πŸ˜‚..it's not a stupid question, rather very optimistic. Your budget will get you a small power Bank at best. If your power needs exceeds that, then you need to reassess your budget.

Thanks for recommending PowMr, bro.

1. PowMr 12.8v 100ah LiFePO4 battery. Each unit is rated 1280wh/1.28kwh. Connecting 2 in series will give you a 24v system and 2560wh/2.56kwh. One unit sells for 290,000. If you buy 2 units, significant discount applies.

You seem to be knowledgeable about such things.

I was able to charge the batteries in one Dell laptop by bypassing the BMS to raise the voltage, the BMS has refused to startup since then. I have tried putting voltage on the BMS terminal to switch it on, did not work.

Any ideas?
bassdow:
One of the things I thought earlier. Same happens regularly in laptop batteries. A single cell in a string could render the entire thing useless.

I want to believe even that bad one could be refurbished. Probably change the electrolyte and charge seperately.

Glad you had it sorted

Most lapTop BMS has internal switches that DIEs the moment power is completely cut.

Most times when performing surgery on laptop powerPacks (battery), I ensure I never completely disconnect the BMS even if it means tapping into another power source. That way, You don't trip the internal switch.

Once that switch is tripped, it disconnects. Waking it up no be small work and requires deep experience in BMS circuitry + have necessary tools. Not worth it in my own opinion.

This happens mostly on OEM (follow-Come original) batteries. Those China replacement batteries are not ALWAYs that strict.

NEXT time, never completely disConnect that panel. it does a lot of work including monitoring temperature and voltages. For now, except you willing to put in the work, that's if you've got the necessary skills + resources, just salvages those cells and console your self. At least You've learnt something. Na so me sef take learn.

Hope I am clear enough ?

I am a newbie who just found interest in Solar,

Pls I’d like to know which Lithium battery (or any efficient product) and Inverter I can go for with a budget of 350-400k.

There is Nepa Light some days for me to charge the Battery regularly.

NB: Just Lithium Battery and Inverter (No Solar panel)

Thank you!

Hello bro,

It is a good idea, as a newbie, to start small and learn on the go, before upgrading and going big. Most of us started small as well, mostly for budget reasons though... cheesy

For your budget, i can offer you the following:

1. Powmr 12.8v 100ah (1280wh/1/29kwh) Lithium (LiFePO4) battery for 290,000 each. Battery will come with a free voltage indicator as shown in the picture below

You can watch the load capacity test video of the battery done by a very technical Nairalander and contributor to this thread:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTtdMd25__s

You can also visit our dedicated thread to see 2 other videos he did on the battery, and also check out a few reviews from current users of the battery:
https://www.nairaland.com/8194434/powmr-12.8v-100ah-lithium-lifepo4#131666850

2. EASun 1600w (800w) Pure Sinewave offgrid inverter for 69,000, capable of powering your house through the mains input and carrying significant normal everyday home appliances

You can check out this hobbyist and crude video i did showing the appliances the inverter can carry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KAuD7Bh9uk?si=CqzIQxmY5bmpRlGm

3. Dedicated 20A Lithium (LiFePO4) battery charger. It is a smart charger that can charge your battery to the maximum recommended charge voltage of 14.6v, and stop charging to prevent damage to your battery. And it can recharge your battery back to full capacity in 5hours.

Price is 48,000

A major benefit of this system is that it is modular (meaning, its components are stand-alone), easily mobile and very easy to connect as you can see in the 3rd picture, so you have opportunities to manipulate the system for learning purposes, easily upgrade in the future and you can even use it for other purposes.

For instance, i can easily detach the battery voltage indicator and use it to check the voltage of my car battery as part of troubleshooting if my car refuses to start on a morning. I also, occasionally, use the system to quickly start my car if my car battery is flat.

With an extra 16k, I can also offer you a customized bag with which you can easily carry the system from place to place.

I am in Lagos, and you can get the system within 24hours.

You seems to hate lithium batteries, why? We have a lot of trusted diy pack builders which i have not seen any bad reviews against them he can easily buy from them. There are also lot of fake gel, wet cells or tubular batteries out there. Have you used lithium batteries before? Or do you have any experience against them because i don't understand the hate against them.

Like I said earlier, a number of things could trip the hidden switch. it could be a short-circuit, it could be it sensed the temperature wasn't what it ought to be, it could be it's voltage ran too low, it could be it was disconnected from the battery, etc.

Any of these things could have caused it.

Either way, hopefully you have got a multi-meter to at least test the voltage directly from the battery cells. if they read anywhere from 11.5 and above, even if it's a bit lower, then that switch has been triggered.

Before my present trick of running Laptops on 12-volts and a bit lower, I used to increase the battery on a laptop battery by adding more in Parallel. Even after doing that, I still need to trick Windows Power manager (then I was still a Windows OS user) not to shut down when the battery indicator says 0%.

My laptop then could be flashing 3% or even 0% for over 8-hours and e never off.

Gradually, I kept tweaking things as I never settle easily. I'm constantly looking to make things better. And those day, I get enough time.

It was though those several tweaking, I one day decided to ditch and byPass the battery completely.

Me wey don replace that Lithium cells inside Laptop battery with 12-volts 100AH Solar battery. Then should you see the laptop, you would see a cable coming out of the battery compartment.

You see eh, I don play wella
