You also know that Eyo Ita was expected to become the Premier at the state at regional level because Zik was a Federal officer looking for Premiership in the West. Zik failed to form a majority because Ibadan People Party split for Awo whose Party could have formed Minority Government anyway.

When the Lyttleton constitution split Nigeria into regions in 1950s the NCNC was the most dominant party in the Southern region. Awolowo laid the foundation of tribalism to get Ibadan Party to cross carpet to AG already the agreement in NCNC was for Chief Fadahunsi to be Premier while Zik as leader would represent the party in Lagos.
Now again on the issue of people willing to die for him. Again stop trying to deliberately misinform people Zik was the editor in chief of the West African pilot which was declared persona non grata by the colonial government at the time and so many of his staff and even Zik himself went to jail as a result of his publications.
Finally the Western region debacle was in no way linked to how Eyo Ita was removed as deputy Premier. These incidences happened almost two years apart, with the Western region happening early 50s while the Eastern region crisis happened in the late 50s before the Lancaster talks for independence. In my previous comment which I am sure you read, I stated how the Eastern region crisis started which was due to a faction of NCNC led by Mbadiwe and Eyo Ita wanted the house to pass a vote of no confidence against Zik so that he would be removed as Premier following the investigation into allegations of misconduct over his dealings with ACB at that time. But in a twist of events all the members of the Eastern region house of Assembly and the House of Chiefs passed a vote of confidence on Zik, and Zik after regaining control told the dissident members of his cabinet to resign, which was the right thing to do.
Over time in a bid to discredit and malign Zik and subsequently sell a bad story about igbos what happened in the Eastern region house of Assembly has been twisted to sell the anti igbo propaganda.
