I have a Honda accord 06 which does not rev pass 3. It jerks each time it gets to 3. Consumes lots of fuel with black smoke from the exhaust. I have taken the car to a technician and he serviced the injectors and changed spark plugs. Still the same issue. What could be the problem?

Scan the car first.

I guess it's your maf sensor( what our kazeems called airflometer) but scan the car to be sure.

I recommend every car user get a Bluetooth scanner it's a life safer and also very cheap

Another challenge: I haven't installed thermostat. Won't the heat pressure too much for the single cell radiator I got? I dey fear overheating o
noted boss, I have installed the thermostat. I'm keeping my fingers crossed
Re: The HONDA Club by Bola4boy(m): 11:59am On Oct 18
When I told the mechanic to installed thermostat, they were just looking at like like I'm crazy. Begin ask me different questions.

I just said, oga put thermostat and leave stories.

Does that mean 60% of Nigerian cars no get thermostat?

Boss this issue is a serious issue if not taken seriously now. I'll advice you stop driving that car around for now until you get the issue fixed.

Please scan the car and post the codes here so that the elders in this forum can help and guide you right.

I had once had a similar issue after buying fuel from one yeye filling station. Good thing was that I had my scanner always in my glovebox. I scanned and it showed my knock sensor, EGR and MAF got damaged together. I ended up changing every damaged component and car came back alive.

Honestly those kazeems are a menace out there.. One even told me that the thermostat will cause overheating, meanwhile he was not even the person working on my car, he's just a passerby in the market.

Hi guys! Good evening.
Small problem with my Honda Accord 03
The power window button on the driver doesn't roll up or down the rear windows, but it rolls up & down the driver and passenger side.
However, all of the buttons are functional, I can roll up or down the windows with their respective buttons, including the rear windows.
Any help, I'm guessing a fuse problem, but I don't know which fuse.
Thanks

While sitting in the car. The driver side. At the end of your left leg there is a fuse compartment. Open it and look at tye diagram behind it.

Right there is a diagram of where all the fuses for your electricals are. Look at their images and it's corresponding number.

Take a torch 🔦 bend down at the fuse compartment and locate the exact fuse position by its corresponding numbering, pull it out and replace it with the corresponding fuse of same rating (nothing more or less) with what is displayed on the diagram aka a 10amp fuse with another 10amp fuse too AND NOT 15 or 20amp types.

Use new fuses, DO NOT USE WIRE TO BRIDGE THE FUSE SO AS NOT TO CAUSE A FIRE or fry another innocent circuit.

So the last part of your statement is what could cause a fire?

Without a functional ECT sensor on your 2005 accord, your car is literally slowly dying. Please do everything you can to get it fixed, even if it means replacing the radiator with the correct one. Your ecu uses the information from the ECT to make adjustments to the running of the engine. There's something called closed loop and open loop. Your car will permanently be on open loop, which means dumping fuel in ur engine.

Your current radiator should have fan switch in place of the ECT. The problem is that the ECT will not fit into the hole for the fan switch. So it is either you replace the whole radiator, or you find a way to convert the thread hole for the fan switch to fit the ECT.
I had same problem a while ago and I actually converted the thread. I won't advice you to do what I did cos I can only trust myself to do such work well since a leaking radiator is equally a death sentence for your engine. Just replace your radiator ASAP for peace of mind.

Would you advise a toks radiator or brand new.Walahi! I am now seen reasons to avoid Naija used cars when buying my next car. These cars are not well maintained. Maybe its because there are no proper serive certers in Nigeria and the very few are expensive.

Abeg anything radiator issues, I always advise a new one. Most times, the integrity of the used radiator might have been compromised without your knowledge. Any small burst or unnoticed leaks could lead to serious gasket issue.

Go for the new one if you can, but if you decide to go for the toks, kindly ensure you check, check, check well and check again before fixing it. You can also carry out a compression test on it to ensure there are no leaks.

Yes, bridging bad fuses with wires is the genesis of all vehicle fires 🔥

Fuses are safety appliances put in there to stop fires on circuitry.

Whenever a mechanic tells you to remove this, remove that, that it doesn’t matter. Just tell them Oyinbo wey make the car put these things there, you sabi pass them?

That’s what I tell them. Even to the smallest plastic or rubber, I always insist to put them back where they removed from.

Hi everyone, I'm about to get my first car, a 2007 accord.
The one I'm trying to get, the mechanic who was accessing the car for me said the car is very OK but the radiator has been changed and the catalyst has also been removed but I should go on to buy the vehicle.
So I want to ask before I make peyment if it's a wise decision.

PS - The mechanic went with a scanner.

If you trust the mechanic enough, kindly go ahead with his advice. Those things listed are easily replaceable if you deem it fit.

Best of luck
Re: The HONDA Club by AvionicsPilot01: 6:42am On Oct 25
If the catalyst has been removed make sure the mechanic uses the scanner to check the fuel trims on live data so you can verify if it has efficiency issues before going ahead with the transaction

Depends on the oil you've be using in the past and the condition of your engine.
5W-30 if engine is sludge free and does not burn oil.
