On the bolded, Okpai 1 was connected to the grid. Okpai 2 is not (at least till 2023).

ositadima1:

This is a very interesting point. It does not seem like their power plants are linked to the national grid, based on my experience while I was at Ebocha.

The surrounding community was using free electricity; nobody paid a dime. The power supply was steady. Also, the gas plant in Omoku was used to power the Ebocha Oil Center operations. As far as I know, these power generating plants are not commercial but used to run the in-house operations and neighboring communities.

If Oando decides to commercialize this power, then it will be a big issue between them and the surrounding communities.

Can DEAPCAP Leverage On Its Gains to Stabilise Operations and Emulate UCAP's Success?
On 22/08, I recommended DEAPCAP as a BUY, and since then, it has already achieved a 100% profit. The company's activities are similar to UCAP, a more established entity, but on a smaller scale—focusing on asset management, particularly for individual and corporate clients. DEAPCAP is currently facing significant management challenges that have impacted its overall performance. Will the company use the current surge in its stock price to regularise its operations and management? If it can, there is potential ahead for this small entity!

NOTE: Not a BUY recommendation at current price. There may be pullback anytime!

Let me she'd some light on POWER PLANT CAPACITY and REVENUE.

Installed capacity: is the maximum electrical power that can come out of that plant in Megawatts or Gigawatts.
In the OandO-NAOC deal, it's written as total nameplate capacity is 960MW.
This is the information that js sold to the public.

What this means (in layman's terms) is that at 100% efficiency, you'll get 960MW.
Sadly, in Nigeria, we get as low as 8% from some plants. shocked

The 27 Gas Power Plants in Nigeria have a installed capacity of 12,643MW but the average available capacity is a paltry 4211MW (~33.3%) angry

The more energy generated, the more money available to 'share'...

Okpai 1 (480MW) is commercially active.
However, the OandO-NAOC deal stated the capacity of both plants (960MW) which is kinda misleading... smiley

ositadima1:
My conclusion is to take the power generating plants out of the equation, as they are not for commercial purposes like those of Geregu and Transcorp.

Don't take my word for it; verify and verify again.

Please provide reference showing Agip controlled 40% of the kwale-okpai power plant.

I don't assist my opposition, but on a serious note, the ownership ratio of the Kwale-Okpai power plant under the NNPC/NAOC/ConocoPhillips (acquired by Oando) stands at 60/20/20. It’s up to you to conduct your research. grin grin tongue

The image confirms that phase 1 is connected..

I have read somewhere that its usually the DisCos that reject power as well as poor TCN transmission lines with low carrying capacity, despite the GenCos generating and ready to transmit at almost full capacity..

This statistics is poor..
Means we invariably have just 3power plant delivering above 80% to consumers in Nigeria!!
Okpai-phase 1 even try, ee cross 50%. grin

That's a point.
No they don't.
Roughly 5x less for Geregu.

Assuming all the shares of the company was for Okpai and it's Okpai Only being listed on NGX, then it may be circa #200..(1000/5) grin

But all things are not equal and it's not Okpai that's the listed company.
Market shall decide.

You are referring to the JV in the oil well OML 60-63. That is distint and different from the power plant.

There is the Phase 2 which is also 480MW. Hence the combined is 960MW

The Okpai Power Plant, officially known as the Okpai Independent Power Plant (IPP), is one of Nigeria's key power generation facilities. It is located in Okpai, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.

Here’s a detailed overview of the plant:

Background and Ownership: The Okpai Power Plant was a joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC), which is a subsidiary of the Italian energy giant Eni.

Commissioning: The plant was initially commissioned in 2005 and marked as one of the significant milestones in Nigeria's efforts to boost electricity generation.

Technical SpecificationsType: Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant.
Capacity: The plant has a generating capacity of approximately 480 megawatts (MW) from its original setup. There was an expansion (Okpai Phase 2) that added an additional 500 MW capacity, bringing the total capacity to nearly 1000 MW.

Fuel Source: The plant is gas-fired, utilizing natural gas extracted from the Okpai field and other nearby gas fields.
Copied.

Are you now convinced that the power plant is different from the power plant in OBOB gas plant used for the plant and supply electricity to the community

Not misleading, installed capacity is 960MW what is gives to the national grid might not be up to that. Nigeria installed capacity is about 12,000 MW but we can only utilise about 5,000MW due to transmission grid constraints

I'm not sure what you mean here. I wasn't aware that Oando had a 20% stake in a power plant (which didn’t significantly impact their revenue). Now, with their stake increased to 40%, let’s hope it makes a difference. As for other facilities like the OBOB gas plant, they're not commercial for obvious reasons.

Hope Oando faithfuls are taking careful note of this honest submission?

Everything about Oando at the moment is just guesswork and investment isn't guesswork...

But we the Oando faithfuls no go gree for anybody sha grin
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by tijany130: 10:19pm On Sep 01
I had thought Oando acquisition of Agip asset was 100% & if so, Oando wholly owns Okpai power plant and not 40% which has 980MW installed capacity although 480MW is presently operational & connected to the national grid while its phase II with 480MW capacity is yet to be completed.
ositadima1:

With this acquisition, Oando's interest in the Kwale-Okpai power plants (Phases 1 & 2) has increased to 40%. These plants have a combined nameplate capacity of 960 MW, but only 384 MW of this capacity is attributable to Oando based on their 40% stake. grin grin shocked
