Hey guys, so my sister booked for her appointment on the 16th of September which is this coming Monday, and I think that's a public holiday for Eid-el- Malud, I'm just curious will NIS open on that day or she will have to go the next day for her capturing? |
Re: Cost Of A Nigeria International Passport by ekitimanalways(m): 9:07pm On Sep 12 |
Freddy94:She will have to go on Tuesday, the 17th of September 2024 for her biometric. Nigeria Immigration will be closed to applicants on the 16th of September 2024. |

My wife and children did passport renewal (DIY) biometrics capturing on May 28, 2024 at the Ado-Ekiti office of the NIS. The earlier passports are expiring at the end of this month. I have been tracking it online, but passport Issued (passport pending production) has not been checked marked ever since. Production (passport production is in progress) has been checked marked. Any idea of what could be wrong?

arilewo:Do not rely on the passport tracker. Go back to the Ado-Ekiti Passport Office… Your wife and kids’ passports may have been produced and are waiting to be collected. |

Hello Good evening everyone. I am a fresh graduate making arrangements to serve somewhere in the West by October. I plan to apply for passport at the beginning of my service year, so that the waiting period for the passport will be reading concurrently with my service. I want to know which State in the West is best and quicker to deliver the passport, and the first steps to take in registering. I'm a newbie here and will appreciate advice and directions. Thank you in advance for helping me out. |

Graced1:Ikeja Passport Office in Lagos State is best. Click the link below for fresh passport application: https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/nin/VTJGc2RHVmtYMStVS2g4UU5XaXh4QjdRaHpOYVE4dU9qRCsya09TM0FqMD0%3D Requirements for Fresh Passport Adult (18 years and above) Letter of identification from local government/state of origin or residence. Completed passport application form. Marriage certificate (If you're a married Nigerian woman). Birth Certificate (certificate issued by the National Population Commission shall be required from applicants whose date of birth is with effect from Dec 1992) or Age Declaration attached with one passport-sized photograph and duly endorsed by a Commissioner for Oaths. Acknowledgement Slip and Evidence of Payment. Based on the upward review of the fees for the Nigerian passport effective from 1st September 2024, 32-page Passport booklet with 5 year validity previously charged at thirty-five thousand naira (₦35,000) is now fifty thousand naira (₦50,000) only; while 64-page passport booklet with 10 year validity which was seventy thousand naira (N70,000) is now one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) only. |
Re: Cost Of A Nigeria International Passport by Graced1: 11:12pm On Sep 13 |
ekitimanalways:I'm really grateful. This is a detailed explanation. By clicking on the link, can I begin the application myself with PC? Secondly, I have done age declaration, but the signatory (commissioner of oaths) is what I am not sure of. I'll check my documents by morning, but before then, what happens if there's no endorcement by the C of O? Lastly, I'm going to Osun. What do you think about the passport office in Osun? Thank you Sir |
Re: Cost Of A Nigeria International Passport by ekitimanalways(m): 6:42am On Sep 14 |
Graced1:Yes, by clicking on the link you can start your passport application process yourself (I am a strong advocate of do-it-yourself) with a PC and/or smartphone. The online application process is simple and easy to use. https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/ If you were born from 1992, a birth certificate issued by the National Population Commission is required from you or age declaration if you were born before 1992. Age declaration will be rejected on the day of appointment because the applicant did not attach a passport photograph of his or hers to the age declaration and because it's not duly endorsed by a Commissioner for Oaths. My neighbour who had his passport done in Osun State some months ago said that the Osogbo Passport Office’s organized and friendly. No offence, but you didn't have to call me sir. I appreciate your good manners and respect but please you can simply call me Ekitiman. 2 Likes |

ekitimanalways: Same with me, do I need to go with a new appointment slip? Or I could still go with the one stating 16th of September. Also I checked the next available date on the website and I saw 23rd. I hope that doesn't apply to those that booked the 16th |

