My husband was wowed by what he saw today.
He was like 😯... When did you know how to knit?
Who taught you how to do this?πŸ˜„
Do you know this skill can fetch you money?

I replied;

I knew how to knit in JSS 2; i.e September 2005.

No one taught me, I watched my classmates handled the knitting pin and decided to practice it myself.

Yes I know, I used it to earn some money after secondary school.

December makes us 2 years together and my husband never knew I could knit.πŸ˜„
What amazed him most was my knitting speed.

I asked him, can you also knit?
He replied, No
He also said, watching me knit makes him confused on how to go about it πŸ˜„

I knitted two baby caps for our unborn baby.

Chaii! How time flies, can’t even remember what happened in 2002πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

If you have to turn it into a business venture, don't fix the price arbitrarily. Set the price base on the production cost and the profit you want to make. This will help you arrive at a competitive price which will encourage patronage.

He already gave the caps price tagsπŸ˜„

He said, this should cost 5000 Naira each

Aren't these caps the custest things you've seen today?

They are beautiful. Find out the price of knitted baby caps, compare with your cost of production and time spent making each. Then price yours competitively.

I will suggest you reduce the size. Most newborn caps are a struggle. Illfitting and always falling off. Thankfully yours comes with a rope, but since it stretches, it can be smaller.

Locate a primary health care center in your neighbourhood and go there on antenatal and immunization days with your caps. Those women buy everything when they are pregnant.

Dope. That hat would cost 5 pounds if it were in the UK.

Knit about 10. Put in a sealed transparent bag. Open an tiktok account. And sell each pack of 10 for 29.99.

And add as many followers as you can.

You'd be earning 66k per pack. And charging shipping according to location. You can use the DHL pay-later option where the parcel owner pays at the DHL location near them to pick up.

If you sell 10 packs, 660k. If you sell (at worst) 50 packs in a yr, that's 3.3m+ off your side hustle.

Colors: Pink, Sky Blue, Beige, Light Brown, Brown, Red, Cream etc.

You could also opt for 5 pack but price that at 14.99.

this your tradition hand work or call it oyinbo skill
is better than a graduate certificate that turns you into a waka about in the Nigerian street looking for un-existing job

you need to get a hand work with any certificate you have now..

My response was, any good business that'll fetch me more money, I'll gladly do it oπŸ˜„

He asked, are you sure it isn't stressful for you?

I replied, it's actually the best way to ease stress.
Knitting takes your mind off worry, makes you focused on the next line or next turn, hoping to see how beautiful your piece will turn out to be.

Sure they are beautiful...
But lemme get something straight my face on my mirror is the cutest thing I've seen today...

I do this too. I learned mine in JSS2 as well! I think it's called crocheting. Knitting, I believe, is done with two poles. I've made some stuff in the years that follow. I got four colours of wool sometime last year, started something but never completed it. πŸ˜ƒ I think I should return to it again.

Beautiful caps for Baby(ies) o, well done ma. cheesy

If you were abroad, you could create a website to market these things and make cool cash. Here in Nigeria, no one really cares about these things. Do you know that this is even enough skill to sustain you abroad? Sadly, it's more or less useless here. All the best to you dear.
