What level are you and are teaching primary or secondary school. Which local govt. you are?

Good day everyone

I just want to pour out my mind about series of events that got me worried lately, I have a friend who happens to be a bachelor (I am married though) so on Sundays he will always invite me to his house to come and play game and have some drinks with our other friends too.

But lately I noticed something about his neighbour who happens to be a private school teacher, though I have been noticing it on a steady and I didn't know others were observing it too till something happened on Sunday and everyone voiced out.

On getting to my friends house last week Sunday, I observed that his neighbours wife and 2 children were outside, I greeted them and entered. After like 2 hours we wanted to go and watch match I realized the 4 of them are now outside with the husband, normally as per say we discuss football together so I asked if he misplaced the keys and he told me the landlord staying in d same compound locked the door cos they were oweing 5 months house rent.

I felt bad for them so me and my guys with him went to beg the landlord and the man made it clear that he has tried enough that because we came to beg he will give them the grace of 3 months to sort the bills or else he will lock it again and the only time he will open it is when they agree they are packing that very minute.

The landlord reluctantly gave us the key as witness, so we called the man in and discussed how he will make the payment, the man made it clear he's stranded, he said he collects 40k as salary and 15k for extra lesson every month and his wife collects 20k as salary but they use his wife's salary to sort the children school fees.

Many atimes I observe anytime we want to buy something from the landlady shop in front of the house, this guy comes to buy something but will always tell the woman I will sort u but since it doesn't concern me I lock up but the one of last week Sunday touched me.

I am not here to seek for funds for anyone but to implore us reading this to stretch an helping hands to private school teachers around us, those people are going through hell and they can't beg.

The man told me he stopped job hunting with the little 55k because it affect the family a lot anytime he travels for interviews

To tech savvy guys here, please which online course do u think that guy can learn that doesn't involve money because I intend to be giving him 5gig per week and we intend to get him laptop too but what online course can he be doing with ordinary android phone for now pending the time he will get a laptop?

If He is really good at His job, He should try offering private lessons around his neighbourhood or online so he doesn’t have to spend much travelling to different locations.

In the meantime he can ask for a raise or look for Work in a better paying school. Even my cleaner that only has school very , earns more than 55k.

Tinubulation is real... Satan will soon visit Tinubu and his minions for the untold hardship they've caused the masses! The visit is not for drinks but for payment in the same coins they've been paying the masses!

Because our God is love

Stop blaming Tinubu. Buhari bankrupted the economy. Buhari borrowed too much money. Over 90% of government revenue was going to servicing debt.

The CBN was owing buyers of foreign exchange $7bn. There was barely $3bn net in the foreign reserves. This could barely cover 1 month worth of imports, unlike the required 4 months minimum.

Tinubu is trying to fix the rot. It will take time.

Between God and Man, I'm a private school teacher and this is my exact story. I am even homeless right now. The difference between my story and this one is that I'm still single and my salary isn't up to 50k. My landlord evicted me last month. I'm squatting with my friend whose girlfriend is around and my friend has given me till tommorow to pack outta his house. It's so painful for all young private sch teachers. We can't even feed. We are the most affected of this Economic turmoil.

Pls if anyone can Help me with something to buy foodstuffs, I will be glad. The mockery is now unbearable. I'm always running into debts all the time. It is now a curse to be a private school teacher

Today is even my birthday but I'm sad. I'm so sad. I now discovered that Shelter is more important than food honestly.
Someone should help with anything they can so I can buy little foodstuffs pls πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Your story is all over the place. Straighten it

You are a school teacher? Or a student? And whether you are both, you are earning 50k and go give person belle?

Teaching jobs in private schools used to be cool until APC came into power.
Speaking from experience.
Today, the amount paid is not enough.
Most teachers are owing, borrowing from others and loan apps to survive. No savings.
People who live in their own house or house where they don't pay rent are enjoying right now.

Teaching in private school has never been good for the majority! As a 21yrs old fresh graduate I tried teaching and ran! This was 24yrs ago!! The pay was poor. They were looking for every means to deduct from it as penalty for something. The asslicking was crazy. I lasted only a week as a young lady with a future and overdose of self-esteem. In 2024, I wonder how teachers are doing it.

So how far with house rent? Have you people sorted it? How much is it?

If you people have not sorted it, kindly add it to list of things you want people to help him with. Good people on here will take care of it once they verify your story to be true.

The problem be say I don't even know when you are trolling.πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Food, clothing, and shelter are the basic necessities a man needs to survive. Unless he can sleep with both eyes closed, he won't have the peace of mind to focus on learning or anything elseβ€”I’ve been there.

Once the burden of rent is off his shoulders, he’ll be able to think clearly; otherwise, it’s just a waste of time.

So, talk to him and gather evidence that you’re not caping, then work on sourcing funds for him. You may not get everything, but even a little will go a long way."

This is true though.

Why would a family man be working as a private school teacher??

Private school teaching is for married women whom their husbands don't want them to work far away from home and also have time for their family; or young people who just finished NYSC without a job for the main time.

If as a married man you are doing private school teaching, na hunger go kpai you, except na you get the school.

We know parents don't pay good enough school fees for these schools to pay you like government.

It's not too late to learn a skill or trade

Op prayers is unnecessary as you and generations will surely reap this seed of good you are sowing into this family.

As someone said, you and your guys should do something to help his immediate situation so he can have a clear mind to learn a skill.
Stock his house with foodstuff and pay like 6 months rent.

Also, don't assume he will do well in digital skills. Talk to him to know what he likes or has aptitude to grasp.

The guy's back is against the wall now. He needs cash flow ... now ...and consistently. A problem many of us have is we become complacent in our job and do not use it to pull ourselves upon the ladder but instead remain comfortable on the same rung. Even if we recognize we're stuck and suffering we do nothing but wail and beg. With the qualifications and experience this teacher has he should be able to use the school as a supplier and ....like someone suggested earlier .... target the richer students ... get them into his lessons. Let them bring along their rich friends ...give them a few free lessons ... allow their parents to see improvement in their performance ... then you bring the free classes to an end. Which parent will not want to now pay? That's when you hit them over the head with "new comers " fee. That's without changing career . A greater stumbling block is pride. Fry plantains will sell .... cheap and affordable.... he may know so ....even supplying stuff for the landlady to sell in her shop ... he may know this ...but pride will not allow it to happen.
