Goke7:Exactly. When they were praising Kante, it used to baffle me cos me I come from a football template where it is the 10s that earns plaudits. Kante is good oo but I'm saying that in times past such players don't earn praise as much as was showered on him. Only underlines how football has changed. So we too after crying and crying that modern football is barren, we clean our eyes and chop the eba without soup that is modern football. 2 Likes |

Ahmed Musa coming back to the NPFL, hope he joins his hometown team Plateau Utd. Though Rangers would need his experience for the CAF CL. |

Mujtahida:Truth is both Roy Keane and Patrick Viera are such players too but in that era we still saw that creativity from the middle from the likes of Zidane, Figo until till the Xavi era but Kante come scatter the table kpatakpata 😂 |

Goke7:What of our own Oliseh? Gattuso nko, Edgar Davids them. I thought the idea was to pair them with a creative player like the ones you mentioned. But gradually the creative players are moving into the background while the destroyers occupy front place. |

Mujtahida: Agreed look at the modern midfielders that run games without unnecessary dribbling and over skills. It's about mentality speed of thought football intelligence and defence splitting passes, you see the modern athletic fast midfielders. It's skill with purpose and killer passes. |

Danielnino00: You lack knowledge It's the transition from defence to attack that separates quality from mediocrity. And the players who run the game from defence and turn it into attack and or assist as well. Player's like Rodrigo ( Manchester city) Rice ( Arsenal) Douglas Lui, Ngole Kante, Actually , having typecast players who camo ly play one role is not a top player. Look at France the whole midfield can go offensiyand be inventive but they also can defend To answer your question ❓ directly all midfieldets must be able to create , be inventive and defend as well. UNFORTUNATELY the two defensive midfielders you have mentioned cannot create anything substantial. |

charlesemeka85: I stopped talking about Chuks Aneke about 6/7 years ago, he is seriously injury prone was once out for two year's with injury. He is at Charlton Athletic and still relevant at that level. But not good enough in my opinion for the SE. A player once hailed as the new Yaya Toure by Arsene Wenger. Lots of promise killed by injury. I just remembered him now thanks 👍🏿 for the reminder. Maybe I'm being too harsh do you think he should be invited. After all we have two league one players in the SE set up , one midfield maestro extraordinair unable to get a single game for Barnsley so far. There is hope he made the bench once. A reminder of Chuks Aneke now 31 plus , what he can do. https://www.skysports.com/football/video/16478/13211067/chuks-anekes-stunning-strike-levels-for-charlton-against-rotherham

Setaleonoz: His limited playing time has affected him. Just before his move from Burnley to Leverkusen Tella's individual brilliance shone above his teammates, as helped lead Vincent Kompany's team back to the EPL. At Leverkusen, he has won the Bundesliga and league cup, played in the European final but then his role has been minimal, with less time. I dare say come January, if it remains the same he can take a loan move back to England for middle table EPL team. Or move to the Seria A like we have our two forwards that is Lookman and Chukwueze. |

Look at d two games haunting eguavoen now( na d two otondo keepers cause am; uzoho error against ghana and Okoye blunder against Tunisia 🇹🇳 plus d iwobi red card . 5 Likes |

Not a big fan of Victor Boniface due solely to his rather infantile antiques on social media, but dude was huge in that match against Rwanda. His recent performance for his club also shows he has bounced back from that injury set back. I have been wondering, though Chukwueze is my boy, is there no how we could play Ademola, Osimhen and Boniface up front while Chukwueze sits? |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 5:33pm On Sep 17 |
ChrisKels:I've said it many times that Boniface will be immense for us. This I have seen. Chukwueze has been ineffective even in matches where he plays well. As an attacker, having a good game means creating goal scoring chances or scoring goals. Chukwueze doesn't do either of these. He should be benched. A front 3 of Lookman - Osimhen - Boniface is mouthwatering and it can work if they play together rather than gun for individual glory. Lookman has that tendency 2 Likes |

Goke7:I swear. That's why I am always bemoaning what modern football feeds us. Absolute scraps. In fact one of the best matches Zidane played was France v Portugal in Euro 2000. It was a masterclass. Since modern football doesn't value these kind of players, they are gradually disappearing. |
