walenden:If true, then the situation is deplorable! No ifs or buts! Terrible and disgusting! Why should getting cleaning jobs be so difficult for international students? I know how many times I’ve had to send money to my brother in Canada from Lagos, and he even ended up on the street at one point. Even the few students who are working find it impossible to pay those expensive tuition fees, rent, and still live normally, despite all the hype about Canada. But people like you come online to lie, painting a rosy picture, while many students are looking for help from home. You should be ashamed for creating this false narrative and misleading people. Some parents are online too, and you make it seem like people without jobs in Canada are lazy or picky, when in fact, jobs are very hard to secure and can’t even cover all their bills and school fees without resulting to loan or help from home . I hope those being deceived will land in Canada and face reality! God will surely judge confusionist like you !!I thought @maternal believes a married man with a child who got 26M should move to Canada? Should the Nigerian economy get back to pre-Buhari, expect a massive exodus of Nigerians in the abroad back home. |

Gerrard59: Sir, it's called a student visa to study, not a work visa or resident visa. When students apply, they show proof that they can pay the tuition fee and cover living expenses, but many are dishonest about this aspect. Just like any country, Canada is facing its own economic challenges, especially since the pre-COVID era. To those coming to Canada, please please ensure you have your tuition fees and living expenses ready, or consider taking a loan. Relying on a 20-hour minimum wage job to pay your tuition and rent is a failing plan, especially since many of the cheap career colleges are no longer available. Know the truth and have peace of mind. You can try MPower loans or other options.nobody can gurantee u will get work and it will pay alll ur bills!! 3 Likes |

Gerrard59: What has happened over the last 2 years is overpopulation. They let in too many people that is now affecting the system. It is not that there is no job but the amount of students chasing the jobs are unprecedented. For example, before now, let's say the number of jobs available for students is 10 and students were 12 so only 2 students probably don't get jobs. Now there is still 10 jobs available for students but the number of students have increased from 12 to 36, you see the problem? It is the fault of the government to bring in too many people within a short time frame. They messed up big time and they are going to be wiped out in the next election. This is why they are now trying to correct the issue by reducing the numbers of people coming in and tightening the entire immigration system but it is too late. It's going to take another 2 years to bring the ratio of jobs to people at a balanced level. Having said that the students themselves are also to blame. The government can argue that they gave visa to students who demonstrated that they are financially capable to study without work. Every student who got a visa convinced the visa officer through their financial statements that they have the required POF so why are they not using it? The 20hr work a week was supposed to be jara to students and not for raising money to live in the country that is why you have to show the POF without considering money realized from potential working. Our resilience and CANDO spirit in Nigeria is both a blessing and a problem because it makes us overdo things. Because of what Nigeria has put us through we believe we can survive in any situation without realizing the peculiarities of different situations. There is no justification for someone not capable to go to another man's country as a student. A citizen can fall back on government benefits to stay afloat when kasala burst but a student is on their own after all you showed millions in your account before coming. Abroad is not for everyone. Nigeria is not smiling but if you don't have the financial strength to make a successful move then stay back and fight the government instead, especially when you are going on a visa that is not a PR. Right now, there is no longer a guarantee that students will get a work permit after graduation as they are now trying to link work permit to labor market. People should stop gambling, it could end up badly for them. 8 Likes 1 Share |

URGENT!!🚨 Please I need advise, I was offered an admission to both Calgary and Montreal. Now I'm very confused as to which to choose, hence I need people's opinion as another point of research. Although the course from Montreal is what I will enjoy the most, I don't want that to be the deciding factor. I would appreciate if anyone can shed more light as to which province I should go for and why, most especially if I'm thinking of residing permanently. Thank you so much and God bless🙏🏽🙏🏽. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by MarksmanD: 7:34pm On Oct 04 |
Go to Montreal. Learn French before you go. French speakers have better chances of getting PR than English speakers and the Quebec government launched a pilot program to give direct PR to some French speaking students who wants to live in French speaking communities in August. OllyM: |

Predator188:That is why I stated pre-Buhari, not Tinubu. Buhari destroyed the Nigerian economy. During GEJ's tenure, those in the abroad were returning to Nigeria. Threads were created on Nairaland discussing plans, Access Bank employed from the UK and had them sent to Nigeria for training and commencement of work, websites were created to discuss plans (wemoveback something) etc. In 2015. the majority believed that Buhari would phight kwarrutption. So, they voted against economic reforms in the name of a "reformed democrat". 1 Like |

House34:Everyone knows that migrants from the developing world use student visas as a means of domiciling in a country for a long time en route to naturalisation. So, we will be lying if we say we don't know what we are doing. How many international students from developing countries who studied in Canada returned immediately after their studies pre-Trudeau? 5 Likes |

