Sir, Maresca plays with two 8s. Tactically speaking, it means Enzo never plays a CDM in Maresca's system.

The problem is Enzo is not a good tactical no 8 at the same time, so Maresca finds a tweak to the system to make Enzo play as a less advanced 8, which makes him look like he's CDM. He's not.

If you remove Enzo for a CDM, then you are now playing with a double pivot, which is a completely different set up. So again, practically, who do you need your new CDM to replace?

TBH, I don't really care for the defense vs attack discuss, I just want to see 3 points from every game we play but if anyone says our attack needs no fixing, the person is not being truthful because there is no world where a striker who is not in Senegal's 1st eleven should be Chelsea's leading striker.

If we had converted some of the chances we had in the first half, CP would have been down and out but what do I know. Although the defense is not world class but cut out those school boy errors and the express way in the middle of the park and the defense has less to worry.

I think this season is going to be better than the last based on the way Maresca is playing and how we are set up. We would have lost this game if it were last season. Our biggest problem is Enzo, closely followed by Gusto. I think Cucurella is better as a fake midfielder than Gusto. He was in the defensive midfield/central midfield role under Poch towards the end of last season, and he played the position much better than what I’m seeing with Gusto. Cucurella’s forward passing is good, and he is more agile ( than Gusto).

We just need to solve the Enzo and Gusto problems, and we will be okay.
