While Nigerians were crying and lamenting over the astronomical increase in petrol prices to above #1200 per liter in some places, I just discovered today that the electricity tariffs has also been secretly increased by over 300%.

A prepaid recharge of #10,000.00 which previously is 134 units is now reduced to 44 units.
Life will become terribly harder and miserable in Nigeria.
I cannot imagine why tinubu has decided to suffer human beings and fellow citizens like this.
This is unacceptable and uncalled for, this government must think of the survival of Nigerians we can't continue like this.

tinubu should do something about it, people are dying of hunger

I suspect this would happen, being enjoying uninterrupted power supply for the past 4months.

Quickly loaded 60k last weekend.

Electricity tariff is illegal and a form of discrimination. I wonder why the NASS has not summoned Adelabu to reverse the decision.

Maybe you're now in band A. If you're enjoying at least 20hrs power supply every day, then you will be moved to band A.

The DISCO in your area is suppose to inform you before doing so sha, I wander why they didn't inform you

No Prior notice at all.
The switch of a thing should be optional, because the power supply is still as usual, no improvement at all

you didnt read the memo...? banning of fossil-fuelled vehicles around the world is already in motion o!
thats the aim for many countries out there. in EU, many countries are banning sale/registration of gas cars by 2029/2030... the European Union as a whole in 2035, to thereafter have a BAN on all gas cars.

Those bands exist! Power supply is not the same everywhere in the same state because there isn't enough power to go round.

Why I insist that the bands stuff is dubious and deceptive is that prepaid meter has taken care of your consumption pattern.
If they give you light for 24hrs definitely you will pay more because you will consume more energy, likewise the person whose supply is below 24 hrs will also pay according to the amount of energy he consumes.
The fraudulent categorization is an indirect way to defraud gullible Nigerians.
This was the case when GSM came newly and we were billed per minute even you suffer dropped calls or call for just 20 seconds. It took the effort of people like us to make government change that exploitation by telecom giants.
This is another one, and government will do nothing until we talk

The government should reduce the cost of electricity tariffs.