OllyM: One will need to fully assess your profile and the admission you have to give a better answer. 1. What admissions have you secured? 2. What is your level of proficiency in English and French? Generally, Quebec is fighting to be more French-oriented. Avoid the province if you cannot speak or understand French and you are not ready to learn that with your course. The government of Quebec is increasingly making French mandatory for everything, including Instagram posts by businesses (Google it) and Québécois are loving this policy. |

OllyM: Québec graduates for the Québec Experience Program. Please note that as of November 23, 2024, in order to qualify for this program, you must: Have completed an eligible program of study in French, i.e., 75% of courses or credits have been completed in French; vocational and college training: 75% of program courses must be completed in French, University programs: 75% of program credits must be completed in French. Theses, Master’s dissertations, internships and research laboratories may be completed in a language other than French. However, the 75% threshold must be met for other courses or credits. Please note that courses taken abroad, as part of an exchange program for example, count towards the threshold. If you have not completed the qualifying program of study in French, you must have completed three years of full-time secondary or post-secondary studies in French in Québec or abroad. so it student from francophone country that will benefit from this route and all those student in thoes smart English university or college moving to Quebec will not be included ! |

Gerrard59: Now ask yourself what Canada's economic situation was under the pre-Trudeau government. Follow the conversation smartly based on students complaining about jobs, as over 13,000 students are now seeking asylum within 8 months mostly due to finance. The original discussion is centered around current economic issues in Canada as they affect students. It is just impossible to arrive with the mentality to work and pay over $15,000 in tuition fees, along with rent and other expenses, especially with only 20 hours allowed for work as a student, and securing jobs is not easy. Additionally, the path to permanent residency is much rougher now compared to before for students! 2 Likes |

IRCC PGWP Update for Study Permits application by Intl Students into Canadian Colleges submitted on or after November 1st 2024. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/after-graduation/eligibility/study-requirements.html#field-of-study The implications are these courses will be hot cake and competitive to seek admission in especially for International Students from November 1st 2024 and beyond. Bad news for other courses in Colleges that are not in this list and their lecturers or instructions. They will have to be discarded. 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Jeboy(m): 6:53pm On Oct 05 |
It will start with study permits approved on or after November 1st 2024. Canada is now subtly putting your destiny in your hands, infact they may not approve your study permit application as an Intl Student if it is nit linked to the labour list that is tagged long term shortage. So if you apply for a College course that is not in that list please cancel your application now. No let them go by mistake approve am. Lovebuddy: |

Hello house, I applied for study visa together with husband in 2018 and we are trying to applying again but this time with our daughter. But while filling the form, it asked if we have once given our biometrics in the past 10 years. We clicked yes, but it’s still asking if we want to give our biometrics again. What do we do here? Our daughter didn’t apply with us when we gave our biometrics in 2018 |

Hi fam, Good evening, all. I need your advice on a matter that's been on my mind. Between a diploma in youth & Childcare and early childhood education, which of these two has a high job prospect/PR in Canada or is in high demand? I am currently in my first year in early childhood education. And i am considering switching to youth & Childcare in my second year. My focus is one that I can get a quick full-time job and fast PR. What do you guys think? Kindly advise |

OllyM: If you plan to learn French rigorously before you arrive and your Quebec admission tuition fee is lower than Calgary, I will say go to Quebec. If you cannot learn French well and become immediate before you arrive and your Calgary tuition is lower, I would advise you go to Calgary. Studying in Canada is tough, combining that will compulsory language learning will make it harder. Wherever you go, you will have to write and pass one Language exam for PGWP. You might as well go to Calgary to make your life easier a bit since you already know English. You can learn French at your pace and go to Quebec later if you want to. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Kemie2022: 11:25pm On Oct 05 |
anderson4ib: Both have shortage of labor in Canada but they are slightly different. Early childhood is mostly safe as you will work in a normal daycare. Its shortage of labour is generally because the field does not pay well. It is usually minimum wage or slightly above that. So, most people don't want to go to college and earn the same wage with someone that do not attend college at all. Early childhood educators often open their own daycare after some time to get more money than working for someone. So, you will see many daycare (small or big; basement or facilities) with open positions hoping to find someone that don't mind the pay. Youth and Childcare occupy the gap between early childhood and full social work. It pays a little bit more but its labor shortage is generally because the work can be a little dangerous (I think). You may be dealing with trouble youths and children, working at homeless centers, or dealing with people with mental health challenges. There are few cases of stabbing and death in that area (Google it). With all these info, which one do you still prefer? Only you can truly answer that. 4 Likes |
