Did you know that for every single american fighter that was killed, 10 talibans were killed too? Americans basically owned that place for twenty years.

Or was it when they were leaving and thousands of afghans were trampling over themselves to follow them?

You're late to the party.. Israel blew up their consulate in Damascus, killing two generals in the process. Iran retaliated by launching a lot of attacks that didn't cause any major damage. Israel then lauched new ones to an airbase in Iran and nearly destroyed it completely.

They couldn’t stay in Afghanistan. Troop casualties was mounting, operational cost was off the roof, the government they struggled to put in place was sham, the Afghan army they trained, were Taliban people. The entire mission was hopeless.
America was defeated by less than a rag tag army of Taliban.
