UK denied me
Ọmọ don't even know where to go or start from again.
Seems like I wasn't good enough 😕 😔

@Ashirioluwa@Cornoak@Cashmadam where did I got it wrong or any suggestion on what can I do differently when submitting another application?

Sorry about the refusal.

My thoughts:

1. Low income
2. No savings declared (big mistake)
3. Insufficient ties to Nigeria
4. Huge expense on 5 days trip not justified

Leave UK for now. Try other Countries that don't have stringent visa rules. Come back to UK later...

Good luck!

The letter clearly stated the reason why your visa was refused.

The main issue was your income. You planned to use almost half of your yearly income for a 5-day trip. I don't think any rational person will believe that your story.

It's not a rule, but the advice here on nairaland is that visa applicants should make sure that their trip expenses are not more than their 2 to 3 monthly salary.

Another factor is your home ties.

Good morning everyone. I have been following this thread for a while. Thank you to all the contributors.

I want to apply for my 6 month UK visa this month and would like some clarity, please. I want to travel with my baby to visit my sister and her family who are british citizens, my husband is sponsoring the trip but I work and earn in dollars. I have my husband's company docs, bank statements (in ngn and usd) and my employment letter, payslip and recommendation letter from my boss.

I don't intend to use my savings account as it is a mess so only want to use my usd account as this is where I receive my salary. We plan to state that I intend to spend 2,500 GBP and I would be contributing 500 GBP for the trip as this should cover the flight and shopping because I'll be staying with my sister and her family. We plan to spend 3 weeks. Is there any other info I can add to boost my application, please?

I was denied twice 9 years ago, when I was still in the university, although I travelled with my family a lot when I was much younger. Now my circumstances have changed but I just want to be very cautious. My husband isn't going with us, just me and my 6 month old.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. @cashmadam @giselle @ashirioluwa

I also wanted to ask if the TLS fee is for only 1 person. Meaning that if I'm applying with my child and want to submit in PH, will I pay 900k instead of 450k?
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Richdiamond000(m): 11:19am On Sep 06
Hey guys, I have a valid UK tourist visa obtained in 2021

Now I wanna go for my masters in the UK and I’m applying for a student visa

I hope the issuance of a student visa to me will not cancel and invalidate my existing tourist visa

I hope both visas can exist on my passport simultaneously

It would have been nice if you can use your saving account in addition to the other documents you have.

Your husband will be your ties to Nigeria. Please ensure you fill the visa form carefully and include your marriage certificate, your husband's passport data page and all relevant documents of your employment.

Good luck!

It is not an issue to apply for the student visa. However, your visit visa would be cancelled on the home office’s end as you can not have a student and a visitor visa at the same time. That is you can not be simultaneously a student and a tourist.

Thank you so much for your response. I did not add that I am attaching my savings statement and my husband's passport data page in my application but I'll attach it anyway.

@kayla0 or @kaylaO are you actively working? Give a range of what your salary is in usd and a range of how long you have been with your current employer
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 11:56am On Sep 06
Yes, I am actively working and I will be attaching my employment letter as well as payslips to confirm this, I will also add my bank statement which also shows my last salary received (on the 30th of August) to back it all up. I also have a letter from my boss stating when I started working with the company but was adviced not to bother adding it by my brother-in-law. My salary is a month and I've been working with them since August last year.

klexycole:
A fam member's mom just got refused. He's sponsoring the mother with £2,500. He also attached his payslip, bank statements, BRP, and lease documents.

For the mom, they included pictures with son, her passport, husband's consent letter, and a valid 5-year Canada Visit Visa. Her bank statement wasn't submitted.

Under her employment section, they picked RETIRED since she's currently not working, although running a small shop in their home with no business account. She has never worked in a corporate organization and currently being supported by the children.

Note: The visit duration stated is 1 month but the ECO mistakenly wrote 1 month 29 days.

Please what's the best way to tackle this? She's a first time applicant. Thank you!

An Update on This

So the reapplication for a 6-month Visit Visa was granted in 3 working days (Priority Service).

The Difference

The initial documents and details were retained, but added the following to the new application:

1. The applicant's (mother) bank statement
2. House co-ownership docs with spouse (economic tie)
3. Religious certificate and pictures (social tie)
4. Family pictures with spouse and the remaining children in Nigeria (family tie)
5. Canada Flight Itinerary (evidence of return for later travel)
6. Changed the employment status from RETIRED to SELF-EMPLOYED with explanation
7. Sponsor's (son) birth certificate (proof of relationship)
8. Sponsor's work pictures
9. Applicant's spouse data page, 5 years valid Canada visa and flight itinerary

Biometrics – 27 August
Approved – 30 August
Passport Delivered – 03 September

Special thanks to Cashmadam and Giselle237 for the responses. Good luck to everyone.

Add a no objection letter from ur employer if you will not be adding the employment letter.
Let it say that you have been granted leave to travel to the UK without any reservations.
That you are expected back on Sept say 30th to resume duties.
Add ur husband’s data page and employment id or employment letter or anything to prove he will be in Nigeria during the time of your visit to the UK.
Your husband can also write a letter attesting to the above+ his joy with sponsoring this trip + how he is so happy that you are reuniting for a short holiday with ur sister and that she will be housing you. Also mention that he will be in Nigeria throughout the duration of your trip
Add any promotion letters on your sidd
Add every evidence of ur work u can gather to show how important this job is to you and why you will be returning to resume and to be back to your wonderful husband etc
Your sister needs to write a letter of invitation to you and also a notification letter to the UKVI of her intentions. Both letters must expressly state dates you will be in the UK as well as what kind of support she is offering and also saying how she cnt wait to show you various aspects of the British culture
In your visa form, do not forget to write a daily itinerary of what you would be doing
Eg
Day 1— arrival and head to sister’s address
Day 2- rest etc
Like that

Add any additional documentation if you have assets, property or investments in your name and/or your husband’s name etc
You must both add your birth certificates to show proof of relationship +/- accompanying pictures, chats etc anything to help your case
Write a cover letter to explain your circumstances if you feel there is anything that needs addressing
This list is not exhaustive
