My Father's Dividend After 11years Of Investing In Transcorp Shares by NetbizBoss: 3:23am On Oct 16 |
Please I need advice from people that knows about shares. My Dad bought about 1050 units of Transcorp share in 2013. He lost the certificate so he forget about the shares. Until the second quarter of this year when someone told us about this link to apply for unclaimed dividends. https://sec.gov.ng/non-mandated/ My Dad was sick and hospitalized so we help him filled the form online and he signed his signature. After much suffering the share register "African Prudential PLC" finally paid The following amount into my father's account as the share Dividends per year 2013-N45 (Forty five Naira only) 2014-N54 (Fifty four Naira only) 2015 and 2016 where omitted 2017- N18.9 2018- N28.35 2019- N9.45 2020- N9.45 2021- N18. 9 2022- N47. 25 2023-N94.5 2024- N10. 5 Please Mode help me post this thing on front page to get advise from people. Thank you. 21 Likes 4 Shares

He didn't buy much shares to begin with, considering the price then in 2013 was just N1.65 per share (from a quick Google search) resulting in a total of N1732.5 for his 1050 shares. That seemed like a trial purchase rather than a solid investment for the future. If he had put that money into crypto then I'm sure the return on investment would be in millions by now. 125 Likes 9 Shares |

Not good enough...if u see the way Herbert of blessed memory and Tony and his wife buys shares you will realise they buy in billions which is on the High side, but I advise you start from hundreds of thousand of shares to millions of shares. Cos most nigerian companies dividend are in kobos/shares so you need a lot of shares to get something tangible. With the level of inflation it might be worth less for now but when n9geria starts working it will be worth a fortune... 55 Likes 2 Shares |

NetbizBoss: The worth of the shares is ₦11,602 at the current price of ₦11.05 per share. What you see is what you get. BuyMeLand: At the time of purchase, share price was less than ₦2. The investment is too little to make a noticeable difference. 40 Likes 7 Shares

Let's assume in 2009, someone purchased 2,000,000 shares at the rate of N2. This will be a total of N4M invested. In 2024 which is 15 years later, the shares is currently at N11. 2,000,000 share = N22M + those petty dividends they paid. Looks like a good investment. Let's look at what who held dollar would have made just by putting N4M into dollars in 2009 when dollar was $150. 4,000,00 ÷ 150 = $26,666 In 2024, $1 = 1650 $26,666 x 1650 = N43, 998,900 (that's roughly twice the amount from shares in that company) What about who gambled on BTC? In 2009 bitcoin was $0.10 Just $1,000 would have given you 10,000BTC In 2024, 10,000BTC = $672,344,400. Only if we can see the future 165 Likes 15 Shares |

Investment in shares is not set, forget and wake up a millionaire. He bought small units and was not even topping up to increase the units. Consider the amount he used in purchasing those shares vis-a-vis the current worth of those units while factoring in inflation. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

Your dividend earnings depends on how much stock you purchased and the class of shares you hold. You can't buy 10,000 to 100,000 ordinary shares and expect to earn a substantial income in dividends. spinna: 6 Likes |

Nigerian shares are for quick sell and so...waiting for years thinking it will amount to anything good is tomfoolery, unlike American stocks. If Papa had changed the money to dollars and left it there in bank sef, he will be in good profits today than the stock. Naira wey dey lose value like pure water. na wa. 9 Likes |

Buying and holding Nigerian stocks and shares is an exercise in futility and a waste of time. You will do better to buy USD /GBP Foat & Hold. 2 Likes 1 Share |
