This is to notify the general public that the old names of the aforementioned street have been revoked.

The council wishes to inform the public that the names have been replaced with new ones.

Nice one. That is how it should be.

Some of the LG guys need to be sanctioned. How do you just keep renaming street name to alien name.

Igbos really provoke the Yoruba this past few years with the taunting and mocking about Lagos being a "no man's land" and them Igbos being the developers of Lagos...a whole Lagos wen don dey run International trade since 16th Century before the creation of Nigeria sef.

The Yorubas are usually very very accomodating until you take their niceness for stupidity, then they can be very calculated, detailed, creative, extreme and unforgiving in their response when their patience has run out.

From what i am seeing, e be like sey dem don do meeting and entered a covenant to clip Igbo wings and rid them of any undue privileges or advantages in the west at all levels using legislations and executive fiat.

I am sure that the mindset is that, they will stop accepting what Igbos do not and will never permit in their eastern states and cities.

Well sha last last all na vanity....everything begins and ends here on earth.

Nota Bene. I be Yoruba man so I do know how we think. The "Oju orun to eiye fo" approach to peaceful coexistence should never be taken for granted or it will eventually turn to " Ila kii ga ju oni ire lo".

From what i see, the decisions have been made and its enforcement has begun from the highest levels and levers of power and it will trickle down and permeate all spheres of the social, economic and political landscape.

It is well. Ire ooo. If only we could all live in peace and harmony together, life for sweet.

Really?
I will need to read up on this info. Street-naming is actually under the purview of LGA administration and that probably explains why your information is not well known.

One Nigeria indeed

Since it's one Nigeria, can I build a RUGA farm close to Obi of Onitsha palace?

Last time someone attempted to host an IDP meeting in Imo university, IPOB burnt the school down overnight. Is it only one Nigeria if it is the South West?

It puts it beyond doubt that Lagos is not “no man’s land”! South-Westerners are getting wiser by the election seasons. The Igbo took the welcoming attitude of the Yoruba for granted.

Wetin concern us about what anybody choose to do in their region?

If you mean “others” by saying Ibo, why should any sane Yoruba bother about street name there when even the inhabitants are escaping daily from the zone because of insecurity?

You could read the situation better. You don’t go to Spanish speaking parts of the USA and tell them that English speaking Americans own the place just because it is part of the USA! You will be put in your place properly! That is what the Igbo did in Lagos that got the Yoruba proactive in response!

No, we prefer Portuguese name than Shikodi.

Now Shinedu, what can you do about it rather than gnash teeth on Nairaland?

Then how is Lagos a Yoruba land when the state bears a Portuguese name and the Igbos are the highest investors in the state hmm

When you go to the island, most of the areas are occupied by the Igbos while the so called Yoruba sons and daughters are in mainland constituting nuisance

Anybody can do what they like in their state. Anambra state government changed the name of a popular street in Anambra and heaven didn't fall. Abia state sacked Igbos from Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi and Enugu state from their civil service and heaven didn't fall
