Have mercy on Nigerians, the suffering is too much. The shege is enough, no need for Banza!

A friend in the UK chatted me with a ++44 number on WhatsApp and asked if I was available to talk. When he called, I asked what happened to his Nigeria number which he had been using on WhatsApp.

He said he had to shut it down because the requests for money were becoming too much. Someone needs money for hospital bills, another for school fees, another house rent and for some, kids have not eaten.

He was overwhelmed and just gave up the account. I told him the truth is, most people don't like to beg for money but what do they do when they are completely stranded. Even for us in the country, there's always one financial request or the other. That's In the midst of your own personal financial struggles.

Guys who are not married tell me ladies are begging to stay with them just so they have a roof over their head and don't have to bother about food. They are no longer asking for money for hair, phone or shoes.

I saw an old woman walking along the road one morning on my way to work so I stopped to pick her. Asked where she was going and if there was no one to send. She was walking down to the bakery to buy bread because they sell N80 naira and the people in her street sell for N120. I asked of her age and she said 76. I was broken. Gave her the little I had with me as I dropped her at the bakery.

I have never in my adult life seen things this bad.

Part of this is Naira effect. They sell goods in dollars so their Naira earnings would have tripled naturally and the market will reflect that

Anybody wey no carry enough money commot house today will definitely get stranded with this fuel price increment. Motorists will carry blood in their eyes to increase fare ASAP, just the same way filling stations adjusted pump price

Tinubu himself marched against one of these policies in 2012.
Most politicians in Nigeria will damn the economic consequences and reverse fiscally responsible policies if it would guarantee 4 more years of access to the Treasury.

-Lord

Do you still think there is still enough wiggle room for any politician to manoever. Cos at the tail end of Buhari admin, we were hearing that 97% of income was spent on debt servicing. At some point you borrow, patch until its no longer possible and have to face the music

Have we reached that point in Nigeria or you think theres some more room for patch patch?

Speaking on the impact of forex demand, Dangote said: โ€œI will like to salute the people of Nigeria and the government of President Bola Tinubu for creating the environment for us to thrive and also achieve this.

โ€œI want to thank President Bola Tinubu for creating this idea of Naira-for-crude and Naira for the product.

It's both.
Smuggling is a scourge. And the bean counters at NNPC also pad the numbers.

-Lord
Chief how can you say it is both? Based on your own analysis if 35m is being lost and the total consumption of our immediate neighbouring countries is about 6.6m which no country would rely on smuggled fuel for tgeir energy security, so we can extrapolate that half of the 6.6m is smuggled from Nigeria, so atleast 30m litres is falsely reported by a government agency.

I am not including the extended 2 Tier neighbouring countries cos as you stated cost of transportation eats into profitability of smuggling, moreover Ghana has crude oil.

The crux of the matter is Tinubu has so far failed as both Minister of Petroleum and President, if him and his cronies are not complicit, there is no way it should still be possible that we as a nation are subsidising 35m litres of smuggled Fuel.

The whole ban on kegs is nonsense, as if the numbers we are talking here would be smuggled via kegs.

Thank you.

That's why i rested my case.

From Lord's analysis, smuggling is almost insignificant in what they are trying to paint.

The neighbouring countries uses 6.6m, but Nigeria is losing 25m to smuggling.

A joke of a country

Honestly things are really bad.

I try as much as possible to dodge as much people as I can nowadays. I deliberately don't ask after some people's well being because I know what will follow is; they will download their problems and something must drop.

Sometimes I just wonder how people who do low paying jobs like cleaner, driver, etc manage to feed and take care of their responsibilities in this period.

Seriously, any church, mosque or religious organizations not giving back to their vulnerable amongst their members in this period is just a wicked organization that should be deserted by members.

Baba, your friend just described my life right now. I am not on SM or WhatsApp, so access to me is very much controlled but even at that, make I no even go there.....

My brother, the kain call wen I receive on Sunday from a known friend in Nigeria nearly brought me to tears. I sabi this guy wella, the guy no lazy, guy na real hustler, baba dey chook head into everything legit, works in the formal sector but according to him, the last year is driving my guy to the edges of life or death. He wasn't asking for money, he was just venting his reality, baba, I just weak!

I am always careful with my utterances when it comes to the reality of others, especially people who are not around my surrounding because most men I know in Nigeria are not lazy. Infact, close associates will tell you, I don't tolerate laziness in men. I can tolerate laziness in women but you see grown man? If I sense laziness in a man, I dey block, delete and cutout. However, things are set up against them and changes to economic factors that determine income change every day with little time to adjust/ adapt.
