How did awoniyi get an invite over dessers? Awoniyi who can’t get playing time over old man Wood in Nothingham Forest. How can a grandpa be benching you a 27 year old striker? Chuba Akpom, Cyril Dessers and Josh Maja are doing better than Taiwo Awoniyi. Awoniyi has not had a good game for the Super Eagles before; he is not even playing for his club. Other serious countries invite players base on their current forms but this figure head coach is inviting the likes of taminu who is yet to break into a 3rd division team. SMH 5 Likes 1 Share

Joezinho: Football don’t work that way my guy. Let those guys come to the best league in the world, performs and we can rate them ahead of awoniyi. If awoniyi were playing in a backwater league, he will be banging goals 4 Likes |

Goke7: What is unfair is someone who has been outstandingly consistent with top level performances in a higher league and team. Not been given a chance to show how good he is. |

Mujtahida:yes, because I remember how panicky I was when Uzoho came in for Nwabali against Angola, he still didn't help his case when he hoffed his goal kick straight to the sidelines afterwards. Man! We need a solid backup. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

komekn:He’s not a newbie in the national team, he’s had his chances and cannot be experimented with a competitive game, may be in friendlies then yes. Your reason of a higher league to displace a keeper who has been consistent for the team is mischievous and reeks of bigotry 3 Likes |

EEGA: Why leave out Onyedika for Ndidi? Play Onyedika and let Aina invert to midfield for ease build up play and give Iwobi room to go forward to support the attack. |

Joezinho:Yes I agreed Awoniyi does not deserve to be on the list…..but you are too harsh on him regarding Chris Wood.Awo went out last season twice to injury and even failed to play any pre season.Chris Wood step in and is delivering. The same Awoniyi saved Nottingham from relegation 22/23 ….easy bro….a fit Awo is better than Dessers,Akpom and Maja going by what he displayed against Arsenal,Chelsea,Liverpool and Man United in EPL. Awo has not had a good game for eagles?ii remember he had a good game against Egypt in Afcon 2022. 2 Likes |

Kog45: Egbon, I understand your view but we are talking about this season. How many goals has Awoniyi scored this season? You said a “fit awoniyi”. So why is an unfit Awoniyi in the SE over the likes of dessers that have been banging goals this season? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Kog45(m): 7:16am On Oct 10 |
Joezinho:My point is simple Joe man….Awo not starting in Forest is due to a terrible injury he suffered….unfit Awo over Dessers?Eguavoen should answer that….mind you I would rather have George or Tolu over Awo than Dessers in the list. 1 Like 1 Share |
