This is easy for salary person. It is difficult to really say the annual profit for sole proprietorship kind of business in a year.I get business way I wan do for China by October. If it works out well. You fit surprise within a yr or two my fellow igbo guys with cash go cast the thing after you hammerfor 1/2 yrs,lol
So you can't really predict your profit for a Yr oh

You look at a 5 year average profit

This reminds me the wahala I been dey get in those yrs I was paying tithe. It was difficult to really calculate the 10% thing on my business profit

If you made a gain of 100% in year one and made a loss of 50% in year two, do you know that you compounded annualized return in 2 years is 0%

Not if you booked the profit or took the profit off the table to buy back when the market dropped by 50%.

Let’s consider two market scenarios, M1 and M2

Start @ Market M1 investment = x

Market M1 appreciation by 100% = X * 2.0 = 2x

Assuming booked profit

Booked profit = x ( taking profit/ booking profit of x off the table)

Balance still invested @ M1 = 2x -x = x

And then,

Market slumped @ M2 = 50% of x that’s still invested = 0.5x

If the investor decides not to buy back, he /she ends up with x + 1/2 x = 1.5x from the initial of x

However, if he/she buys back at 0.5x with the x profit initially taken off the table, =

Previously Booked profit = x, now channeled to buy back at @ M2 but at a price 0.5x

holding units = 0.5x + 1/0.5x
= 3 times initial holding

Always sensible to take profits.

Someone should advise me what to do with Eterna. I bought at #28.
Keep hope alive or sell and cut my losses?

Based on two recent insider trades, I suggest you keep hope alive. Eterna is turning positive should the current trajectory continue. I bought some at 15.50, and took some profit at 21.75 but will continue to hold. My target is 30.

Use the regular coupon to buy stock, real estate, euro bond etc.

At N10 million invested you are sure of N2.2 nillion for the next 10 years

During the 10 years there will be bear markets in the stock market and you can use to coupons to buy shares at cheap prices.

You can use your bond of N10 million as collateral for a loan of about N7 million and also use your coupon to service the loan

I understand you very well but about using the bond as collateral for loan, I don't know how easy that will be because the banks I use don't recognize it as collateral and if you are to use investment and asset management like ucap, they prefer using your invested mutual funds with them rather than govt bond that doesn't benefit them nor the banks

Banks will only accept bonds bought through them and domiciled with them as collateral

Only possible if you know you are gambling. But most people are gambling but think they are investing.

When your N1 million turn to N2 million in 6 months, the next target is how to turn the N2 million to N4 million in another 6 months.

What you make does not matter, what matters is the consistency of what you make and what you keep

FOR THE NASCON FAITHFULS
The first task for the stock to accomplish before a reliable rise in price to occur is for price to close above 35.75. A close above this level on high volume will drag price towards the resistance level (red highlight). From here, it is expected that price to re-test previous support (optional). A rejection at the support level, again, on high volume is the catalyst the stock needs to start a rally to the upside...

Someone on this thread got in touch with me early this year, he claimed he started invested in the stock market 22 years ago and has about 6 years before he would be due for retirement.

He claimed his portfolio was less than N10 million even after trading for over 20 years. He made money from the market, but also lost most from the market.

He got in touch with me for assistance on books that could improve his knowledge about the market.

He claimed he introduced the wife to NGX 18 years ago, but the wife got a dividend of over N3 million in 2023 and a portfolio size of almost N40 million

The bolded is the problem plus how much was he trading with?
As for tortoise investors diversification is always key, doing this brings peace of mind!
Once you have excess cash, great stocks will come begging for you at opportune times for buy one and get one free. cool

Someone who has been investing for the past 20 years must be adding money to his portfolio every year.

By the way he earned more than the wife

That's why it is advised to take some windfall profits off the table. Learn from Tinubu.

I use Stanbic IBTC bank and First Bank.

You can also try the following finance houses provided your financial asset is domiciled with their sister organization

Orange One Finance a sister company of Investment One

Meristem Finance a sister company of Meristem Securities.

For the finance houses the loan can be used as you please eg renovate your house, buy a property, expand your business or even buy stocks.

But it you got the loan from stockbroking houses like United Capital, Cardinal Stone, FSDH Capital, you can only use the loans to buy shares, bonds and other financial assets

That can only happen if you know you are gambling and their is no fundamental basis for the gain.

But might not be necessary if you are investing. Those who booked profit on United Capital at N4 when it returned over 100% are regretting their actions

This constant shifting of dangote refinery PMS sales nawoo.

I think they are still trying to marry the inevitable existence of the refinery with the various oil sector cabals and the government's oil revenue in flow and fuel subsidy system. This is what you get in a country that doesn't plan. Ideally we should have started adjusting for the coming on stream of the refinery at least two years ago.

what happened to the guy. I didn't see any of his post today. I can't even believe that someone could consider me to be that clown.

Without fear or favour i am 1000% percent obedient though obi is too gentle to a fault. I will have never wished Tinubu to nigeria for 4 yrs talkless of considering 8yr when I am not cursed .I only supported 2 of his policy which I have always said.Pls this is not a political post so don't view it in that regard or respond equally in that regard

I think he said as much that he's here because of the Oando talk. So, no oando, no worries.

It's better to leave the politics out of the thread.

I use Renko charts these days and eh dey sweet my belle. Since January 20-something, all the swing highs have never been able to break past previous swing highs, so I feel that breaking the last swing high at around 41 may indicate a reversal in Nascon.

Na that 41 i go dey watch.

I understand but also know that a journey of thousand miles begins with one step as they say. NAHCO started from somewhere and current price sounded the alarm as records show here. I have read all the pages here from page one to present and it took me two months. I saw a lot of transitions, agreements and disagreements. Even when Pa Emma spoke strongly against bua cement in favors of wapco many months ago but today Bua is still ahead of Wapco even after many years. So I understand. Unity Bank is negative but just wait for the suspension to be lifted and you will see plenty full bids

That might present an opportunity to sell at a profit... wink

My brother! Why are you trying to wake some1 buried befittingly back to life? If such magic cum miracle is your specialty, why not visit the morgues and you will have plenty cadavers for your experiment? Or are you looking forward to curling a favor from him in the immediate or remote future? That matter has been laid to rest albeit your understanding of that clause is misplaced.
