5W-30 if engine is sludge free and does not burn oil.

The one I'm trying to get, the mechanic who was accessing the car for me said the car is very OK but the radiator has been changed and the catalyst has also been removed but I should go on to buy the vehicle.
So I want to ask before I make peyment if it's a wise decision.

PS - The mechanic went with a scanner.

Guys, I have finally joined the Honda club. I purchased my first Honda civic 2007 car last week. But I have an observation. The VIN number, even on the custom papers displays that the car is hybrid. (made in Japan). imported to Naija- Tincan Island. But I used my small obd tool scanner today, to scan the car and I discovered that the VIN number is different from what is in the papers. when i checked the VIN online, it displays honda civic 2009. Why the discrepancy? Also I got one error code that displays thrice. Fuel economy not impressive to me. But let me fix the error code and observe the mpg

This your VIN case is somehow..

Firstly, check the vehicle badge at the driver side door or the based of the driver side windshield, check the VIN that you have there if it corresponds with what you have on your car papers.

Let's take it up from there first.

Vehicle licenses registration these days are something else, the way people cut corners and put unsuspecting car owners into trouble is very alarming.

As for the code you have in the scanner, kindly check your engine coolant temperature sensor to ascertain its still in good working condition.

5w20.. since u buy am naija use . It is more than likely it's been abused and no point using the recommended 5w20. Use Mobil mineral oil 20w50 and change every 3k Miles....

If this is the case, then I guess your OBD scanner is showing wrong details.

Try scan with another OBD scanner and see if it brings out the same VIN.

This is compatible with all cars 35k . Most coolant in the market now is basically colored water.....


And if you can't afford it . try using the water that drips from the a/c of your home. At least this is better than using ordinary water.... But coolant should be your number 1 choice

Demineralized water (water from your AC) is going to rust out your radiator and engine.
Normal tap water (mostly hard water) will cause deposits in your radiator and engine.
So choose your poison.

We had this topic few years ago. And someone recommended using distilled water from your home ac system.

This is a lot better than using tap water that has a lot of dirt and particles that will clog the your radiator. Distilled water will not do that. Distilled water will kill your engine slowly and surely...

But overall original coolant has always been the best choice regardless of the weather conditions your car operates. I am sure over 80% of Nigerian cars on the road uses water. That is why you see cars on the road overheating.

Like William Shakespeare says to be or not to be . That should be the question. Or better in this case to use tap water , distilled water, coolant .

Tap water.... Using tap water as form of coolant will kill you engine. And your mechanic will know your by first names bases. You and your car will become best friends with the mechanic.. And rust plus corrosion will be the order of the Day. Na to dey buy radiator, water pump or double cell radiator every now and than...


Distilled water......using distilled water instead of coolant. Will basically offers a little better protection than tap water

Coolant/antifreeze........This is the best choice for your engine and radiator. The coolant operates at temperature that will help prevent over heating of engine.

It will not cause your radiator to rust like tapwater or distilled water. And you won't have to worry about corrosion. And coolant can give you at least 3years of engine protection. Some car owners that bought tokunbo cars years ago are still using the coolant that came with the car

And plus our Nigerian mechanic will tell you that you don't need coolant for your car o. Coolant and thermostat is for abroad weather 😭😭. If I decided to import 40ft container of radiator today . Before my container land Lagos ladipo buyers full ground. Before it reach self it would have sold.. some parts seller in ladipo only deal with radiator...


So choose your poison carefully..

The best for for someone to buy brand new car or very good tokunbo. If not, there's no way one won't befriend mechanics. No wonder you see mechanics scattered all over the place.

You recommend car user to get thermostat and fan connection to factory but no brand new thermostat out there, engine sef don worn out, radiator don old, you hardly see original coolant. The one wey dey original dey very expensive.

So for your car to be very correct, be ready to spend fortunes . And how many people get the fortune for these t pain naija. God abeg o. Na brand new car I wan buy next fah.

But getting the grade A tokunbo cost huge money now. I pity anyone going for naija used vehicles at these period. No one will sell his car if it's not given him issues.

I beg to differ.. There are still people out there who still sell their Naija used cars in very perfect working condition, I've seen a couple of them. But the ratio compared to terrible car sellers are like 2% to 98%.

I plan on selling my car next year to upgrade and I already have two people from my office that are on standby to buy it just because they know my maintenance culture and how I don't compromise with fixing my vehicle.

Just carry out due diligence, know the vehicle history if you can, ensure you check, re-scan, over check, analyze and finally check again before you part with your money for any Naija used vehicles 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

My honda accord 07 shows error code P0135 02 sensor heater circuit bank 1 sensor 1 as the only code.
Please can anyone recommend a solid rewire to help fix in lagos as i have changed the sensor twice but code remains.