Re: Cost Of A Nigeria International Passport by Graced1: 9:20am On Sep 14 |
ekitimanalways:Thank you, Ekitiman. Initially I was thinking anyone can use age declaration or birth certificate (irrespective of age). That means I have to first begin application for a birth certificate. This takes me to another set of questions. From my end, using Google to search for things like this does not give real-life and actual amounts and information, so I'll be asking more questions from experienced people. Do I have to take anything to the NPC? How long and how much is the estimated time and amount to get it done? Thank you, Ekitiman. |
Re: Cost Of A Nigeria International Passport by ekitimanalways(m): 10:40am On Sep 14 |
Graced1: You are older than 18 years. Therefore, the National Population Commission will not issue you a birth certificate. Instead of a birth certificate, you will be given an attestation of birth. Note that this attestation of birth letter is completely equal to a birth certificate and carries the same legal weight both in Nigeria and when using it overseas. To get this attestation of birth letter from the NPC, you must first process and present a court affidavit attesting to your date of birth and other personal details, and the affidavit must have a declarant who will be either your father or an older male relative (brother or uncle). REQUIREMENTS FOR PROCESSING A BIRTH ATTESTATION LETTER Age declaration affidavit (from High Court). This affidavit must contain the details of both your place of birth and date of birth, the details of your parents and their place of origin, and your home address. Your passport photograph must be attached to the affidavit and the age declaration must also be duly stamped or endorsed by the Commissioner for Oaths. National Identification Number (NIN). 2 recent passport photographs. Non-refundable application fee (₦3,000). Visit the National Population Commission located in the local government secretariat of the State where you reside. When you get to the NPC office, you will be given a form to fill in for your attestation of birth letter. Thankfully, the National Population Commission (NPC) offers a convenient online portal to complete the process. Visit the NPC website (https://nationalpopulation.gov.ng/) (https://attestation.nationalpopulation.gov.ng/welcome) and navigate to the “Services” section and choose “Birth Attestation.” Click agree below the page and proceed to enter your email address in the provided space and make the online payment of ₦3,000 using the provided secure payment gateway. You’ll receive a confirmation and reference number via email. Once payment is confirmed, proceed to fill out the online registration form. This includes applicant details, parent/guardian information, hospital/clinic details, and document uploads as mentioned previously. Carefully review every information and upload for accuracy. Submit the application after confirmation. Use the reference number to track your application status. Upon completion, you’ll be notified and can download your official birth attestation from your NPC account. Please ensure a stable internet connection throughout the process. Also, use high-quality scans of documents for clear upload. Alongside, please keep a copy of the reference number for future reference. If you encounter any difficulties, consider reaching out to the NPC through their contact information available on the website. 1 Like 1 Share |

ekitimanalways:Your detailed explanations make the whole process easy even before one begins. Thank you so much. I just checked my age declaration, it has all the details you listed (including the ones I saw on the site). I will apply by Monday, hopefully everything will go seamlessly. I will be updating you as it goes. Thank you so much, Ekitiman. 🙏 2 Likes |

ekitimanalways Good afternoon sir,and thank you for your inputs. Please sir,I want to ask a question,I was meant to capture on 10th but my application was rejected because the local government of origin certificate was not available(original format),and the version I downloaded online was rejected too, because it was not original,I had to ask for the original to be couriered to me,it even led to the officers seizing my documents with threats of arrest,I found out the were pissed off because it was a DIY application, and one was even saying that I think I am wise abi? Now that my appointment date has passed, can I reschedule a new appointment date? If yes,how do I go about it,if no can I go on and capture since all required documents are complete. Ps: I found out I can't reschedule my appointment for my centre, can I go on and capture? |

jjbest123:It's no surprise that the officer(s) showed no regard to you. You got first insight into how inhumane officers (not all officers) of Nigeria Immigration Service can be towards do-it-yourself Nigerian passport applicants. You don't need to book an appointment again. Go back there and you will be captured. Please just make sure all the required documents are in order. Best wishes! If I may ask, which Passport Office the inhuman treatment meted out to you? |

ekitimanalways:I have checked my spam folder but there's no approval mail, actually,i applied for passport renewal but didn't upload an application letter as I didn't see where it was required..I was only required to upload data page of my expired passport... Could this be the reason for the delay? |

I applied for renewal of my passport on the 30th of August to beat the price hike which would take effect on September 1. I uploaded the documents required which does not include application letter and immediately proceeded to book a date for enrollment. I got my approval email exactly a week afterwards. Olubi15: |

I booked appointment immediately after the payment was successful. In other words, the approval email came after I had booked an appointment for enrollment. I chose the Ikoyi office for enrollment Olubi15: |

sirrotex:I'm confused...thought you can only book an appointment after getting an approval mail. I'm quite sure about this because I did 2 applications on the 29th,1 for myself and boy.My boy got his approval mail a week after and it was after he got the approval mail that I chose an appointment date. |
