Hello guys. Please my 2008 c300 non 4matic suddenly stopped moving past gear one. The mechanic said I need to put new atf in the gearbox and replace the filter. This car is the v4 engine version with one exhaust instead of two.
Please I will like to know what brand of ATF will be good since the mechanic mentioned that this model uses a live transmission.
If anyone can help me on a good affordable brand and possibly cost of the ATF and gearbox filter. I would appreciate it.

Get MB gear oil.

Here is the update. I used the Mercedes oil. That's the star oil. Pretty expensive oil compared to Mobil and the rest. Sadly after the 6 liter replacement and filter also. The mechanic drove the car for a test returned back and the dash board was giving error lights. Now car would not start at all. The gearbox still does not move past gear one. The car is now basically on limp mode. No horn, lights and it won't crank. It looks like I spent all that money to make it worse.. I have towed it home for now. I don't want this car to mess up my mental state.

Am curious to know the gear oil you use. You can't just use any Benz gear oil. Each oil has its own specification example......MB 236.15
MB. 236.17
MB. 236.21
The one I bought for a client is use for. ML350 2013 it has the year range of ML you can use it for. So take that into mind. You don't usually hear of Benz having gear issues as long as you use the genuine fluid.

It is better to park the car and save money for a Grade A tokunbo transmission. I repeat avoid fixing that transmission.

If any mechanic tells you he can fix the transmission please take race and run from that mechanic. There is no point fixing it and after 3months back to square........

Once you are able to get a tokunbo transmission please use the appropriate Benz fluid that matches with the year of the Benz. Make sure when the mechanic fixing the transmission has a clean environment to avoid Contamination to avoid you going back to square 1......

Benz is not easy to maintain, na person wey chop belly full dey drive Benz..

my client that I got the gear oil spend over 250k for the. Original gear oil from Benz dealership....

I used Mercedes benz oil 236.10. I bought it from a Mercedes benz part dealer and he confirmed that it has been what other owners of same type of my car have been using.

No wahala.. Just try and save up for grade A tokunbo. It should be easy to get. Since na from Germany and Germany is close to naija . so it should not cost that much compare to getting from Yankee.....

Make sure whoever is changing the Tokunbo is work area is free from dirt to avoid Contamination . And you always sell the old transmission back to parts seller . that should help reduce the cost of tokunbo that you are buying

Hello house, good afternoon. Please I need advice on this 3 cars, the plan is to get gle350 later but the money isn't complete yet so instead of spending it on other projects I decided to get one of the 3 cars so I can easily add to it later and swap to what I really want...2015 e350,2014 lexus gs 350 and 2015 c300.
Which one retain its value more and easy to maintain for atleast the next 6to8 months.
NB:I have used the rx300 and the rx350's just want to switch to Benz now.
Thank you.

The gear won't select past gear one so I can only drive so slow. 1m for transmission. I will just sell it out to who can fix it. This is my first major repair issue since I bought the car.

Most likely a SAM issue....water ingress causing bridging... But you'll need a qualified tech for it.

Hi everyone. Has anyone done a computer or obd scan to clear error codes recently? I want to know the current expected charge for the service.
