It is because Dollar which is the QUOTE currency to Gold is -ve on the economic calendar meaning it will devalue and appear bigger/bullish/higher price than b4 and for eg Naira for which Dollar is the base currency, it will appear like Naira is appreciating in value ( all things being equal). So, when dollar starts showing positive again b4 it (gold) seem to go down.
