Sleekfingers: That's why I laugh at all this people always criticising tinubu for Nigeria's problems.....it's obvious they don't deep understanding understand of what our problems really are as a country and the sad thing is that they are in the majority and don't know anything about how development comes about. 1 Like |

SocialJustice: It won’t be a disaster. It’s long overdue. Some states will manage it better than other states but at least, your security is in your hands. Only things to guard against are 1) unauthorised used by govs against enemies and opposition 2) Minorities of each states should be protected and should enjoy all constitutional benefits just like majorities. 3) issue of funding. |

RhinoChest:State governors are incompetent with power and resource management. Watch as the number 1 issue you listed destroys it. They haven't even been made police and the vigilantes in my state are already killing innocent citizens indiscriminately and doing absurd things like blocking the lanes on a major road to salute each other. By the time they get full government backing, you can imagine what will happen. |

It seems like the disadvantages of state police outweighs its advantages. |

Lithiumite: Leave all this story, state police will not work in a country like Nigeria where an average citizen is very tribalistic. If you are a Yoruba person living in a state in the south east and you have a dispute with an Igbo person who is an indigene and the case is taken to the state police they will automatically support their brother; the same thing would happen if an Igbo or Hausa person living in Yorubaland or another region has a case with a native of that area. Then when it's time for election the incumbent governor will use the apparatus of state police to hound his political opponent. Some of the state in Nigeria are not even economically viable and are having difficulty paying their civil servants and now you people want to add the salaries of state policemen to it. Most of you people supporting creation of state police do not even fully understand the implications of what you are supporting! |

State Police? Too late now that Islamic terrorists have enveloped Nigeria as they aim for Islamic Republic of Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system. Division of Nigeria into more manageable countries is the last and only option left. |

Kobicove: Stop procrastinating......if you don't want it in Ur state I want it in mine.....we are no more ethno religiously bias than an average American.....there are class struggles still going on the developed world till today and there is also deep seated animosity and divide among races and ethnicities in america just as we have here but what keeps them in check are the strong institutions they have and that has evolved over centuries.....that also started from somewhere and didn't become perfect overnight.....we shouldn't be afraid to start too. 1 Like |

State police cannot really solve insecurity...the solution is for the government and Tinubu to address and tackle poverty, hunger, hardship, inflation, high costs of living, unemployment, rural villages communities underdevelopment and insecurity banditry kidnapping will reduce and stop gradually |

The major reason why people criticise the idea is that governors will use the police for their self gain, but my question is that should we because of such reason which is not even substantial allow miscreants to continue killing people. We are really not ready to shift and deal with the real problems by confronting any governors who is ready to misuse the police for self gain while watching their people killed by bandits. Insecurity is alarming and we need to deal with it. We can not keep blaming federal government, we need solutions 1 Like |

lexy2014: You are only spinning your own narrative to an imperative action that would set the ground norm for a great country we all seek just because I hate tinubu's face......it doesn't matter who does it so far it's what will augur well for us all,it's long over due .....with this policy, the power of Abuja will be greatly diminished and more responsibility given to states. As for state that can't take on 70k minimum wage,I already told you that is a very lame escapist analogy by the lazy govs who want status quo to remain to their own benefit.....if you support them good luck to you!! No gov has no excuse not to pay 70k minimum wage......there will be a provision in the law that will make states start state policing when they are ready to,such states will still make use of the federal police buts states that can would be allowed to go ahead. Hate tinubu all you want but he is one of the most purposeful politicians we have in the south alongside Wike, they are bold and have the political will to push anything they want unlike GEJ.....nobody can push them around remember it was Wike that brought up the vat matter, tinubu has brought lg autonomy and state police, this are what we need to set us on a pedestal for development no more Abuja controling what happens in your LGA. 2 Likes |

lexy2014: You help me with this....is Nigeria working the way it is currently structured Why would a state gov not be able to pay 70k minimum wage. You can call it distraction but I call it long Overdue. I have been following politics since 1991 and I know the ideological stand of all the 3 presidential aspirants in the last election and I know this has always been what tinubu had been clamouring for when he was in opposition so I would rather support it because true federalism is the solution to our problems. 2 Likes |
