2024, never thought I’ll be surfing the net for visa requirements, but hey if I don’t I might be looking for an easy way out (kpia) my budget is 4m naira, I have necessary documents, 2.1 Bsc certificate, virgin passport… Europe or any Schengen countries, or Canada , going through the net traveling with Nigeria passport looks like calculus
If you have at least O/Level, you can easily move to France, Luxembourg or Portugal on study or job seeker visa

You have more than enough funds. Get Greece visa, from Greece, enter France, then Denmark.

Try and settle in Denmark, it's a nice country.

My childhood friend went through that route, and Nigga is living a better life in Copenhagen...I'm still gathering funds to Japa.

Nigeria dey make me vex every single day.

If anyone falls victim to this guy or any other person shouting "work visa" here, you'll only have yourself to blame . A simple Google search for Italian work visa and even a reverse image search of the picture he posted will let you know this is a big fat lie

Concerning the mamaput. Are you the one that will be cooking and serving customers? Or you talking about opening a large restaurant and employing staffs?

If you can cook to restaurant standard then the better as it will save costs but if you can't cook, then look for a very good cook or 2 that you will be paying on a daily basis and someone to server the customers and another to wash plates but ensure your rent is quite low.

It is doable because a lot of the successful Mama Puts you see around started with less than N50,000 if you ask them and there are thousands of food sellers that people flock to on a daily basis whose entire capital is much less than 200k.

The thing with we educated people (myself included) is that we look down on N50k as if it is chicken change whereas the not so literate women see it as a lifeline that can feed their entire family with setting up a Mama Put.

Food business remains the best business in the world as people will always eat food daily. That market is not well tapped but it is a goldmine if we shift our focus from Japa and look inwards into unmet demands before our very eyes in Nigeria.

Remember, where there is a will there is a way but because most of us educated folks have grown to have high tastes in consumption, etc, we think 1m Naira is just too small to set up a business while the illiterates will see the same 1m Naira as a fortune.

Anything that has to do with consumer goods that people consume daily will ALWAYS sell. For example when you buy a single stick of cigarrete maybe Benson and Hedges from a shop that still sells singles anywherein the whole world, British American Tobacco the company headquartered in London is making money from that sale of a single stick of cigarette hence their Turnover 20 years ago was £25 Billion. Same logic applies to coca cola, guiness and any manufacturer of FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) that people consume daily and this includes food and its no surprise that during Covid lockdown, only healthcare institutions and Food premises were exempt from lockdown because people had to eat DAILY.

The mama put does not have to be too elaborate to start with but if you keep your rents low and keep staff numbers low and be there EVERYDAY to checkmate staff theft, in no time you will reap handsome rewards.

Abroad is not smiling at the moment with racism and xenophobia rearing there ugly heads PUBLICLY EVEN in "erstwhile" tolerant England and anti-immigrant sentiment is now an election winner in the UK as evidenced by the successe of the far right Reform party in the last UK elections and conservative party memmebr of Parliarment including black and brown children of immigrants are stoking the anti-immigrant sentiment selfishly to win the next Conservative party leadership contest and the anti-immigrant Race riots during the first week of last month where Muslims, Mosques, black people and Eastern Europeans were attacked in the streets of the UK should be an eye opener for allimmigrants in the Uk that we are just being tokerated there and we are not really wanted there.

Getting a DECENT job in the UK for an immigrant is becoming harder and harder as the days go by and it will get worse so Japa'ing to the UK or any foreign country from Naija should be looked upon with a pinch of salt as the grass is DEFINITELY not greener on the other side.

The N4m the original poster has to Japa will be swallowed by Visa and Plane ticket costs leaving the person stranded, homeless and penniless in a foreign land where immigrants especially black people are looked down upon and at times treated as subhuman even in so called Western democracies. The killing of George Floyd in America and the killing of a disabled Nigerian man in public by an italian man in italy are just examples not to talk of last month when UK Racists started physically attacking immigrants including black people in the streets of many UK cities and the racists also set fire to a hotel housing immigrants without a care for if the immigrants all burned to death just last month and this should tell us part of what we need to know about the attitude towards foreigners in Western Europe.

But nowadays to buy the raw materials from the market is very expensive. People who sell cooked meals are complaining of high prices of ingredients in the market.
Do you think the business is still worth it?

You are correct in saying that people selling cooked food are finding it hard to keep all their customers but there will still be those hard core customers who WILL NOT cook or can not cook and like eating food cooked by someone else. So, its a case of reducing your profit margin as some people will just NOT cook especially older bachelors who have good paying jobs.

All in all, if someone has N4 million Naira in savings, instead of relocating to a strange xenophobic, racist country where you may not get a good job or any job at all for close to 2 years, its better to risk only N1 million of that experimenting with a Mama put and if monitored closely on a daily basis with the owner being present there every day and taking delivery of food stuff in the shop him or herself to prevent greedy staff pocketing foodstuff money and watching ALL your staff for signs of theft then its still possible to make a modest profit running a Mama Put as some people will just NOT cook - for example, the last time I really cooked was 2006.

For example if the cost of preparing a plate of food is N500, then instead of selling it for N800 to make a N300 profit, you can sell it for N700 and make a lower profit of N200 just to make sure that you make more sales.
