Please, I bought a honda CRV 03 Nigerian used. It was fine at first then it started consuming a lot of fuel recently.

On checking the codes, it gave - P0134 - O2 sensor circuit No activity detected (bank 1 sensor 1).
P1077 - Air manifold intake valve

I have tried fixing this with 2 different mechanics now to no avail. The O2 sensor in particular has been changed repeatedly without any solution.

Please help me

I use motorcraft oil which is the oil for ford car.
And i do my service every two months.
My mechanic was a novice to turbocharger problem so he messed up why trying to find why the smoke was heavy.
I don't mind the guy in warri coming to check

I doubt he'd come and check. You'd actually be the one to go to warri and let him diagnose the car.

Depend on how bad the overheating is.
What if the top cylinder is bad,
Just need to be inspected first before you can get a full cost.

My car, a Lexus ES 350 2010 model is due for service and the Mobil engine oil I normally use is unavailable in my location at the moment. Now, I am considering getting a different one (also Mobil) and wish to know if there's any disadvantages in changing/switching it.

I attached the images of both engine oils below. The first one is what I have been using since December 2023, and the second one is what I am considering.

Please I need honest opinions on this.

Thank you!

Also, is Dru23 a reliable vendor? Are is products genuine and shipped directly from the US as he claims?

My Bosses in the house.

Currently having a problem with my Avensis 2003. Started with the throttle not giving power that is commensurate to the push on it. And when am climbing a hill it begins to lose speed despite pushing the pedal down to the last while on flat ground it move. Sometimes, it reeves very high especially when I move it after parking under the sun. But after offing and restarting, it becomes normal again.

But recently, like after 3 months of driving since I noticed the stated problems above, throttle pedal doesn't respond at all. So I parked it, only to come the next day to pick it up where I parked and the car won't start after the electrician did all he could he left another came and scanned and the following codes came up

P0136
P0353
P0354
P2102
P2121

Finally, he got it to start but no response from the throttle pedal which was why I parked it.

He said he's taken the ECU for test as well as the pedal sensor and they turned out okay. Been 4 days now. Abeg, I don tire... I need solutions please. Thank you 🙏

I'm not the one to start this sort of Q n A in this thread. There're threads dedicated for oils and what not in car talk.dru23 also has threads for his importation, you can go ask him. This thread is purely gor car troubles to solve car troubles. Thanks.

I don't think there could possibly be a fixed cost attached to this. Every burnt head gasket issue has its own dynamics and cost for repairs may vary.

Thank u bro for ur concern.
It was later discovered that it was the oil in the exhaust pot that was the bringing the smoke but as of yesterday the smoke has stop.

So the problem really was the turbocharger.

Re: Tell Us Your Car Fault Lets Assess And Fix Them by Hybrid600: 6:36am On Oct 15
On the oil cover in the car engine, the manufacturer usually specifies the type of oil to use. Try looking at it to check If it's a 5w 20 or 5w 30...

Check the engine oil cover... Example below and for your car is 5w30.....

More thank likely the previous owner was not using the recommended oil. Using the recommended oil now might be waste of money and time....

From experience most Nigerian car owners don't like using the recommended oil either from pure ignorance or they can't afford it..

Start with a known good brand of 20w50 with API rating of SN.
At the next oil change, upgrade to 10W40 with API rating of SN

If there are no adverse changes (blue smoke, sorting oil etc), then you may upgrade to any known good brand of 5w30 oil with an API rating of SN.
It must not be synthetic oil. Your engine does just fine on mineral oil.

With this T pain economy right now . Full synthetic oil might be the best way to go . with mineral you have to change every 3k miles and also factor in the cost of labour it will cost to change the oil......

If you can find a good full synthetic oil at a reasonable price . You can change your oil double the mineral oil. So roughly you can do 7k to 10k miles instead of the 3k miles of mineral oil.

Since am in the engine oil .. I can tell you that a Mobil 1 Nigeria pic (1) goes for 71500k in Lagos and 75k outside Lagos . now compare it with cost of mineral oil... You than compare my price pic (2) of 64500k ......

As the economy is biting hard on everyone we have to look for ways to save money.. If you look hard enough you can get things a little cheaper....

My last trip to Lagos few months ago. I was busy eating out spending 10k per day on food . until somebody recommended cravings and more restaurant .. I was now getting more food and spending around 6k on food ..

My point is people need to sit down and look for ways to save money. If you look hard enough you go find ways to save without compromising quality

Fuel Guage not reading, light always on

Na to change fuel pump be dat... If you are always refilling your tank when the fuel lights comes on. You are damaging your fuel pump.......

When fuel gets to the empty gauge . Your fuel pump has no fuel to pump up except for air and dirty particle in the tank.. It is now putting more pressure on the fuel pump.........

I have a Honda accord 06 which does not rev pass 3. It jerks each time it gets to 3. Consumes lots of fuel with black smoke from the exhaust. I have taken the car to a technician and he serviced the injectors and changed spark plugs. Still the same issue. What could be the problem?
