Emetex22: There you go : painting rosy pictures to entice fools to their doom. And what makes you think I live in Nigeria? A cleaner buying a house could have been possible 20 years ago in US but certainly not today. He or she is more likely to be homeless these days or sharing an apartment or even a room…especially in places like Los Angeles or wherever you live in California. And if you are lucky to get one, you will need to work 2 or 3 jobs, temping and Upshifting and doordashing, to be able to keep it . Anyway let those that are willing to be misled get their wish. I have more than once seen an obvious Nigerian on Skid Row and seen a blind and homeless Nigerian on the train in Atlanta . They all started off believing people like you…not knowing that what works for one person may not work for another. Anyway nobody is ever going to get a work visa to work in US as a toilet cleaner so the ongoing discussion is only theoretical or can only work in places like California full of Nigerian living illegally in US. |

steeltrust: You left a fictitious fintech app company in Nigeria to become a toilet cleaner in the US. Yoruba will say - " aye e ti baje", meaning your own has spoilt. You even typed in one of your responses that you are almost achieving all you set out to do in the US yet according to you, you came to the US in 2023. These are all the hallmarks of a pathological liar. I guess you are even in one cave, stealing someone Wifi to access nairaland. 3 Likes |

Adakintroy: In other countries, their leaders ensure their citizens have everything to prosper. Over here, every institution is filled with corruption. Money meant for development is embezzled. How do you expect such society to be comfortable and progressive? Untill we start telling ourselves the truth, nothing will change. Instead of those in power to buy cheaper vehicles for example, they go for the most expensive ones. Such waste of resources can be channelled into other areas of development. |

I do not agree with you 100 % I know a plumber in canada who earns more than the prime minister. So dont underestimate these so called menial jobs. This same plumber will drive a decent car to the place he cleans the toilet and will eat good enough food. Can you say that about low income earners in Nigeria? Life is not all about buying houses and expensive stuff. Ask a bank manager in Nigeria what time he leaves home and when he returns ? My friends daughter started working minimum wage job at the age of 15 - and as a result allowed her parents to have more money in their pocket - can you say that about a nigeria home ?? googi: |

Myrrhis: This (myopic) view of debt is what makes naija a sheethole Debt is the no 1 wealth building tool and because MOST Nigerians are locked out of it, poverty will continue to ravage that country. You took a mortgage for 35 years? now your kids have equity that they can lend against to build further wealth Or sell the home and fund a start up taking life insurance policies for yourself and your spouse in addition to your spouse means that your adult kids have a payout waiting for them when you depart this world PLUS a paid up house and a 401k? Poor education is the albatross of that country mehn 1 Like |

ThierryJay:cc: steeltrust That's what I meant when I say the comparison is out of place. A bank manager in Nigeria is living fine and has a thriving career. It's an unbeatable experience which shouldn't be compared to a toilet cleaner in the abroad. Yes, Nigeria has serious issues, but never should anyone say a toilet cleaner in the abroad lives a better life than a bank manager in Nigeria. Ah! Let's fear God, please. 3 Likes |

He is not talking about the cost. He is talking about the availability of these things he listed there. If you work hard abroad as a cleaner, waiter, hotel staff, trader, nurse, banker, engineer, you will get all those things. But in Nigeria, those things he listed, are for the super rich. Middle classs will not even experience those stuffs. JoshTim: 1 Like |
