And if my Grandma had wheels, she would have been a bike.

Maresca understands the Jackson moves the ball during build-up play with alacrity; which allows his system to work effectively. The system relies on all support casts arriving in the box for a higher xG. Maresca understands that the sacrifice is that Jackson is not as clinical as Haaland, and he still misses a handful..... but the collective team effort will be better for it.

It's very similar to what Maresca said about Sanchez's mistakes yesterday.

Remove Jackson, put Osimhen, and xG for all support casts probably reduces. Osimhen probably doesn't even get to be in position to miss the chances that Jackson is missing in the first place. Overall movement, fluidity and collective effort reduces, which could reflect on overall scoring output.... whereas Osimhen might be topping the charts in the league.

This is how system football works. It does not mean that "removing this player for that player", and now everything starts to click. The only way it works better is if you can find a player that combines the best qualities of Jackson and Haaland.

Don't let actors like Airmark tell you otherwise. grin grin

Still image or still steel legs, too heavy to swiftly hit the ball? Thank God that Palmer wasn't as wasteful yesterday.

Palmer wasted more clean chances than Jackson yesterday

But he scored 4 extra goals to make up for the 2 he missed.

That's what sets him apart. If we had to rely on Jackson, after those misses we're definitely losing or drawing the game.

That's the difference. Its not like Jackson somehow makes up for his misses. Once he don miss he don miss and can do that over and over again.

Dude already fumbled that chance for the first goal. We were lucky Palmer was there at that time to get that pass if not na another straight miss.

The thing about Jackson is when he's on an off day, then its all over. He can miss 20 chances and not score 1. He's not the type to miss and make up for it. Na till next match then if he's on his "on day" he goes on to score and that calling out those who don't see him as elite levels which he isn't right now

How many did they miss each?

I am not sure Palmer missed an empty net like this yesterday. You may post the image to remind me.

You asked us not to sign a new LWF and also wanted us to sign an experienced CB. Sancho now has 3 assists in 3 matches.

You are a very poor football analyst as we focused more on attack in the summer window against your wish and now winning matches with Sancho and without your so-called experienced CB.

Replace your wasteful and epileptic Jackson with a better finisher, and we will be a strong contender for the Epl title.

Cover your face in shame.

airmark:

Maybe you didn't have data when I was asking for 1 LWF that could dribble in tight spaces and Timbros was strongly against it.

Had we got a clinical finisher, we would have beaten Crystal Palace and be leading the table now and become a strong contender for the trophy after spending over 1bn on players.

My opinion on football is too complex for casuals and my high expectation of a striker is alien to Gen Z Chelsea fans. But that's not my problem.

Jackson burying this chance would have seen us topping the table today, but most of you wouldn't see it.

One thing I won't take from you is lying against me. I'm still alive and my posts are still here, untampered. I made the post below on the 20th of February in response to Jodera who asked how I will spend 200m of I was the coach...

Why are you lying against me?

timbros:

grin grin

If I can get ONLY 3 players with 200m, I'll get a CB and CF. The last spot will be either of LW/RB/LB.

Fofana, Chilwell, James all have terrible injury records. Silva is already semi retired. These are defensive positions that needs reinforcement critically. I have not even mentioned the goalkeeper department.

Our left and central side of attack currently needs upgrade.

So you see that our problem is not just attack.

And apart from just signing players, we need a coach that can actually upgrade the players we currently have. A different coach can come in and change these crop of players to monsters and drop the jaw of football world. These are young players that can be moulded.

Mourinho came into Chelsea in 2004 and suddenly Geremi became solid. Terry became a rock. Lampard already have the talent but he became much much more better. Joe Cole became a terrorist. Even soft Glenn Johnson deliver wenever he was called upon..... All these are players Mourinho met in Chelsea. So apart from his signings, he still improved the players he met in the club.

Chelsea issue is not just attack.

grin grin grin

We can get strikers that do that and still won't be as wasteful as Jackson. That's what we need to compete for the Epl title. Without Palmer yesterday, we would have lost, so I don't understand this Jackson being the one making Maresca's system to work effectively. Nkunku rescued us against Bournemouth when Jackson was playing nonsense. Palmer also rescued us yesterday. We know who is making Maresca's system to work effectively and it's not Jackson.

Good that you didn't state that Osimhen would be missing all those big chances Jackson has missed. We both agree that Osimhen is a better finisher and that's enough. Claiming that he wouldn't be positioning himself for chances like Jackson does, is speculation that can be easily thrown out of the window with Osimhen's goal stats with Lille and Napoli, with inferior quality of ball passers.

Get a natural finisher that won't need wingers to be running into the box all the time, because of his wastefulness in the box and at the same time defending deep as required. We must not kill our support casts because of one wasteful striker. A clinical finisher will relieve such unnecessary burden.

I also acted on Morata that you defended shockingly and we saw how it ended. We know how this will end too and who the actor will be at the end of the day.

This picture doesn't do it justice. I'm one of Jackson's critics, but this one isn't accurate. He did everything right, the defender literally cleared the ball away from the net. It's not like Jackson missed it entirely.

There's also improvement from last season. You can see it in how he messed up the first goal but quickly fixed it by passing to Palmer.

Palmer could have easily scored 7 goals yesterday

Unfortunately this is how a casual football viewer like you and Nateevs will see it, but a sound coach will suspend him to agility and footwork drills in the next training session.

I am still waiting for the number of clean chances missed by both Palmer and Jackson.

I don't need to argue with you.

Anybody who watched that game knew that was a well taken shot, which was blocked by a Defender.

Jackson did everything there excellently

I think you are a defender. Anyone who played as a forward knows Jackson was just being a wastepipe there.

I remember Lewandowski in similar instance, rounded a goal keeper, took a quick look at the post and hit the ball in the opposite direction of an unrushing defender. It is a normal striker's awareness around the box.

Go back and look at that video and see Jackson, bizarrely taking a quick look toward to opposite direction of the post before firing. He didn't even see the unrushing defender.

Striker's have instinct and and see non where Jackson is.

Airmark, tell us the natural finisher you want. Last year, it was Vlahovic throughout. Before the season started, it was Dovbyk Dovbyk Dovbyk...... and then Guirassy Guirassy....

Now you are looking every week and seeing that Jackson the wasteful is outperforming your favourites...... then you moved to Gyokeres to make it look like you were always in the know.

You are a poor assessor of strikers. You are in no position to lecture others. Anybody can cast a large net over a number of strikers, hit on one, and now not make us hear word.

If anybody can go through Airmark's posts in the last year alone, and fetch us the number of times he asked us to sign Dovbyk as the perfect replacement for Jackson, I will pay that person N50k.

And now, he's slowly walking away from his beloved Dovbyk, just like he tried walking back on Jackson last week, when it seemed like Jackson was on a roll.

In as much as I don't really like how Jackson misses chances,,one thing about football is that wen there's no pressure on a player to score he may not score especially after palmer put in 4goals.. The way city is built now,, if Halaand isn't scoring they run into problems,, reason why they dropped points yesterday,, even though other attackers can score.... There's need for team balance to avoid unpleasant occurrences

For the record i don't have a personal beef with Jackson. I think he's just there like a normal decent striker. Not a prolific one.

I see stats raking up nd down that he's the first player to do this and that, makes me remember when Tammy Abraham was dropping numbers up and down.

I think we're very lucky that we don't have to rely sole on Jackson for goals. The other players are there stepping up cos if we had to do that then we definitely won't be competent enough to worry City or Assnal anytime soon
