As a farmer, this is not new. While we enjoy bountiful harvest most years, a particular year will come with bad news. Like this year, some Farmers are having a bad times due to flood.

But we always go e God the glory for everything.

Sorry for your loss brother. It's saddened to see one's expectations dashed.

Please, can you give me free tutor on how to cultivate ginger successfully especially in Southwest?

I am based in Akure to be precise.

Your efforts shall never be in vain bro. Take heart. Can I still plant ginger in this month or October?

Isn't that insurance? undecided

That’s not insurance. It’s a loan with certain conditions.

You get a loan or grant to start or run a business, while insurance is a way to manage your business risk in case of any eventuality.

None. The only insurance is that, if you collect a loan facility from Government to farm and you encounter this. Government will not ask you to refund the loan.
could be applicable to private sector?

Many young Nigerians would have tried their hands in farming businesses, but the current state of the country discourages them from doing so.

In Nigeria, security concerns cause individuals to lose interest in farming.

Get grasshoppers to eat up the farm then get weaver birds to eat up the grasshoppers. The droppings of the weaver birds will provide the best ever fertilisers. Plant the ginger again you will reap a 100 fold of bountiful harvest and forget your lost.
The lost is an opportunity to blow .

Hi Bro,
Sorry about your loss.
Avail yourself of an insurance cover, many insurance companies offer different types of policies that can provide some mitigation incase of incidents like this.
You will recover the loss. Amen

that's still sort of insurance naa.
If u collect a loan from a bank and stake your house as a collateral and do not repay the loan for any reason, the bank will just seize the house, sell it and recover their money.
At least in this case, the institution forgave them the loan, minimising their loss.
And loan is different from grant. U repay loan but do not repay grant.

Find out the name of this disease and the right agro chemical to apply for prevention in future. It is better to spend some money on prevention than losing your entire harvest.

I've never seen someone so acceptable of a loss. I love this spirit of I can't win all the time ... and when the loss comes you accept it and just look forward to the next round. How big is the farm? Did you research the disease? ... its name? ... what causes it? ... fungus?...moths? ... birds? ....how to control/prevent it? ... is it something in the soil? ...or airborne? ,..were the ginger developed enough to harvest? ... how does the disease affect the ginger? ...stops it from developing? I don't know much about ginger ... remember seeing the plant yearssss ago....and was wondering ehmmm ... when they were ready to start pushing out blossoms and bringing forth fruits ... but I learned a little since then and looking forward to learn more from your thread. I'm thinking crop rotation would be best since the bacteria or whatever will not get its favorite plant to survive. Lastly...ginger will be in more demand since it is very effective in fighting diseases. Is your ginger natural/organic?

Disappointed? .... no doubt...discouraged?.. don't let this one take set.
