Who would have guessed it. Just when SAF relents in his stubbornness and starts starting Ando, he promptly picks up an injury. With his previous antecedence, he won't return for a while. Why we weren't playing him when he was fit and on form I don't know. Now SAF will have the chance to play Scholes and Giggs to his hearts content.

gutted for anderson....he murdered reading when he was on the pitch!
i just hope his injury is a precaution or at worst, hamstring cos he was really buzzing when he was on!

the defence is a joke - fergie's choice can be rëtarded sometimes. one of smalling/jones should have started as a centre back. evans/rio are very superb with ball on the ground but very timid with aerial incursions. none of them takes responsibility to deal with crosses and reading has capitalised on that weakness!

van persie should have directed his shot away from the defender - hitting the back of the net. he just allowed a legit goal to be disallowed. ashley young - what a player! he has helped defensively n offensively. his assist for anderson was class. his flick for evra to assist rooney was another brilliant football!

we need to win this game 7-3...

U cnt blame VP 4 his ball directn. He jus hit a rebound. Gud we got d 3pts. I waz surprisd Fletcher play 90mins cos he waz poor while Carrick was excelent n wen Ando left it showd. I tink he'll b 5n cos i hrd it's bak pain.

what about the van persie miss? isn't that as bad as nando's miss last season? we create thousands of chances per game and we don't take them! i am disappointed with van persie today - he should have had a hatrick!

We have got massive defensive problems. I can see a lot of United fans believe that once Vidic is back we will be okay, but I believe that is at worst a pipe dream or at best an over simplification. Vidic played in our 1st few games when DDG was the only reason we weren't shellacked at Goodison park, let in soft goals against Fulham, before being greatly exposed by Southampton despite winning. There just seems to be something lacking in our defending as whole. Be it on the counterattack, open play, crosses or set pieces we are poor. Its hard to isolate one player or aspect as the problem, its almost as if Phelan, Muelsteen aren't bothering with practicing or teaching defensive technique. We aren't going to win anything with this defence, unless we score every quality chance we get.

it's the team selection - the team manager is a twit!

everyone knows how reading would play before this game - they put in loads of crosses and their set pieces are top drawer but fergie's senility kicked in again. smalling and jones should have started in the defence - by doing that, you have 2 enforcers who won't shy away from attacking the aerial ball and you would also have one less midget in the defence.

evans and rio are only good with the ball in their feet - they can only play against technical teams like arsenal, city, swansea, etc. against the lump it in the air team, we tend to struggle with evans and rio - they are horribly timid! they are only good at mopping up....the defending was atrocious but thank feck we have the scariest attacking unit in europe!

Ando out with a hamstring injury. I don't believe the lad has ever been fit in December at any point in his United career. Scholes and Giggs to start now. Can't contain my excitement.

hamstring is not bad - he should be back for the heavy christmas schedule! against city, we have at our disposal - valencia, young, cleverley, fletcher, carrick, jones in the midfield. it's not so bad - we should go with carrick and cleverley as sitters, young and valencia on the wing....rooney playing off van persie. the back five: de gea, rafael, evans smalling and evra!

I don't think Valencia will be ready and also I think we leave Lindegard in place. No need to unsettle the defence by changing keepers for the derby.

montelik: I don't think Valencia will be ready and also I think we leave Lindegard in place. No need to unsettle the defence by changing keepers for the derby.

that idiotic lindegaard?
the reason i have not mentioned him yet is because ruudie is not here. lindegaard is a disgrace and was responsible for 2 of their goals. he should be coming out to punch at the corner kicks. he did not make one outstanding save today - this is where de gea excels! at least one of those 3 goals would have been saved by de gea.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 9:39pm On Dec 01, 2012
Regardless we need to stop the chopping and changing in goal, be it Lindegard for DDG or vice versa. Leave him there for the next few games and then slowly reintroduce DDG. Its unfair to drop Lindegard when he hasn't played badly since he was handed the gloves, even if he could have done better in certain situations today and other games. Then tossing DDG in to start in an away derby and top of the table clash after be dropped is unnecessarily drastic.

he hasn't played badly? are you shitting me?
lindegaard couldn't come out and punch out 2 corners scored in his 6 yard-box and you said he hasn't played badly? are you aware lindegaard gets to play because de gea is poorer at handling crosses? if lindegaard now shows the same weakness as de gea in handling crosses, why the heck is he special? de gea is far better as a shot stopper, positioning, movement, distribution, agility and reflexes!

I missed the match but I've seen the goals. By all accounts our defending was very poor again. I still put that down to our poor defensive midfield cover as has shown for a while now. Admittedly the defence itself could do with some fine tuning and stability. Also Ddg needs to be the number one, the chopping and changing must stop. Ddg vs al performance this season, Ddg has been far better.

I do fear city can and should put 6 past us again. embarassed

poor defensive midfield is the reason we cannot defend corner kicks? by all means, fletcher and carrick performed very well today. anderson beasted it until his injury....the centre halves(rio and evans)and lindegaard were only the tools today

This we know coogs.
What bothers us is why this player can't stay fit over the course of a season. You can't blame fergie for not building his midfield around Ando, he simply cannot go injury free for a run of games.
The same thing that happened last season that denied us of the chance to see him come into his own in our midfield may just have happened again.

but did fergie play him when he was fit?
had anderson played against spurs/norwich, we would have been 9 points clear by now! enough gap to cushion his absence away from the team.

DDG has been warming the bench for a month, it doesn't help consistency to throw him into a top of the table derby game. Lindegard will do fine.

lindegaard conceded 3 goals against a bottom side - he would ship 8 goals against city! a goalie that cannot come out and punch the ball in his 6 yards is not a goalie. lindegaard is shyte.....de gea would get some minutes in the midweek and prep him for the manchester derby on sunday! lindegaard should go back to his fatherland and do some farming

Now how would you know that?
Fergie did give him that ever elusive start against Reading in preparation for possibly our biggest game of the season and you can see how that has panned out.
Anderson is made of glass and cannot be relied upon to carry this united team.
What if fergie played him against Spurs and he ended up sidelined for the rest of the season.

What ifs, speculations and permutations.
If the dude is fit, play him. . . .he gives returns.
If Vidic was fit, what will you do? Keep him on the bench cos you are scared he will get crocked again?
Injuries is the downside of the game. You deal with it when it comes. If a player deliver's the goods when he is fit,
by all means, milk him dry. When he's crocked you won't have any regrets. Abi anderson na silverware to be displayed?

So by your logic, we should start RVP tomorrow night cause we are trying to 'milk him dry' not minding playing the next four weeks without him?
We all knew Ando was going to pick up his injury as soon as he started playing regularly so any game he played was always going to be a risk.
Beside you said he 'gives returns' with an arrogance that would suggest Ando is on par with Messi in terms of consistency.
He's merely our best midfielder and nothing special! I wouldn't be confident he'll do so well against Shitty anyway.

By my logic, i also know that the game against Spurs has more at stake than a dead UCL game.
That should be your first thought mate. We are in the last 16 of the UCL. Hence, it's a game for the youth side to get a run in
Compare that to the Spurs game where u are struggling to get as much point from the EPL as possible. . . Spot the difference.

So you are now a soothsayer to know when Ando get's crocked? Because you know that, you would have told Fergie games in which to leave
him on the bench not so? The best a fit Anderson can do for us is to play and play well. So far, he's been doing that.

And yet you support benching your best midfielder? even when you know the available can't execute the match comfortably?
