galserv: Show me one minimum wage worker earning 70k, not to talk of 110k. The minimum wage of 30k, how many people are earning it? Only 10m Nigerians (5% of 200m) have up to 500k in their accounts. You work in a major industry, thank God. How many Nigerians have that kind of testimony? Privilege blinds indeed. What you don't know is a security person here has better quality of life, better prospects, and better living conditions than most "rich" people in Nigeria. That security person earns a decent living wage, can conveniently feed, pay for rent and other utilities. His job is respected. etc etc galserv: Again, how many people can afford rent in Nigeria? That having a car will send you into bankruptcy is a big lie. You pay car tax, insurance and other small bills which anyone that can buy a car should be able to afford. Again, if you do not have a car in this country, no problem. Buses are working and are always on time. Comfortable seats, amenities for the disabled (how many buses in Nigeria have amenities for the disabled). For parking, you only pay parking fines when you park where you aren't supposed to park (another benefit of a working society. The law works). In Lagos, agbero will charge you for driving and charge you for parking. No agberos here. Train works. Air fares are cheap. I flew from London to Germany for just 28 pounds. Two hours pay. How many people can afford flight tickets within Nigeria, not to talk of outside Nigeria? galserv: You think fuel is expensive because you are looking at it with the Nigerian mindset. The average price for petrol is 140p/liter. That means that if I work for ONE HOUR in the UK, on the average, I should be able to afford at least 7 litres of fuel. How many hours does the average Nigerian driver have to work to afford that amount of fuel? Again, here, no fuel scarcity, no fuel queues. Here, you only buy fuel for your car. In Nigeria, you buy fuel for EVERYTHING. galserv:First, you need to understand how this society works. UK is a credit-based society. That means that YOU HAVE TO buy things on credit and pay back to build your credit score. Because of that, a security guard can afford to buy a house, a car, go on vacation etc. Of course, people are greedy and overdo it, does not mean it is bad. Imagine a random security man working for Chicken Republic has systems put in place to help him afford the good things of life. That is what a credit-based system does. Secondly, not all debts are bad. Even Dangote has debts. You do not have a solid financial brain if you cannot put debt into good use. galserv: And that's okay. People are living well in Nigeria. People are broke in Nigeria. People are living well in the UK. People are broke in the UK too. However, we need to put things in the proper perspective. The average security man in the UK: - Can conveniently feed - Can buy a brand new car with credit - Can buy a house with credit - Can afford to go on vacations in other countries. With a UK visa alone, you can visit at least about 7 European countries visa-free. Morocco is e-visa. Come here and see how people are visiting Schengen countries like say an water. How many "rich" Nigerians can afford that? - Can buy high-quality fashion - Has access to excellent infrastructure. - NHS. People keep complaining of bills and tax. However, the tax works. Good roads, good amenities, welfare programs for the poor, disabled and elderly, security is great, infrastructure is superb. I had kidney stones, I was rushed to the hospital. I got to do lab tests and CT Scan, all for free. Tell me why I won't happily pay my taxes? In Nigeria, you will be lucky to have a CT Scan machine in your hospital, despite the fact that you pay tax. I have lived in Nigeria (I was not poor) and currently living in the UK. I will pick the UK a billion times over. 1 Like |

diamond68: I never schooled in OAU.. Whats the big deal. If the students protest then its up to them. The 34m is not an issue but remember that it opens ur way to all types of job in this country. Meaning that u could work and make that money under 1 year after school You should understand that we are leaving through education which looks like the only door to a sane environment. Also note that we are leaving because of the disastrous policies of Buhari and Tinubu. If u are enjoying Nigeria then its up to u. As for me i am not |

ClitRaider: Whats 10 million? That's just 4500 pounds. School fees ia between 12k or 15k pounds upwards Then u have to show 10k pounds living expenses. Then about 1500 or above for visa fee and health insurance |

fastseo: All these, and for what? To end up getting only menial jobs. They keep taking and taking, and giving you guys little in return. You can only get "certain jobs" that their people wouldn't want. It's annoying, honestly! I ask again, is it worth it? For all that you spent, has it been worth it so far? Answer honestly. |

diamond68: You know the worst part? All that money was made in Nigeria. They would rather give it to the white man, than invest it back into the same economy they earned it from. diamond68: You're suffering, but don't know it kind of suffering. |

Mariangeles: In Nigeria u all want to sit in offices and snore while they pay u. Even the university degree... The white don't fancy it the way every tom and dick wants it in Nigeria. Rather they go for apprenticeship to gain thr skills. Here is what u can do with ur hands. If u are lazy then hunger will kee u. |

Mariangeles:in fact Ehn Nne you have said it all. All that money made in Nigeria just to dash white man and get nothing back in return but permission to clean oyinbo yanch. No be juju be dat Nne ? ๐๐. You see that hamster wheel ? Itโs this very fast spinning wheel and they throw you into it and you have to keep running fast inside the wheel if you want to survive. The moment you stop running you are flung aside and crushed . Thatโs the west. Too many bills coming at you and heavy taxation so just for existing alone you have about 2000 pounds a month to give the system and you MUST give it to the system unless you just want to be a homeless vagrant. That is the hamster wheel. You have to keep running upanda to look for that 2000 pounds every month if you donโt want to be crushed and tossed aside. Itโs high pressure environment. No relaxing. 1 Like 1 Share |

Mariangeles: To end up getting menial jobs is a statement I have a big problem with. In the UK here, there are Nigerians working in EVERY sector. The civil service, the banks, the NHS, and all other big companies. I have seen more white cleaners than black cleaners. British citizens work all kinds of jobs here too..cleaners, waste packers, drivers, security, dispatch riders, name it. A Nigerian, Kemi Badenoch, is on her way to becoming the leader of the Conservative Party. Forget it, Nigerians are excelling everywhere, getting jobs, buying houses, doing great. Are all Nigerians enjoying, no. The same way we have poor, struggling citizens too. Are all Nigerians struggling, also no. Is the UK perfect, absolutely no. Is the UK better than Nigeria, absolutely YES!! Being successful here is not automatic, as it is same everywhere. But the good thing about this place is: 1. There is reward for labour. 2. There is value for money, value for life, value for integrity. 3. Rules work. You cannot just break the law. And if you feel anyone has trampled on your rights, you can sue them and expect to win if they are guilty, no matter how rich or powerful they are. 4. No one looks down on your profession 5. If you are hardworking, and your head is correct, you will make it 6. More opportunities are available here. I lived in Nigeria for many many years, I never had the opportunity to travel out of the country. In less than a year here, I have been to 5 other countries. It will be six in next month. All in less than a year 7. More options for your children. If you remain steadfast, you get ILR or become a citizen, your children automatically become dual-nationals. Again, everything is not rosy. It is not an automatic bed of roses. You have to work hard and ensure your head is correct. You might also have to start small and with time, grow. 2 Likes 1 Share |
