Annettevoke: This is very wrong information that is leading many Nigerian students to become stranded in Canada, as many students are struggling to find jobs. Many have been without a job for 9 to 12 months. Or how can you do 5 jobs with the 20 hours max allowed for students? It’s just impossible to work and pay those crazy tuition fees along with your rent. I see many students now declaring asylum because they are stranded due to financial difficulties, based on misleading and trashy information about working and studying in Canada ,please plan how you will pay your fees or you will be stranded in canada even resident and citizen are struggling for jobs now and study in canada no longer gurantee PR! 6 Likes |

gaeul: This kind of misleading motivation is pushing many into stress in Canada because they arrive with false hopes after reading exaggerated stories like this in 2024. How can you save 10k in two months? Even as a Canadian resident, I can't save that, and a student can only work 20 hours—so how can you save 10k? Please wake up; it's 2024, and Canada is struggling economically! Every student is welcome, but come prepared financially and stop believing in fairy tales. With over 13,000 students out of school and now seeking asylum in the last 8 months in 2024 mostly due to financially difficult , do you think they’re lazy! 9 Likes |

The student chose one out of the five jobs. Email me, and I'll show you proof. It's a part-time 20-hour/wk job at a care home. it is not all information that is misleading. I even mentioned that it depends on the job you are looking for. students should look for survival jobs at the start, then after school, they will get better opportunities. many people are landing 6 figure jobs in Canada as we speak. sorry my friend I gave you very authentic info. affoncad: |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by walenden: 12:56am On Oct 04 |
Annettevoke: Firstly, are you a student in Canada or a visa agent? I don’t think anyone needs to email you because if you are a visa agent misleading people just to get customers for Canada visa processing, you will face the consequences. Many students are struggling in Canada, facing hardships, and even getting a cleaning job is not easy, as many rely on loans to cover their expenses. If you mislead people out of greed, you will face an untimely death. I know how many times I’ve had to send money to my brother in Canada from Lagos, and he even ended up on the street at one point. Even the few students who are working find it impossible to pay those expensive tuition fees, rent, and still live normally, despite all the hype about Canada. But people like you come online to lie, painting a rosy picture, while many students are looking for help from home. You should be ashamed for creating this false narrative and misleading people. Some parents are online too, and you make it seem like people without jobs in Canada are lazy or picky, when in fact, jobs are very hard to secure and can’t even cover all their bills and school fees without resulting to loan or help from home . I hope those being deceived will land in Canada and face reality! God will surely judge confusionist like you !! 6 Likes |

walenden: Very well said. Let those who have ears listen. It is impossible to do 20 hours work per week which is what the law allows during school term and pay school fees and upkeep. You will need support from back home. 6 Likes |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by uchennay: 9:47am On Oct 04 |
gaeul: I am in Canada, and with the 20-hour work limit for students, it's not possible. I guess you arrived in Canada before COVID, and during COVID, students were allowed to work full time. However, the economy is not the same now, with high unemployment nd law, changing . As a student coming to Canada today, you need to plan how to pay your fees or consider options for loans. You cannot work to pay your school fees—it's 100% impossible. That's why many students are dropping out of school to claim asylum. Comparing the time when students could work full time with more job availability to now, when it's 20 hours and there are fewer jobs, are two different situations. Bobomaigida: Well, I pray you’re not in this same situation. I’ve thought about it, but what about the money already invested on this journey ,the shame, embarrassment, and disappointment, along with the sense of failure, associated with returning to Nigeria with nothing after a celebrated relocation abroad with friends ,neighbour and family, and then moving back to the same street or back to the village to start a miserable, depressing journey. It’s not as easy as you think. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Thanks for your cursing and swearing, I am not a student but a PR in Canada, so please email me and let me direct your brother for free without any reward. I promise you if your brother is ready to do small jobs as I can call it, I will get him one and you will need to come back here to apologize and take back your words, but if you don't contact me, it's up to you. sometimes in life, you just need the right information and connection to succeed. I repeat people are getting jobs as caregivers and other minial jobs that students can get. I am not advising anyone to come to Canada I am giving you facts and forget those empty rhetorics. Smart ones and common sense understand what am saying. I am not an agent looking for anyone to get a visa for. This same Nairaland is where I got info to get a scholarship to USASK MSC Finance in 2020 with the help of @frank and other people who shared very useful information on this platform. Today am a resident in Canada working with a big firm. My friend people work hard for their success. I now see the reasons why this page is dry, unlike before when we used to share timeline of approvals. I will rest my case here and best of luck to your brother. Peace and success to all prospective students to Canada. walenden: 3 Likes |

walenden: I feel you, sincerely I do. The feelings you have robustly described is what many people in Nigeria are feeling with no light at the end of the tunnel. What keeps your brother going is that with dedication he will overcome these challenges and be stable and ultimately successful. However, you hardly see that in Nigeria, we are either waiting for political appointment to give us license to steal or get patronage from the political class via contract. So let's just leave everyone to do their thing. 1 Like |
