Ayomide98: 🤠1. If you are a PhD or an MSc student with work-study options, you can definitely present yourself as a self-funder (sponsor) , based on your years of work experiences , and the funds you have saved over time. 2. If there is no work-study (*GA, TA, RA etc) option in your admission , and you are single ( not married with kids or not living with them) with no or limited dependency expenses, then your salary of 800k can be justified as a self-funder. But if you are married with kids, a hard-line consular might find your savings untrue, based on the facts that you must have family commitments, rents, tax, kids school fees etc out of your monthly emoluments. 3. It's not of CO (consular officer) duty to suggest or decide your sponsor. Consular duty is to verify your source of funds. Therefore, your father can be a billionaire and decided to fund your education to any level , regardless of the fact that you are or have being working. Even, the natural student rule is that " Student (Bsc especially) cannot/should not sponsor themselves because you are not expected to work while studying, or your working hours (20hrs a week) can never pay up your whole tuition as a self sponsored ( apply mostly to Bsc and few MSc applicants. ) 4. I think you can decide your option from my points above. ** GA (Graduate Assistant), TA (Teaching Assistant), RA (Research Assistant). Best Wishes 🙏 |

@OyotunjiUSA and others. PLEASE GUILD ME TO SUCCESS🙏🙏 Please I need your advice and help I intend going for a master's or PhD degree in USA. I am so scared that I do not have enough qualifications to get a full funding. I graduated last year. CGPA :4.03/5.0 I also graduated as the best student in my course concentration (the course is divided into 2 fields, I was the best in one field) I have one publication and I am working on another. I also finshed another research but I am yet to prepare the manuscript. I have been sending cold emails to professors but I am yet to secure an advisor. I decided to go for schools that do not require seeking an advisor before applying. These schools also do not need IELET, GRE or WES EVALUATION. All schools I am going for said the requirement is 3.0/4.0. I am scared that I don't reach this requirement with 4.03/5.0. What are my chances of getting admission for either a master's or a phd program. I am so scared that I may not be offered admission. If I lie that I did some volunteer works to boost my CV, will there be some consequences? Volunteer works are everywhere, will they be searching for each and every one of them. If I say I took some additional courses after graduating which I did not take, will there be consequences? I am so scared. No one to guild me on what to do. Note: I have 3 strong recommendation letters from my lecturers. What are your advice?? I am a baby here please guild me to success. Please. Please don't ignore. Help me. Advice me. |

Vanjori: Hey 🤠1. I will give you a debatable but honest opinion. I always go against applying for PhD directly , right after Bsc and bypassing MSc, no matter how outstanding your CGPA is rated. 2. With your CGPA, graduated as the best student , and the 3 strong recommendations from your lecturers , though, if you push farther , you will likely land a PhD admission, but you will be more respected as an MSc student with the very likely options of GA or TA which will also be a breeding ground towards your PhD application. PS: If you are an MSc holder , then keep pushing harder. There are more than 3,000 Public Research Universities in the United States, keep sending admission query. Best Wishes 🙏 |

@oyotunjiUSA God bless you so much for your guidance. I am not an MSc holder. I graduated last year (undergraduate studies). With this I think I will go for only masters study. Do you advice I include some volunteer services or conferences to boost my C.V?? Note: I did not engage in any and I don't know if there may be some consequences. OyoTunjiUSA: |

OyoTunjiUSA: No problem with that, also… I’m planning to go with a study leave letter from my employer that states half of my salary will be paid to me during the period of the study, can this serve as a form of home ties? |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by OyoTunjiUSA(m): 8:33pm On Sep 15 |
Vanjori: 🤠1. Your academic profile as narrated here is okay for a successful MSc application, without adding any seasonings. Your CGPA, the 3 recommenders , best graduating student, your publication, good SOP are okay. What you need is to keep sending positive emails to as many as graduate admissions office/department as you can Google. 🙏 1 Like |

FVA89: 🤠1. Your wife and child have been annotated for "Invisible Refusals " because they are your ties to Nigeria, and unable to overcome the presumption of Immigrant -intent while applying for their F2-VISAS. If the embassy let them in, then you will lack the required home-tie This is sometimes called being " the hostages (your wife and kid) ". 2. Yes, they can apply for B2 VISAS or any other VISAS but provided that they are qualified. Previous F2 visa denials does not mean that they cannot apply for any other visas again. 🙏 1 Like |

