LASUCOM is the college of medicine under LASU, LASUTH is the teaching hospital use by LASUCOM to teach medical students
So LASUCOM together with LASUTH will become university of medicine independent from LASU.

Thank you bro,for your correction!
What the State Government is trying to do is to insulate this New Project from the LASU Management,in case of Politics, which is a good development.
This is how to measure real Educational Institutions Development.
Kudos to the Governor and his Team on this well thought out ideas.đź‘Ťđź‘Ź.
More Progress to the Lagosians.

What if Lagos is our catchment area and we see how much of a useless rogue Tinubu is compared to Jakande of just four years without choking us with IGR

Do you not scold your child for misbehaving?

Your wailing and gnashing of teeth just started. Hope you stayed at home yesterday.

Hmmmm, it is not bad if Lagos state government has what it takes for LASUCOM to become a stand -alone medical university.

But LASU now won't have school/college and faculty of Basic medical sciences, faculty of Basic clinical sciences and faculty of clinical sciences which is the pride of Nigeria universities.

Lagos state already has LASUED for education courses, LASUTECH for technical courses and LASU.

If the state now carved out university of medicine from LASU, which courses will LASU now be admitting? Probably tomorrow now university of LAW and ENGINEERING will be carved out from LASU and leave thier main university which is the BEST STATE UNIVERSITY IN NIGERIA to be admitting just business administration, banking and finance, accounting, agriculture and art courses which is very bad. Then LASU may go into extinction with time.

As for me I think there is no need for this. There is already EKO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH SCIENCES. WHY THIS AGAIN. THEY SHOULD HAVE A RETHINK

Stayed at home in Lagos?
Or stayed at home in Iragbiji, Osun state

Your bamubamu layo selfishness from Tinubu's crumbs is why you are not wailing and gnashing your teeth yet for the hunger and starvation ravaging the country since clueless Akanbi used Yorubalokan to get his ebilokan turn to continue Buhari's APC shege that was fraudulently sold as change in 2015.

FuglyGurl:
Yoruba market women in Ogun State have lambasted President Bola Tinubu’s administration for promulgating economic policies that negatively affect the prices of goods and cause untold hardship for Nigerians.

A viral video shared by an X user, Somto Okonkwo, on Monday and seen by Peoples Gazette saw the market women speaking to a Sugarlink Concepts reporter in their local dialect, expressing their disgust as they lamented the soaring prices of goods in the country.

The traders who said Mr Tinubu disappointed Nigerians, particularly the Yorubas, threatened to beat the president.

“He’s not behaving like a Yoruba man; he has disappointed us in Yoruba land,” another elderly woman stated.

A fish seller said, “As things are now, we’re tired. A carton of sardine is N100,000.”

Another trader appealed to the president to have mercy on Nigerians, saying, “We’re tired of Nigeria; everything is costly, everything is getting costly every day.”

An elderly woman who also registered her displeasure with the current administration lamented that several Nigerians starved to death over Mr Tinubu’s economic policies.

“Countless people are being killed because of food, we don’t see food to eat, the elderly that are dying are too much,” she lamented.

Asked what they would tell the president if they had the opportunity to see him, one of the traders threatened, “We will beat him up, the president.”

The trader added, “What he promised us is not what’s happening now. This is too much.”

A plantain seller, who also urged Mr Tinubu to find a solution to the hardship, lamented that traders made losses due to the high cost of petrol.

“Things are too costly; we’re tired,” another fish seller grumbled. “A carton of Titus is N100,000; it used to cost N17,000. Kote is going to N60,000. Shawa, which we used to sell for N70, now goes for N700. Garri, that used to be N50, is now N700.”

This is commendable. Lagos seems to be the only state with future plans. Most states are still grappling to catch up with current realities, meanwhile Lagos state is already into the future.

Someone asked what he’s not getting correct. Well, the answer is in the post.

All you have to do is remove the hatred, tribalism, any bigotry from your heart, and then maybe, just maybe, you might be able to understand the post better.

Yes, there is LASUTH. But according to the post, the LASG want this to be a stand-alone medical university, not one under the supervision or control of the universities.

Objective:

To bridge the existing gap in the training of medical personnel and improve healthcare delivery system in the state.

The new stand-alone medical university would take care of the challenges the current LASUCOM is still beset with. The challenges includes increase in population, student’s admission, healthcare demand, infrastructure expansion, etc.

This has no tribalism or bigotry in it. There is no sense in making the college of medicine a stand alone university. The objectives you mentioned can be achieved also within the normal university system. All that is needed is to upgrade the existing facilities and introduce other health care areas not considered in the previous or existing arrangement.

We just love doing things for name and not really making the needed impact. Some states have it, why can't Lagos have it?

Before you come for me, I am a Yoruba and a proper one (if you know what I mean). We just need to be objective on this.

So, in your little mind, all the other people the medical colleges are serving are not human being.

Tinubu is just one out of the over 200 million Nigerians.
don’t mind those brainless ipob minions, their entire existence evolve around Tinubu, it’s like taking away oxygen from them grin

Good step in right direction. Lagos is working.
But is there still space to build structure in that LASUTH, the place looks "all occupied " cool

That is why it is going to be multi campus. They will build in the outskirt of Lagos - Ikorodu, Epe, Badagry etc

I disagree with you. I am of the perspective that Lagos state should have a medical university to train more students that they are currently doing at the moment. Given the demand for Nigeria medical personnel overseas the state should put resources into graduating upward of 5000 medical personnel per year. Many will Japa but a lot will still be in Nigeria to care of Lagosians.

You have still not explained anything. Why can't all these be done in the existing system. Having a University does not make any changes instead it is just a good way of siphoning funds too.

If the existing system is expanded, upgraded and operated under the college of medicine, all what you mentioned can be achieved. Having a University status does not necessarily mean a larger number. Instead, having the right facilities address the number issue.

Why do you think NUC gives a cap on admission. It is simply because of the available facilities and not having University Status.
