Is it humanly possible to use 800+ GB in a month? What are you streaming or downloading?

Anyway, to each their own. The lack of portability is a big no for me... If I want to run an internet/media/cafe company, that would be perfect for employees at location.

Gamers and people that make high end graphics use even more

You have to uninstall everything, It's like installing DSTV.
You can't use the decoder without the dish.

Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, I'm aware, but it's not very competitive. Their 60mbps plan comes at 50k monthly sub or so. If I had such amount to spend, I was better off getting a Starlink that costs 38k monthly with a much higher speed.
Yeah in the long run star link is great. But for now, the Airtel 20mbps serves me well.

Yea location affects but you can't experience a very good download and upload speed on Airtel or any other Nigerian network for that matter, except during midnight.

Most of them do not go beyond 10-20mbps at their fastest, which could be as low as 10kbps when the traffic is much. MTN, Airtel, Glo, they're all the same,
I do get close to 60 Mbps on Airtel and MTN but my Airtel speed is capped @20mbps.

All the 5g network in Nigeria na pure scam. How can you call a network 5g, and still be struggling at 60mbps?

A real 5g network should average 1gbps. Starlink dropping 400mbps dey try. But I still feel that when they create their base in Lagos, Ogun and PH, the speed will improve and also fix the location based issues.

Better 38k @ 400mbps than 50k @ 60mbps by Airtel.
It's the 440k that's one would have to cough out to purchase, that is the issue...

Very fast is subjective jor, has Airtel 5G ever clocked a download speed of 200 Mbps in your area before?
OP said that Starlink clocked an average speed ranging between 100-200 Mbps, you can't realistically get more than 20Mbps on all our Network service providers.
That's not true, there are areas you get close to 100mbps on Nigerian networks even 4g.

Make una pls share update, you can't possibly be playing game all day with 38k monthly sub ...

Understand that a 5g router doesn’t mean it will automatically function at 5g speed. It depends on your location and if the 5g network is active in your area . I have someone who has 5g on his iPhone and the speed is over 400mb/s, on a normal day. Even my mtn gives me more than 150mb/s .

5G everywhere is a scam. Even in America people rarely see the speeds they were promised. Just that it's still far better than here.

60mbps On what network 4G or 5G? So you're basically downloading a 200mb movie in less than 4 seconds? 😢

Divide 1TB by 12.

That's 83 gig per month. For a programmer or someone who works online and does data-intensive work, it may barely be enough.

That 20k stuff is unlimited...which is to say, even if capped sef (I don't know if it is) before throttled speed, you can use up to 300gig in a month without issues...compared to 83 gig...choose whichever you love or want.

Recently, I did 5.5k for 20gig on MTN or so to watch an institute/conference for 2 weeks on Zoom...for daily participation...my data did not last 5 days. Glo still helped me out a bit...how many times will 83gig evaporate like nothing in such circumstances?

That's why the unlimited router plan is not for everyone...

somethinggood:
Chief why not sub the 1tb at 100k instead? Than 20k monthly leading to 240k per year

I hate that even in CODM...always updates and updates like cursed fellows...those guys should improve. COD is too data hungry in updates, then space will enlarge.
Neoteny:

Highest i ever got was 265mbps. Mostly hovers around 150. Not too shabby,I watch everything in 4k and download PS5 games in a couple of hours, especially CoD with its endless updates.

MTN Fiber claims 1gbps, but MTN is generally dog shit these days. We'll see.
Re: My Starlink Review After Porting From Airtel Unlimited by twosquare(m): 11:57am On Aug 18
5g is not everywhere in Nigeria. If you want to know where 5g is, check the coverage map.

As for 4g and 4g+, it is your location...if the light is blue, it mid coverage, red: bad coverage; green: good coverage.

I bought the 5g Airtel router. I nor even see any 5g network since I bought it. Only 4g network. Even the 4g network most time it's not stable.

Simply put, Airtel has a Nigerian factor, while Starlink has none.

Here is my review of the Airtel 5g Smartbox router. It is good, and it depends on the area you are in, for network strength. In the compound where I live, maybe because of how the house was built, I have a sweet spot in the house where the network is fair, and most times, I get the blue light.

Despite this, I get like 10mbps or lower if it is peak hours (I think in the afternoon or so). Now, I got this by simply using the Wifi.

But one thing people write off is the yellow ethernet cable that came with it (for LAN). I used it on my laptop rather than connecting via wifi, and my speed jumped to 23mbps...it was really fast and all that, sometimes fluctuating between 15mbps -23mbps.

Airtel 5g smartbox router is good if that is what you want. You have to think of the cost. It is portable, unlike Starlink. I can't carry a dish about if I want to travel or subscribe to a roaming plan because I changed my address.

It is for big wigs...wanted to get Starlink before but then, thought of power consistency (electricity), and that Airtel router came with UPS (powerbank), AND IT IS just 50k...just went for it and I have not regretted it since then. Me that was still thinking of coughing out 440k, but now I get to keep my change, and use the remaining money for sub if I wish. If one thinks of the cost of fuel, or going for solar with batteries...it can be a pain in the ass with the type of country we are in.

I work online, run my business, watch videos (no buffering), play Call of Duty Mobile, and my spouse also uses it on her phone...

Conclusion: If you work from home (remotely) and the company requires a certain amount of speed (like 100mbps), you can go for Starlink so you can retain your job and keep earning. If you want something moderate, cost-effective, go for Airtel.

Pic 1 is using the router with the UPS (powerbank) (some says it last up to 8 hours) that came with it. Purely Wifi

Pic 2 is using the ethernet cable with my laptop (I have grown to love this).