Good day everyone. I applied for an F1 visa and paid visa fee before august 16,2024. Gt Bank was still being used as at that time. So I went on with my appointment process and was in pre approval stage. However, the pre approval link was sent to my mail weeks after the website has been changed (sept 2) and so when I wanted to enter the payment mode I used, there was no GTB on the new website. It has been changed to first bank. I was informed by my agent that another mail will be sent to me as regards that but I haven’t received any mail. Does it take this long? Or is there something else I can do? Please, I really need your advice. I have deferred once so now my admission is for January, 2025. So I have just now till December to get an appointment. Awaiting your reply plssss. Thank you |

Good afternoon everyone, please I kindly need answers I have currently applied for an F1 visa and have been scheduled for 7th January but my school resumes 6th. I would like to confirm if I can click on reschedule on the new site incase I get to see a closer date luckily. It shows that I have 2 reschedules. Now my question is this, if I click on the reschedule, will it annul the date that has already been confirmed (7th) or should I wait and apply for an emergency date? I am in a pickle right now and would really appreciate any help in moving forward. THANK YOU. @OyoTunjiUSA I would really appreciate your input sir. Also if there is any group where we try to find dates or just any group in general that is F1 based, kindly reply to this so I can get to join. THANK YOU. |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Apaniskin: 3:22pm On Sep 16 |
Good day everyone. Please, I need clarification on something. I filled the Ds160 application and made visa payment(F1 visa) on august 5 via GTBank. I proceeded to fix my appointment but was at the pre-approval stage while awaiting the mail or link for approval to my request for appointment. Later on there was an announcement that the us visa website will be changed from august 16. The mail came in sept 2. I clicked the link (which is the new website) and logged in but at the payment section there was no GTbank that I used as at the time I paid so I couldn’t enter the visa fee payment transaction/ reference id. It has been changed to first bank. I was informed that a mail would be sent to me again. Is this normal? I’ve been expecting the mail for about 2 weeks now but to no avail. Does it take this long? Or is there something else I can do? I’ve deferred my admission once to January, so I have now till December to get an appointment date. Please help 🙏🏽. It’s my first time trying this. Thank you |

bcd12a: I have paid for visa since august 5 but I used GTB and now to move on with getting appointment date , the GTB I used is no longer on their website. It has been changed to first bank. So I couldn’t enter the reference Id on my transaction receipt given to me when I made payment at GTB. I was just informed a mail would be sent. But it’s over two weeks now. Have you come across anyone with this same issue ? What can be done? Cos I’ve received the pre approval mail from usvisaappt on sept 2nd , now I can’t go ahead cos gtb bank isn’t longer on the website but first bank so I can’t enter my visa payment ref id. What do you advise ? Does it take this long? Has anyone been in similar situation? Plssss |

Good day everyone. Please, I need help @oyotunjiusa @chibertha and other bosses. I intend to submit application to schools but getting referees is my biggest challenge. It’s very difficult for me to get 3 people that I would use as my referees (I intend to apply to a number of schools), so I need people that would be willing to submit for me all the time. Please, what can I do. I really want a solution to this🙏🙏 Thank you. |

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by OyoTunjiUSA(m): 5:04pm On Sep 16 |
TENTENTEN: Hey 🤠1. You should be able to achieve your desired dates ( perhaps, Nov/Dec, 2024) with the new -three (3) lifelines (2x reschedule , 1x Expedient appointment) provided by the embassy. 2. Your current January , 2024 date will not disappear or annulled automatically, by mere clicking on reschedule, not, until you finally pick and click on another date, and the system automatically refreshed in confirmation of your new pick. Therefore, you can click on the reschedule option 100 times and back off ( if there is no favourable dates in the previewed calendar). 3. For now till end of October, you should keep using the reschedule option to search for nearer dates, in which i believe you should achieve prior to the given time . There is no official or authorised Nairaland Date-search group known to me as at this moment. Best Wishes 🙏 |
