Xscape1993: Madam Aisha is just loitering around the Social Media for relevance and once you are not an Obedient, she and other likes will be ranting. Before ow,I thought they are serious set of People, but recent events proved abortive, for their Party - an LP, couldn't even conduct a Free and Fair elections, nor render a neat- Audited Account of a Single State, without accrimony,as sane Nigerians- have since moved away! Very Shameful Indeed. 1 Like |

I asked Meta AI on WhatsApp as regards this issue There isn't a single, universally accepted term that encompasses criminals, bandits, and terrorists. However, some terms are used to describe individuals or groups engaging in illicit activities: *General Terms:* 1. Malefactors (persons who commit evil or wrongful acts) 2. Miscreants (persons who engage in wrongful or criminal behavior) 3. Outlaws (persons who operate outside the law) 4. Insurgents (groups or individuals rebelling against authority) *Differentiating Factors:* Here's a breakdown of the distinct characteristics of criminals, bandits, and terrorists: *Criminals:* 1. Engage in illegal activities for personal gain (e.g., theft, robbery, fraud) 2. Typically motivated by financial or material interests 3. May operate individually or in small groups 4. Often targeted by law enforcement agencies *Bandits:* 1. Engage in organized, violent, and predatory crimes (e.g., robbery, kidnapping, extortion) 2. Typically operate in groups or gangs 3. Often target vulnerable individuals or communities 4. May have a hierarchical structure or leadership *Terrorists:* 1. Engage in violent acts intended to create fear, intimidate, or coerce societies or governments 2. Typically motivated by ideological, political, or religious beliefs 3. Often operate in organized groups or networks 4. May target civilians, infrastructure, or symbolic targets *Key differences:* 1. Motivation: Criminals (financial), Bandits (predatory), Terrorists (ideological) 2. Scope: Criminals (individual), Bandits (group), Terrorists (mass casualties) 3. Tactics: Criminals (conventional crimes), Bandits (violent crimes), Terrorists (explosives, hijackings) 4. Goals: Criminals (personal gain), Bandits (financial gain), Terrorists (political or social change) *Overlapping Characteristics:* 1. Violence: All three may employ violence to achieve their goals. 2. Organized nature: Bandits and terrorists often operate in organized groups. 3. Illicit activities: All three engage in illegal activities. *International Classifications:* 1. United Nations: Uses terms like "transnational organized crime" and "terrorism" to describe these groups. 2. European Union: Defines "organized crime" and "terrorism" separately. Keep in mind that these distinctions are not absolute and may vary depending on context, jurisdiction, or cultural perspectives. |

Reno is a perfect antidote to a disease that doesn't exist. The guys u are calling bandits are expelling people from their ancestral homes , occupying it and renaming peoples hometowns and that doesn't look to u like an extension of the usman danfodio rampage ? Baptize them with any name u like, it doesn't change the obvious. 1 Like |

Another lie "no bandit leader was killed under Buhari". Whether terrorists or bandits, they are all criminals, simply because they are crime committers. |

Invest4growth: Kemetian: Starhearts: Ttalk: bugu51: Guestlander: I dont know what they have used on you all. You are so naive you dont understand the slightest thing. You are the sort of people who Squealer of Animal Farm can dribble by saying "A bird's wings comrades, is an organ of propulsion and not of manipulation. It is therefore, a leg." In case you dont know the book, Animal Farm, by George Orwell, please google the context of what I just wrote here. You will also find that Comrade Squealer used the words "propulsion" and "manipulation" correctly and yet there was a fantastic dribble being played. They key is to understand the context when words are being played with. Let me just summarize it for you. In a country where a government wishes to tell you that it has "technically defeated" BOKO HARAM, it will suddenly shift to different sets of terms for the same people. So it will called them Herdsmen. It will call them Bandits. It will call them Criminals. Every single one of those terms will be technically right, but the simple truth is that they are dribbling you with words. Because in Nigeria, there is scant difference between the so called terrorist and the so called bandit - and the terms are as fluid as they come. To give you a very simple analogy, the government said fuel subsidy is gone. When it became obvious that there is still backdoor subsidy, the terms suddenly changed to NNPC describing it as "shortfall" and "under-recovery." People like you will bring out a book of financial terms and read there that these terms are right. And you will go to bed naive to how fantastically someone just dribbled you. Please do know that a terrorist is also a bandit and a criminal, especially in the context of the history of Northern violence in Nigeria. As members of terrorist groups still today roam as random sets of bandits. Indeed as someone pointed out, the definition he produced for terrorist also fits many politicians. But for you lot, if a dictionary definition of a politician is produced, that will suffice to prove to you that politicians are not terrorists. How naive. Reno is an extremely dishonest person and one of the most shameless creatures on Earth. He is simply playing with words there to dribble the naive. Nuff said. 1 Like |

DeepSight: One of the things you learn very early in elementary school is to say what you mean and mean what you say. There's are no ambiguities here except those you are making up for yourself. So, you've read The Animal Farm? Good for you, some people have read far more than that. It is absurd to suggest that all criminals are terrorists. In fact, it is dumb to say so. Reno presented the context and the facts, you are the one who is parsing. |

Exousiang01: Had a bit of discussion with one a couple of days ago here on Nairaland. Him: Nigerians abroad are there cleaning toilets. Life is tough here, but I will not go abroad and clean toilets. Me: With that attitude, you cannot make it in life. First, you despise honest labor, secondly you are unlikely to recognize opportunity when it comes along. Him: I know you are also cleaning toilets in US. You are hopeless. Me: Believe what you like. Do you know that the average American will do anything available just to stay afloat while waiting for the next great idea and next huge income opportunity to come along? The average Nigerian will spend the entire day cursing the leaders while waiting for big money to come strolling into his bedroom. Him: In America they have regular electricity and easy transportation and that is why they succeed in business Me: Stop dwelling on what you don't have and use what you have to advantage. The average American might be a couple of salaries away from being homeless. You are possibly still living in your parent's home. The average American has very little time to use the electricity at home because he is out hustling, sometimes doing two jobs. Get off your ass and go hustle outside instead of waiting for easy money at home. The average American needs a car to get anywhere, unless they live in cities with integrated public transport and consequently higher cost of living. In most Nigerian cities you can travel from one end to the other in an hour using available transport. Him: Getat , Toilet Cleaner. How correct you are. 1 Like |

Guestlander: No one has said s this. And no one would - but all terrorists are indeed criminals. Nevertheless. What I am telling you is simple: that when a government wants to dribble you, it can play with words, even technically right words to do so. I gave the subsidy example. The only reason the word "bandits" was introduced in Nigeria was to claim that terrorists had been defeated, and so these were different people. If you dont understand that, you dont understand anything. Highway robbers, gangs of armed hoodlums of every description have always existed, not just in Nigera but all over the world. In Nigeria, the word "bandit" was introduced into the public consciousness for a specific reason - and it was simply to claim that the terrorism problem had been solved. 1 Like |

Guestlander: No he didnt, if he did, he would have made the obvious connection with the government claims to have "technically defeated" Boko Haram. Dont worry. Maybe someone like you will also believe that the PH Refinery is "technically" complete as they have said. Or that subsidy was removed but suddenly "shortfall" and "under recovery" came into existence. You should know the reall context of his statement is an attempt to claim that the govt is doing well with security issues in the North. And it is not. It is you who should not be naive. |
