came and demolished the hospital and started to rebuild the market.

Billions of Naira have gone into demolishing and rebuilding and demolishing and rebuilding on the grounds of this Owerri market; money belonging to the 27 local councils of Imo state.
Meanwhile, infrastructures in the other govt established markets outside Owerri, including Imo International Market in Orlu, are rotting away.

Whoever says Orlu has monopolised government of Imo state is trying to deceive the public.

Uzodinma - he uses Craneburg for his road projects.

You're correct about the road projects... You won't believe I spent below 30-45 minutes from Owerri to Mbaise (Aforogbe), because of the ongoing road construction... And no be say the driver speed o

I saw a literal transformation in the road beside Okeyson motors park... That place was just bushes, no road AT ALL, just some footpaths... I used to lodge in a hotel in that area and would have to follow the bush path, except whe I'm carrying load and use uber... But was surprised how a SMOOTH, TARRED ROAD was carved out of that area

Although I noticed they're trying to reduce the width of the road in some areas ... I'll suggest that they shouldn't... Anybody that built along the road should have their property removed, no selective demolition

I just dey reason how them wan do am if they reach that Egbu area wey those people don build reach express road already, reducing the road to just one two lanes... That might even be the reason Rochas didn't extend the road beyond FRSC area

Hope might not have been the choice of the people, but in terms of road construction, let's give it to him... All the house of assembly members in Imo state are just statues, nothing to their name, no project, nothing nothing... They should come and take a three months course from their Lagos counterparts

Again, this is just a nonsense talking point. I don't know what you mean by "Owerri zone fought". Fought how? It's not that easy (and a waste of resources) to relocate an entire university. Nothing stopped all these Orlu zone governors from building universities in Orlu, since many Orlu village men with no imagination think that only universities bring urban development - even though Onitsha does not have one single university or tertiary institution of any kind (technical colleges, nursing colleges, teaching institutes etc) and is still by far the most populated and urbanized area of Anambra.

You people's Owerri envy no go kill you sha. I've said it many times in this thread that I have heard many groups of people crying marginalization in Nigeria (usually because they are forgotten, abandoned minorities in their state) but Orlu people are the first and only existing people in Nigeria that I've heard crying marginalization despite ruling the state for over 20 out of the last 25 years in Imo state (the Owerri zone ruling for less than ONE year), and having big majorities in the Imo House of Assembly. Una no get shame at all, sha and you don't know how silly you sound to the rest of us.

I've learnt to overlook the Orlu talks... How can a group of people that have been ruling for most of the state's existence still be complaining of marginalisation... It just doesn't make sense to a rational mind

Okay, let's give them this option... Since their Orlu men have refused to develop Orlu, can they help us vote an Owerri/Mbaise man in the next election, so that he can help them develop their local government?

Loooooooooooooooooooooooool

Like Ikwerre culture, six to ten families sharing one compound, each family with a hut they call house - same housing pattern for Owerri village people.

Once Imo state was created, Owerri village mentality made them start to force all government institutions to Imo state to Owerri. Because they cannot build any industry to develop Owerri.
No state in Nigeria is like Imo where state capital hosts all the 5 federal tertiary education institutions, hosts all federal housing estates to the state; Owerri even hosts Imo state university; wars against every gov who talked about IMSU for relocation to Orlu or Okigwe area. The monies from the about 300,000 students and staff in these institutions in Owerri, as well as all govt subventions to the institutions end up in Owerri.
Owerri city expands rapidly. Every governor has no choice but expand urban infrastructures to the rapidly expanding Owerri.

Pretend you don't know that it's the government institutions and parastatals littered all over Owerri that attract population and rapid urban expansion to Owerri. Why then do Owerri people fight against any gov who talked about IMSU relocation? Nigeria relocated its capital city. What is there in relocating a university like IMSU which has no modern university infrastructures in Owerri? Owerri struggle for Federal university teaching hospital which it wants to locate ontop of the roof of FMC Owerri. Why? Is Owerri the only place in Imo state?
You derive joy in calling Orlu a village, not withstanding the fact that when Imo state was created, there were little to no differences in the levels of urban deevelopment between Owerri and Orlu.

It's not Owerri people's fault that Imo governors are obsessed with Owerri and sitting all their projects in the city. Even before Ihedioha became governor, I read an article about him talking about how he would develop and expand Owerri.

You sound like a wife who is too weak to confront his husband for violating their marital vow and keeping a side chick. Instead of calling her husband to order, she's fighting his side chick. It's even shocking that most of you ranting here come from a zone that has produced governors the most. You are too ashamed to admit that you produced failures who refused to develop their zone. Instead, you are attacking the zone where their projects were sited, accusing them of influencing the governors' decisions.

Mind you, before 1999, all the
government institutions and parastatals for Imo state had literally been forced to be located in Owerri zone by Owerri people through the present Olu-Owerri association. FUTO, AICE, POLYNEKEDE, FEDERAL COLLEGE OF LANDS; all federal housing estates to Imo state, were already in Owerri before 1999. Even federal institutions located outside Owerri were uprooted and relocated to Owerri zone before 1999 - all in the name of Owerri is state capital. Olu-Owerri still forced then gov Evan Enwerem from Owerri zone to locate IMSU in Owerri.
Before this time, no governor had emerged from Orlu zone.

The recent efforts to locate a Federal University Teaching hospital ontop of FMC in Owerri, as if land or ready premises do not exist in any other part of Imo state outside Owerri, is most baffling.

I don't see your side chick example holding water here. Because if we don't use every means available to let Owerri people begin to accept that Orlu and Okigwe zones are parts of Imo state, we shall soon see a second layer of Owerri city start with the federal allocations of Imo state and its 27 LGAs, while Orlu and other urban centres in Imo state retrogress.
