Please I need investment advice. I'm kinda stuck investing my USD funds with my bank in like a fixed deposit at 6% with very heavy penalty (80%) if terminated prematurely. Please I need better alternative as I don't know any and how to go about it. This is my life saving so I'm kinda cautious so I don't lose it. The failure of Heritage bank and the abysmal NDIC coverage is making me have second thoughts about holding my investment in any Nigerian bank. Is the amount I have too small to invest directly in USD denominated bonds? If no, please how can I get started? Please help copy other knowledgeable people here to guide me. Joyful365: @joyful365. First you need to know your risk tolerance and be sure you can cope with the risk involve in any investment product you wish to invest in. Note that Eurobond is not a low risk investment there is some element of risk though it's moderate, even dollar fund has eurobonds as the underlying asset. However, having a long term in view, dollar fund will be a good alternative. You can go with Norrenberger Asset management for the dollar fund. Get in touch for details on Norrenberger dollar fund. |

Akerewe: Yes, it's deducted from the earnings. I don't think it is right though. Even if you leave it for 6 months and there's emergency need to terminate it the bank will deduct 80% of interest earned |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Akerewe(m): 5:51pm On Aug 14 |
Joyful365: 80% of the earnings is outrageous, I think it's around 20% deduction for premature liquidation. Check their terms 2 Likes |

Joyful365:There are a number of credible firms offering different investment packages & services - mutual funds, bond instruments, t-bills, equity, etc. And yes, the amount you have in savings is adequate to create a decent portfolio of diversified investments. From less to highly risky ones, depending on your risk appetite as an investor. Perhaps, if you can be more specific as to what your preferences are, then it would be easier to make more recommendations. |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Joyful365: 3:17pm On Aug 16 |
Akerewe: I checked their terms and it's been so for more than 3 years, that is why I'm worried and that is why I made the original post. I'm just tired of holding funds in a Nigerin bank that if it collapses tomorrow NDIC coverage is very small. If not for the uncertainty that has been created around crypto it seems it would have been better to get usdt and invest in any of the Savings products of centralised exchanges since the returns come in daily and you can terminate at anytime without harsh penalties. 2 Likes |

bfn1: I have very low risk appetite. My preference is very safe USD denominated bonds cos I assume only bonds are usd denominated and I assume they're the safest. I don't really know and I'm open to learning please |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by freeman67: 10:04pm On Aug 16 |
efismikoko: I did not ooo. Maybe they'l consider payment on Monday. That's the difference between government investment and private investments in Nigeria. These ones are doing anyhow now because na government work. If na private work they for don do as they suppose since. |
