chingle5: 7MB/s was more than enough for unlimited internet in 2022 and even now in 2024. Also that was my plan IIRC, ipnx offer up to 1gbps. I’ve even downgraded since then because of economy and as long as it’s unlimited the speed isn’t an issue asides streaming. |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by chingle5(m): 10:10am On Aug 12 |
tioluwalasee: Yeah 7MB/s is very okay for streaming but may not be okay for downloading which of course depends on what the person is downloading... I mostly download my pc games, game like GTA V which is around 50 - 60 gig will take time... Anyway the 1Gbps speed, i usually see that in foreign countries, i dont know if Nigerian Network provider really have it or it is just something they put on paper for advertisement it is not like we don't know the type of country we are |

Spectranet well done o, poor internet for over how many months now |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by BadMaster: 1:11pm On Aug 12 |
Deicide:Why don't you look into Airtel unlimited plans? Or are the Spectranet plans better? If you can afford it, Starlink makes more sense than any of the other. By the way, is anybody using MTN Fiber plans? How is the experience? Though coverage is very limited. 2 Likes

Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by Dam5reey1(m): 1:25pm On Aug 13 |
GreaterFuture: Well it's Unlimited Data usage, there is always a cap on Speed everywhere. Unless you have source where I can do infinite speed. 1 Like |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by BadMaster: 2:01pm On Aug 13 |
GreaterFuture:Unlimited means there's no data cap, although speed cap may vary. Mind you, all unlimited plans, even in the most advanced countries, have speed cap. However, their speed cap are usually higher. In most advanced countries, 1Gbps is now the standard and it's relatively cheap. In India you can get up to 3TB capped data for as low as $10. The problem we have in this country is that data is very expensive. Even Fiber plans that are supposed to be cheaper are very expensive and slow in speed. |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by moremuch1(m): 2:03pm On Aug 13 |
GreaterFuture: That's what I am currently using,I didn't recommend it based on hearsay, and it's truly unlimited but speed capped, tell me what other unlimited features it is lacking for you to say it's not truly unlimited |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by GreaterFuture(m): 3:51pm On Aug 13 |
moremuch1:No speed cap, incase of multiple users |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by cris83: 4:29pm On Aug 13 |
All these airtel and mtn plans have a fair usage policy that come into effect once a certain amount of data has been used. You'll think its unlimited but its not. Unlimited is when nothing and i mean nothing caps your speed or data usage is restricted. |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by Peterlove11: 8:04pm On Aug 13 |
cris83: No, this is unlimited data but speed capped. I have been using it(Airtel Unlimited) since December last year |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by OCTAVO: 12:53pm On Aug 14 |
Peterlove11:Airtel's 20mbps plan is unlimited, but once your download/upload hit a certain threshold, the 20mbps will be throttled down further (it will be extremely slow and useless). Someone I know experienced this after downloading about 28GB. The speed will reset itself to 20mbps the next day. |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by OCTAVO: 12:55pm On Aug 14 |
cris83:Yeah, fair usage still applies technically. |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by Dam5reey1(m): 10:44am On Aug 15 |
OCTAVO: It's network issue, there is no fair usage whatsoever on their speed based plans. I have done over 50GB in a day. 1 Like |

Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by georgee(m): 12:44pm On Aug 15 |
BadMaster:I don't need to. All of those MTN/Unlimited stuff have FUP. Once u reach, ur speed is massively throttled |
Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by BadMaster: 1:10pm On Aug 15 |
georgee:I know exactly how the MTN unlimited 4G/5G plans work and they are not the same with Airtel's speed capped unlimited plans, hence why they're speed capped. FYI, Airtel also has similar unlimited plans as MTN, which are not speed capped, wherein you're allocated a certain amount of data, and once you reach the capped data, your connection is throttled for the rest of the validity period of the plan. |

Re: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by EduTechTainMent: 10:47pm On Aug 15 |
OCTAVO: I don't experience this at all. I download way more than that on some days and the network doesn't get throttled. 28GB is too low. Perhaps there is an issue with his connection Below is my usage stats on just one of my pc. This doesn't include usage on the TVs and mobile streaming devices 1 Like

georgee: Keep quiet, you certified illiterate! A classic example of an average Nigerian. You claim to know it all but completely inept of realities beyond you. If we judge by exchange of texts, were you not the first to bring in "family"? Do you think everyone is a teenager like you? Terrible human being! Have you seen the country we call our own? It's in shambles because of people like you. Zero Research. Zero Investigation. Zero Facts. But very quick to insult your family because you have no value for them. Overexcited M0R0N. |

georgee: Your response gives credence to my earlier response. You are mentally unstable and a little child. Your arguement holds no water. For you to question a paid service in a bid to scale my value, shows how shameless you are. "Go and ask the creator of Nairaland", really? Your feeble mind processed those words? That was so low for an animal. I have nothing to prove to you. Your cerebral sclerosis is beyond redemption. I.m.b.e.c.i.l.e! |
